About Permission Givers by

Okay... *takes a deep breath*, it seems Neshomeh was right - there aren't enough active PGs around. So, although I still really, really do not want it, I'm going to accept the nomination Neshomeh made in her post from ten days ago and stop hiding behind that "not officially a PG" notice of mine.
So, OpinionedAngel, orangedream? I'm looking at your requests now. I'll reply soon.
Also, to the Board in general - when the rest of the PGs come back, can I shrink into the background and pretend I don't have this job? I'm starting to see why Trojie flailed... -
No offense meant, Sedri.... by

But while I do think you'd do a good job as a PG, you were only nominated to be one, not actually chosen, and I at least would feel more comfortable with this if at least two of the other PGs sanctioned/agreed/put forth the motion to the people who've been around longer than a month for a vote or whatever, especially between the fact that you don't specially want the duties and 'honors' that go with it, and that, again, it was only a nomination that was seconded instead of anything that was put forth for voting (despite Dann seconding it).

No offence taken. by

The only reason I stepped up and did something was becuase no-one else seemed to be around, which is exactly what Neshomeh was talking about - there was a Permission request almost a week old which seemed to have been forgotten.
That, and because our wiki article says that there's no established way to pick new PGs, but sometimes they can be directly selected by other PGs, which I suppose is what I think Neshomeh was doing.
Either way, you were right to do this, and I'm not offended. (Actually, I'm relieved. I don't like doing things without validation.) -
I concur. (Vote for PGs here) by

Actually I concur with both: the Board definitely needs more active PGs (I know I've been pretty much gone of late), but traditionally we've put the nominations to a general vote of the Board as a whole. So shall we do that now?
The current nominations for new Permission Givers are Sedri and Trojanhorse. Anyone can make new nominations, and everyone gets two votes (everyone on the Board, that is. We don't want the general public all trying to vote -- messy). If you make another nomination, it's best to put it in bold in your subject line -- makes it easier to spot.
And yes, people can turn down nominations. Sedri implied Trojie already did so, but I can't spot that, so I've kept her in.
Votes on this thread, please. Voting closes when we've got a clear consensus.

I think a quorum would be fun. It's a fun word, so it must be fun, right?
Anyhow, I'm so glad to come back and see that this has happened, quorum or no. Congrats, new PGs! ^_^
Now that you have access to the Official Permission Giver Hat, I must warn you that it has strange appetites. Don't give in to them. Especially not during the month of June.

For both Sedri and The Trojanhorse.
They are both active on the board and The Trojanhorse especially concerning missions. From what they write I think they have a good enough grasp on the English language as to be able to decide who may write missions. -

Um, thank you all for saying such nice things! If it be the will of the majority I will certainly be a PG ... I suppose I should start pulling my weight around here :)
I also would like to cast votes for both Sedri and IndeMaat, both of whom I find to be extremely useful types and fantastic PPCers

Definitely vote for both; both good writers, and quick with the encouraging concrit, and they've both been around for quite a while now. (How many votes is a majority? Is there a deadline? Can we do a recount later? Do either of them have sponsors? Will there be mudslinging later?
...Can we have a mud fight, then? Those are fun...)
Way to go, guys! ^_^ -

Sedri.
Sedri is, like nearly everyone else has said, the first to go up with concrit for the person applying, and It's good stuff that she points out, too.
Plus, she's a dang good author.
Now, I don't have anything against Trojie, I'm just not that familiar with her writing yet, nor her criticing style..... or, anything, actually. I still have my second vote, mind. XD -
Also, two questions for you, hS? by

Just some things I'm not clear on.
Can we give up PG status later if we want to?
And,
Do the two Permission responses I've given hold, or should someone else ratify them? (I'd personally feel better if someone did so anyway, regardless.)
Thanks :) -
Give it up? by

That's kind of like asking if you can give up membership of the Board. The ability to give permission doesn't mean you're required to, and people won't tell you off for not doing so -- they'll just try and get some more elected.

Can I retract the question? by

I think I was panicking a bit when I asked that. I logged in to see a huge number of replies to my supposed-to-be-easily-ignorable little post and flailed. I'm all embarrassed now. Can we pretend I never asked? I don't really want to give it up, I just don't want a fuss over the matter.

I'd like to second July's nomination of IndeMaat by
on 2010-01-19 22:09:00 UTC
Reply
By sheer virtue of the number of missions she's written, if nothing else ;) But IndeMaat's been here a lot longer and I and has a lot of respect around here, so I'd vote for her.
Trojie... didn't exactly turn it down, as far as I know - no more than I did - but neither of us really wants the job. As long as there's another Permission Giver active, I'd rather stay out of it myself. -

And likewise cast my vote for both Trojie and Sedri. I haven't been here excessively long, but in the time I've been around they've both shown themselves to be great sorts with plenty of knowledge and attention to detail.

I think she's often one of the first people to respond to a permission request with some comments on agents or the text.
I have a feeling though, she thinks this PG thing is a heavier burden than it actually is. Perhaps she thinks she will not be critical enough and let some bad apples slip through. I don't think she has to worry about that. Bad apples rarely request for permission. -
Actually, I'm afraid I'll be too critical. by

I don't feel right giving final Permission for missions in a continuum that I don't know. If anyone who can be considered an oldbie would be willing to double-check orangedream13's first mission for me, I'd be much obliged. (And I'll need your email, if I don't already have it.
