Just a heads-up about the PPC page on TVTropes. by

Reply
While in the course of chatting in the PPC IRC room, it became apparent that the list of tropes on the PPC's TVTropes page was ridiculously long--longer than the Firefly page--so several of us (8-10, depending) took it upon ourselves to trim it. So, no need to panic if you wander over there and find a bunch of stuff gone. {= )
Basically, we went down the list and voted for each trope on the basis of relevancy to the PPC as a whole, removing tropes with only one example or with example(s) that don't really apply to us. Voting was decided by majority.
We would also like to note that editing so that 75% of the list items mention your agents is discouraged. The PPC is a community, even if we don't all feel like editing on TVTropes.
You may now return to your regularly scheduled mayhem.

I wanted to add it to the page, but couldn't track it down before I got too tired to do anything about it - we'd been working on the trimming all night. Calista must've found the thing after I turned in.

I got it from the Wiki; the WIki got it from MIss Cam's page (nm by

She's always seeemed the cheerful sort to me, more like she wouldn't want to be rudely bothered about something like that. I can't see her getting upset by us politely saying "Oh hey, sorry to bother you, but do you remember where this came from? We'd like to give appropriate credit."
(But Neshomeh knows, so it's all good. Woot for The Knowledgeable!)
And yeah-- besides, this organisation is what it was drawn -for-. It really bothers me when I see the image being used for groups utterly unaffiliated, just because they have the same acronym and it's a nifty graphic. (There's at least one on Facebook.) They could at least give credit to the artist, or if they don't know the artist, Jay and Acacia, or something. *shrug* But I don't see us using it as a problem. -

... Art thieves bother me. Do you think we could ask whoever that is on Facebook to either take it down or show some permission from the artist? (Or, failing that, Facebook actually has rules about uploading images to prevent this sort of thing, so they're most likely in violation of the rules and could be reported.)

Or was, anyway. I searched PPC out of curiosity (Hey, you never know! Someone could've started one!) and was a bit shocked to find that logo on some utterly irrelevant (and poorly written) page or other. I think I said something, but never got a response.
It's not showing up now... but I'll keep looking. It could've been taken down by now, 'twas a long time ago. -

How 'bout we add a PPC Quotes page? by

I approve of the tidying-up, even though I was the one doing a lot of the un-tidying. Urge to trope everything is overpowering, I swear ...
Anyway, opening a Quotes page for us on TVTropes could be fun. -
I don't see the need, but if so... by

I'd suggest keeping it small; those things are liable to spiral out of control very fast. Also, I think it should be restricted to quotes from the Original Series unless the authors of the source in question agree/put it in themselves.
See, I'm not entirely comfortable with Agent Iza being mentioned by name over there - besides not seeing the point, I just... don't see the point. Department of Redundency Department. I wouldn't want anyone quoting pieces of my mission there without my knowledge; not that I don't trust you guys, but I often go back to make tiny edits, and I don't like thing being out of my hands. Sorry to be such a control-freak, but I would really prefer to stay out of it. Make sense? -

You don't like people discussing the media you create on media-related sites, yet you write PPC stories, which are technically fanfic. Writing fanfic goes well beyond simply mentioning or discussing things. So... it just seems a little, well, hypocritical, although I understand the wish for control.

Fanfic authors can still request that no one host their stories on the web without their say-so. I don't personally see the difference.

It's just an encylopedia-style listing, and I had no idea it was there. That bothers me. If I didn't want there to be any articles about my agents on the PPC wiki, I'm pretty sure that would be respected. I don't see why this is different, and iIf that strikes you as a double-standard... well, fine. I won't lose any sleep over it.

Good Glod, man. Sign your name, stop acting like we all hate you, and, just...
You're a part of this community! Sign your name!
I know it's a trite example, but I used to flood the 'Board with caps-lock-of-doom on a regular basis. I wasn't shunned, and as far as I know my opinion isn't automatically discounted for that. I think the ONLY time I've EVER seen people get legitimately angry on here is the time someone faked an RL death for romantic/otherwise drama. Hell, a recurring troll who turned out to be an oldbie got caustically raised eyebrows from TWO PEOPLE. No, I lie. Three.Four, tops.Point is, tempers here aren't going to flare because you may have done something rash in the past. You're a part of the community here, your opinion matters, from what I can tell you're a decent, interesting, and intelligent person, and nobody here has a problem with you still, and if they do, it's their own problem.
So, please. I know people keep telling you this, but seriously at least consider coming out of your Mask of Shame. You really don't need it. -

I think TvTropes needs an OFU page. by

For the concept, if not for every single OFU. In the meantime, though, let's not add OFU examples to the PPC page, okay? Even if they do involve PPC agents, it's technically a sort of crossover. (Forgive me if I'm overstepping my authority here.)
(Are we still allowed to mention character-specific examples on individual trope pages?) -

I think that was actually a failed cut. However, as I wasn't the one actually cutting things, you'll have to take it up with whoever was. I believe it was KGarrett, but there were enough of us on when we were voting on what to clean up that I'm not sure.
