Of course Twilight is creepy. Why do semi-intelligent humanoids even have to discuss it?
I read an article on the Wikia that said Eragon isn't very well-liked. That's too bad. Or Twilight. I don't care. Or Hannah Montana... I applaud, my ears have bled over her far too often for me to give a piece of Warg flesh about her.
But back to the point, why is this so?
People being used to normal message boards, they naturally don't realize that making multiple topics can be annoying. Maybe a note about posting in current topics when possible could be put on the top of this board, where people could see it? Something like, "To avoid scrolling too many topics off the front page, please post replies rather than new topics when possible."
First, I'm not sure we can actually edit up there. Though maybe. You'd have to page the Nameless Admin about it.
As for people not realizing what they're doing, I'd think it would be common sense anywhere that posting so much all at once is impolite, no matter how quickly the board refreshes. It's like the little kid who jumps up and down shouting "HEY, ME! OOH! ME! LOOK AT ME!" when simply raising their hand would do. Even on boards that refresh, unless I'm wildly out of touch, the usual thing to do on those boards is to make a post in the original thread to bump it back to the top, not make a new one. If your first post doesn't get attention, the next six aren't likely to, either.
In any case, this is why we give newbies the links to things like the Board FAQ, which explains why not to do this. If they don't read the thing, we have the right to be annoyed (though one individual's language was NOT acceptable) when they do something they aren't supposed to, especially seven times in a row. Really, this was a first.
All this is not to say that I and the others aren't going to forgive Aeidrhyn. S/he stopped, and wasn't actually spamming meaningless nonsense, so whatever, it's cool by me as long as it doesn't happen again. I just don't think one person is a good reason for us to lower our expectations of people's common sense, manners, and ability to read the material we give them when they join.

I think Calista has all the main points covered. Personally, I became tired of all the debates and went out and read all the Twilight books to decide for myself. I don't hate them. There are some aspects that I quite like and a few moments that are truly funny, but I'm not a fan. No one has lynched me yet. If anyone does like such fandoms, no one around here will look down on them for it, though they'll never get much agreement.
Also, I don't think I've welcomed you yet. Welcome! Here's a pocketknife with flamethrower. :)
*shakes finger* One reminder = enough, really!
Right. Eragon. Well, basically, it's simply not very well-written. The plot is predictable, the characters are flat, and the writing itself tends toward the urple. Eragon himself is a pretty standard Marty-Stu (and a self-insert on top of it), without the redeeming elements that make many Canon Sues less annoying than they could be. Many of us could, and have, written better stories; and all of us have read a great many better stories.
It's a bit like the way a professional chef might react if someone walked into his restaurant and asked him to make them a hamburger "just like the ones they serve at McDonald's."
Personally, I thought it read like Star Wars in a Tolkien universe, with dragons as CAFs rather than an ancient, very intelligent predatory species.
Given as I've seen Star Wars a number of times, it wasn't that hard to predict the plot.
Sorry. I couldn't tell by the name alone.
Won't happen again. But really, how was Boston? Was it cancled? Or has it not happened yet?
first off, sorry for my gramatical errors. this is from my moble. only way i can get on. secondly, you really are a noob. dont be stupid. you are pissin alot of people off by moving their posts, which are much more important, to another page. but you already know this because you were told when you posted last time. please stop.
now to the regulars. sorry its been so long. i was very busy graduating from high school. now im back. hope i can get back in touch with y'all. how was boston by the way? sorry i couldnt make it (graduating). what did i miss?
Perhaps more so. By now, I'm sure Aeidhryn will have gotten the message. Kindly re-read the Board Constitution and refrain from any more bad language.
Also, if using your mobile causes so many painful grammatical errors, I ask you to stop. Wait until you have access to a computer with a proper keyboard.
That said, welcome back.
This Board uses an old system. The messages do not refresh to the top when they receive a new post. People consider it rather impolite to post more than one new thread every couple of days. You've got seven so far, with two new ones after people very politely pointed out that you should stop posting so many so quickly.
So anyway, nice to meet you. Glad you are here, but please stop making new threads for a couple of days. If you want to make more posts add them as a reply to one of the seven you already have.
(Sorry if I am over stepping my non-oldbie, non-PG bounds here. I just thought more bluntness would help.)
As to Eragon, I believe the wiki explains why we don't much care for him. http://ppc.wikia.com/wiki/Eragon
The intro quote on the page goes very far in explaining my problem with Eragon.
Twilight is just creepy. Since when has stalking been a legitimate element in romance?
Of course Twilight is creepy. Why do semi-intelligent humanoids even have to discuss it?
(No one has to be an oldbie or a PG to politely inform someone when they've breached ettiquette. In fact, I appreciate it. It makes things easier for PGs when we don't have to be the 'bad guys' all the time.)
As Neshomeh has pointed out, it pushes old threads off the front page.
