I've been reading several of the spin-offs, and I was thinking, "Why hasn't anyone based a book on this yet?"

Because honestly, there are some fabulous, fantastic writers in this community. If you base a book on this kind of stuff, do you need permission? I heard that writers do it all the time.

Not that I'm writing any novels, or anything like that (I'm more of a ficlet-type). Just wondering if you needed permission. It'd be nice to know.

... the PPC all belongs, when you get down to it, to Jay and Acacia. It was their idea. We've added stuff, sure, but the beginning was theirs. It wouldn't be, well, right to profit from it.

There's also the fact that the PPC is full of a) in-jokes and b) fandom stuff which would be illegal in published form. So a book would lose the purpose and most of the unique trappings (no one would use the Flowers, HQ, Makes-Things or Remote Activators, for sure)... it'd be easier just to make something not based on the PPC.
