Ghân-buri-Ghân?! Really, people? Did you know that the LoM has an entire feature specifically devoted to doing the weirdest slash pairings you can think of?! Melian/Galadriel! Arwen/Estë! Narvi/Faramir! Heck, they've even got Balrog/Gamling, the teme s!
Hoooly Valar.

(for the truly masochistic, here's the generator)
And they read the books, too. That's always sad, when they read the books and still write badfic...
LotR is a fairly high-level reading, too, so you'd think they'd have a decent grasp of how writing works.
On the other hand, their grammar/spelling skills have no bearing on their actual ability to /write/, keep people in character, or any of the many, many factors that create goodfic.
For bizarre pairings, that tops the list, although I think the Harry/Basilisk is a close second. (I did meet someone who shipped Dobby/Giant Squid, but that was only because "The fandom is that f---ed up and you know it.")
Faramir/Shagrat?
Anyone/Treebeard?
...and raise you a Hogwarts/Giant Squid.
Yeah.
Slash.
Yeah.
(As you can tell, my brain has not yet recovered, and it was months ago.
Then again, I ship some pretty strange pairings myself, but at least they're all human.

I sent you again the bets-status mission, added the "delivery" of the Sue bodies to Cocoa and Powder.
And the mini-Guardian, Chiauru, is yours.
