Hello everyone. Sorry to bother you all, but in one of my many writing projects I've come up to a point where the characters involved stop by a pub in HQ; this pub is supposed to be at least fairly popular, and to have been around for quite a while, so I was wondering if anyone would be interested in having characters of theirs make cameo appearances. If anyone is interested, please tell me which you wish to be used and anything you think I will need to know, particularly with preferences and such. Thanks for your time, I hope this isn't a problem.
You can use Winston. Chliever isn't allowed in any of HQ's eating establishments except the Cafeteria, and that's only because he couldn't possibly make the food any worse.
... since it's post-Crashing Down, Ontic's back on the scene. She doesn't really have a job to do, and she's got a lot of guilt weighing on her head, so she drinks rather a lot. She's pretty quiet and keeps to herself, though, but is likely to be found in the corner of a pub nursing a glass of something. She'd also be wearing her black sweatshirt with a grey bar running across the chest; subtle, she ain't.
hS
(PS: I'm sort of back online, sort of not. We'll see where I get to)
I'm glad your internet problems are fixed, at least to an extent; I did e-mail you about this before, if I recall, so I'm glad you're interested. Ontic has the potential for awkwardness due to her past, but one of the viewpoint characters is too new to recognise her and the proprietor would make sure she isn't given trouble; he's a very "leave your problems at the door" type. Besides, that potential makes this sort of thing interesting. :P
...Move along, folks. Nothin' to see here.
(Glad you're sort-of back! You've been missed.)

…in her slain double's body and with all subconscious commands removed. Oh, and Melpomene is there with her rookie partner Fearn, a strategist New Paradigm Dalek (with the Human Factor, like all Dalek Agents) whom she is currently owning at Xiangqi.
You can use Kestrel and Mordecai. Kestrel is a female ferret (about the equivalent of seventeen years old) from Redwall, with a very heavy vermin accent. Mordecai, or Cai, is a Potterverse wizard of Chinese descent, about twenty-ish.
It wouldn't be realistic to have my Agents there (Leila doesn't drink and Julius mixes his own) but if you could make the bartender Haitian or Jamaican I would be very much obliged. I'm looking to do something similar, I already have a character drawn out, and it's rather unlikely that there'd be two pubs in HQ, yes?
Given the size of HQ, it'd actually be rather surprising if there was only one pub. It's supposed to be a massive building, more equivalent to a small country or at the least a big city (at least in my mind, given the sheer numbers of Agents said to work there), and I'm aware that in the past other eating and/or drinking establishments have been running.
(Besides, from what I've gathered from him, I'm fairly sure KGarrett already has the bartender character drawn up.)
Just my tuppence.
...Or HQ the city in New Caldonia? Because I have no doubt that there's more than one bar in the city, but in the building itself...not so sure. Still, you have a point, and the size of either one of the two vary wildly in size between fics.
But you're probably right about the bartender. Oh, well.
Yeah, there'd undoubtedly be more than one pub in HQ. The logic I was operating on would be that bars and pubs - at least a few - would pop up just due to necessity considering how often agents come out of fics in desperate need of a drink, alcohol or otherwise. At the very least, we know there's also the PPC Bleepka Bar. The one featured is just supposed to be a rather popular one.
... at your own risk.
You can use some of my agents, if you want. Danny would be sipping a gin and tonic and reading something (Wodehouse, perhaps, or maybe Hunter Thompson) in a quiet corner. Laura would not be there, however, as she doesn't drink. She might show up to tell Danny they've got a mission, but otherwise no.
Xericka and Gremlin would probably be drinking the strongest things they could get, what with the two squicky missions (one not yet published) they did back to back. After a few mixed drinks, Gremlin would slip into 'friendly inebriated bisexual lech' mode while Xericka would become easily amused and start using contractions in her speech.
As for the availability thing, way I picture things the owner's got drinks from all over the place; not necessarily just World One, either. Mostly real alcohol, but non-alcoholic beverages and PPC fare like Bleepka and Pink/Purple Stuff are available. Miah should be able to get something she'd like, within reason.
Plain mead. It'll be a light honey colored non-carbonated beverage with a sweet taste.
Logan is probably the most frequent at the pub (read: borderline-alcoholic) but most of ESAS would be around. The only exception is Entropy, who is no longer with us (after dying during the 2008 Macrovirus emergency).
Logan tends towards drunkeness-via-Long Island Iced Teas, which should leave plenty of scope for amusing escapades.
Elcalion
... but not S&S. I don't know how Snowspine would take to that.
When is this fic set? If it's after the Macroviruses, Foxglove will have a cybernetic eyeball, which you may need to know for descriptions. (I decided she went for something steampunky, a la Treasure Planet, but my storyline hasn't caught up with the viruses bit yet.)
So, assuming I finish it this month, July 2010.
Not a lot else would be different, I don't think. Just don't get too specific about their haircuts or anything ...
One of the viewpoint characters is fairly new, and is a recent transfer from the DAVD, so I've been trying to determine who among the cameos he'd actually recognise.
I don't know if anyone would have forgotten about the Redneck Trees thing three years on. I don't think that's the kind of thing people forget, so yes, your guys will probably have heard stories. They're also well-known for working with furry characters, and Laburnum would probably still be wearing Raketooth the Amazing Three-Armed Fox.
The other one's a vet, so I figure even if Brian (the newbie) didn't recognise her, he would. Thanks then; I just wanted to be sure since I have to work out all the individual cameos in the pub scene.
... you can take Sergio Turbo and Corolla. Expecially Corolla, an ax-crazy six-inches tall fairy like girl, with a taste for Water (yes, that Water) can be useful for fun and weirdness.
However, only if you aren't going to write it in those days. My first mission is in beta status and I didn't make the Agents pages already.
Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude, but I'm not sure what you said there. Was just wondering what you meant by "those days".
I was trying to explain that, since there are virtually no information about my Agents at the moment, adding them in now could generate troubles to you. However, in one-two days both my first mission (useful for Sergio and Corolla's behaviour) and the agent pages should be online.
Sorry for being unclear!
Sorry; maybe it's just late, but I really couldn't understand what you'd said the first time. Thanks for clearing it up; I still don't entirely know where the story's going, but I'm looking to finish it before too much longer. Already been at it quite a while, and I'm trying to work on producing more stuff.
...well, maybe just one. Brightbeard, a World of Warcraft Dwarf (what good is a pub without a Dwarf, right?), will gladly join in a PPC pub crawl. He drinks tankards of the strongest stuff they have.
Feel free to have both Lee and Ian for whatever you need; their info can be found here or on the Wiki.
Bonus points if you have Lee drinking something with mint in it. She gets relatively more tipsy and cuddly if she's exposed to mint.
I love it. I hereby give my permission for this to happen, and bribe KGarrett with the baked good of their choice to ensure that it does. As for the "friendly" bit, Ian would probably rescue Lee if it got too bad; he's a good friend/partner like that. ;)
~Pretzel, who is equally amused and can't wait to see what happens.
