Not to be rude, of course, but this is the most efficient way of finding out (I have a feeling it's Neshomeh? Or Dann? Or the PPC Tooth Fairy?).

Anyway, to whomever: A large part of the opening paragraph on this page is a massive redlink. I thought you'd want to fix it.

I feel like re-reading the Manual anyway, so if I see any more such things, I can let you know, if you like. Otherwise I'm just being bothersome.

... to have affected every volume, actually. I don't know what happened (possibly a misfire in the internal links?) but every chapter 1 has turned redlink. It's just that most of them read [Insert text body here].

Technically hS is in charge of the Manual, and I think there were one or two other people with the password to the account, but I have no idea what hS's feelings are about it these days, and pretty much everyone else moved on. So, yeah.

I don't see what you're talking about either, though. I do seem to recall a strange thing with Freewebs where a mouseover would cause the text to become red (might've been one of hS's sites), but it has nothing to do with links. It's just Freewebs being dumb.

Incidentally, what with a seeming revival of interest in the Manual, does anyone want to actually help FINISH the thing? If so, please please let me know. Send me content and I will bloody well code the thing, and it will be amazing. {= D

That is strange, because it's still there, and it looks like the kind of error that comes when an html tag is dropped. It's definitely behaving like a link, though to a non-existant page. (It's "Chapter One: Welcome to the PPC!", by the way.)

And yes, sure, I'd be glad to help. I can't do it all overnight and it'll take me a while to emulate the style, but I'd love to see it finished. (Might I suggest, though, that if there are more volunteers, we list the sections that need filling and claim them, so that we don't get many people writing for the same part, and not for others?)

By the way, do I get a shiny coin now?

No, actually I'd nearly forgotten the Manual existed. I approve of finishing it -- I'll even help, if I can find anything I can write which hasn't already been written.

We might need to update some of the lists -- I don't know if any new Departments have showed up since they were written...

Especially with all the newbies we're getting. The wiki's amazing, but I think it might be hard to tell where to start, and if one doesn't know what to look for...

I'd love to help, but I have the feeling an oldbie would be more useful than a spazzy midbie with a poor attendance record. :P Still, if I can be of use...

I'm not sure what you're seeing, but the page looks fine to me. Unlike the wiki, the manual is set up so that all links show red. Is it something beyond this? If it is, what browser are you using? I'm not as good as Techno-Dann, and am not yet an agent, but I do hope that I will be able to help you.

It looks like an html tag got lost somewhere; most of the "Welcome to the PPC!" paragraph is a link in itself, and it clearly shouldn't be. Every other link is as red as it should be. For the record, I use IE.

I guess I forgot to mention that possibility clearly in my response, but I was thinking about it! I just pulled the page up in IE (I normally use Firefox) and got the same problem. Does anyone get this in any other browser? I did run a test of this, though. The page code alone seems to work well, so check it with the .css (I didn't see one) file(s), or whatever gives the page its appearance. If the problem is still present, I recommend switching to Firefox, as it is likely a problem with FreeWebs.
