Right now, I ain't got much going on. Doubt my summer will be all that busy, so I can be there when required. Dates aren't to important to me, and the whole "round of public embarrassment" sounds like my idea of a good time, even if I'm the one likely to be doing most of the embarrassing. :P I luuuuurve karaoke.
We were thinking of Leeds as a good place, because we know we and Pads can get there with reasonable ease. August or September looks like the best time for it. I can do pretty much any time in September, August might be trickier but I can work with it. Anyone have any times they absolutely cannot do? I'm sure we can work something out.
As for ideas for where to go, we were considering the Royal Armouries. We thought that was appropriate for a PPC trip.

As of today's Momentous Decision, if all goes well I'll actually be living in Leeds in September. It's a wait and see for now, but if all goes to plan, we could go with September rather than August, and then if anyone's coming from a fair distance away (or even if not) I'd likely be able to provide sofa/floor for an overnight stay if anyone needs it.
Also I have a friend who loves karaoke, who would love to crash this thing, if no one objects.

Would make it easier for people to come. I think that place does them.
Should also start picking songs. (I don't think I'll do "Closer". It's my favourite song, but since this will probably end up online, I don't want to tell the entirety of YouTube that I "wanna f*** them like an animal". And it's probably a good thing they don't have any of my other favourite songs, because most of my favourites are Decemberists or Nick Cave and thus about gory deaths.) And remember to bring a video camera with plenty of film time. I don't think people's phones will hold two hours of filmed karaoke.
I'll see if I can find a video camera.
And I sing a lot of cheesy stuff - a lot of people know my fondness for Abba, and I'm happy to murder most nineties pop. Depending on how much I've had to drink, I'm either a fairly good singer or tone-deaf.
... anyone want me to burn copies of the Molly mix CD I made and bring 'em? Egotistical, I know (or is it not egotistical unless I start trying to charge for them? :P), but I thought I should ask.
I'm on the other side of the Atlantic, so it's not going to happen. If it was in July, there would be a possibility, but only that.
I will be in that part of the world then and I would dearly love to go to one of the gatherings.

... but I don't know what my schedule will be like then. Will have to wait till nearer the time.
But unfortunately, I have very large ocean (the Pacific, to be exact) and an economic recession barring me from joining such a gathering.
I love how much faith you have in me having tuppence to rub together.
If I can rig the train fare though (likely - my dad is a soft touch when confronted with appropriate puppy eyes and pathetic daughterly "Have I told you how much I love you recently, Daddy darling?") I'll probably be up for staying late - I know a million people in Leeds and could stay overnight.
So, count me in, unless a miracle happens and I actually find gainful employment that interferes.
Oh, and... the 9th, I think, of August is my cousin's wedding, and my sister plus husband and kids will be up here for a week either before or after - I won't be available when they're here.
Honestly, I doubt there's any way for me to get there, and I highly doubt my presence would be at all welcome (:P), but it seems interesting enough that I could try for it. It's gonna fall through, but I'll see if I can manage it.
