When I stumbled onto the PPC case files, my second reaction was to cheer. (My first reaction, of course, was "Oooh... shiny pointy objects.")
I've been hanging out on the chat room off-and-on for a couple of days and have decided to stick around.
Me? Engineering major, Ohio, US, female, caffeine addict.
*waves*
Welcome to the PPC! Here's a sabre and a bottle of bleeprin! I apologize for being late, but I'm a bit caught up in things at the moment. I do like greeting newbies, though, so here I am.
Big cats are great!
Hey! Welcome welcome welcome to the PPC boards! Am also getting the hang of the place myself, but am happy to have you join us!
Have a chocolate bar!
Welcome to the Board! Please deposit your sanity in the provided receptacle. *indicates bucket marked "Warg Fodder"* You shan't need it here. Also, here's a lovely bunch of coconuts.
I think I probably dropped that around the time I started reading/writing my first fanfics... I found it rather unnecessary, and prefer to save space in my backpack for random paperbacks.
Pleased to meet you. Here, have a nice pointy, freshly sharpened pencil. I promised the tip won't break.
Greetings to you, oh caffeine addicted one. Here, have a blue duck. You may name him whatever you wish.
Those were about my reactions as well. And talking about shiny pointy objects, take this bladed yo-yo, in whatever color you want (including a full range of metals).
...yo-yos are not particularly efficient.
I prefer large explosions (carefully controlled, of course) and/or a handy bladed weapon.
In fact, I have never actually read Forgotten Realms. I do agree that they are not the most efficient weapon. But I don't think that has ever been a priority in PPC welcome gifts.
You sound perfectly normal.
Well, perfectly average at least.
For here, in any case. Glad to see you've stopped creeping. Lurking, rather. Leaking? Whatever.
Ah, yes, a gift. What to give, what to give...
Hm...
Do you like snack mix?
Welcome!
*pokes*
Huh. Dunno why, but when you popped up in chat I assumed you'd been around the 'Board already.
Also: hey, another person who may not be irritated by long rambling questions about mathematical concepts! Welcome indeed! *grin*
Have a towel and a whisk, in case the traditions've been forsaken! *glares sternly at the former commentators* The whisk is for exorcisms (and other things), and the towel is for... oh, I don't know. Toweling. >_>
Be seein' ya!
I don't think I've ever felt so welcomed in my life! *attempts to find places for all the odd presents*
Welcome to the PPC! I gift you with a coxcomb. It's a sort of silly hat with Shakespearean lineage.
Hello and welcome to the PPC Posting Board. Here, have some chocolate, won't you?
Nice to see another widespread reader, though for my intro, I just put the fandoms I know really well. Here, have a generic book!
A generic book... is this one of those books that's simultaneously every book in the multiverse until you read it? Because that would be pretty cool.
Unless it's a cheap knock-off of a brand-name book, which would be not so cool.
Good to see someone else who's a fan of the classics. I myself am a huge nerd fan of Fahrenheit 451.
Have a bumblebee that hums showtunes!
Fair winds!
Enjoy this genuine World War I British infantryman's helmet as a welcome gift.
Hey! Always nice to get new folks! Kick up your feet and feel free to stay a while.
Or have you been poked sufficiently in the chat room?
What are your fandoms of choice?
Let's see. Animorphs, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Buffyverse, Star Wars, Star Trek, House, D&D (including novels and role-play), various dystopian novels (ex., The Giver trilogy, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Uglies trilogy and sequels), The Dresden Files, Ender's Game, musicals (especially Les Miserables and Cats), and many individual books that I'm probably forgetting, mostly fantasy and sci-fi with a few "classics" mixed in.
I don't do romance. It's boring. Other than that, I'm pretty much an obsessive reader. I'm actually more likely to have read novelizations than seen the TV shows even when something is primarily on TV (Buffy and Star Trek, for example), which is partly because I don't own a TV set. I was an LotR fan before they thought of the movies; I got hooked in 1998 with The Hobbit.
...why, do they make you pick just one continuum? :P
If I had to decide, I've only ever written fan fiction for Animorphs and LotR, and LotR and Narnia are the ones I know best (though I can quote D&D rules and show tunes with the best of 'em).
... I love you.
There is another Cats fan in the PPC? You are my new best friend. There are too many Cats badfics and not enough Cats fans.
Ahem. Ignore me... *goes back to sitting on her own in the corner*
Another Buffy fan! Woo!
In the PPC there's the department of Floaters for people who want to protect more than one continuum.
Have a carpetbag of infinite capacity and a large thermos of your preferred caffeinated beverage in Bleeproduct version.
welcome and have a Sunny!
