Is Han Soto a Zen Buddhist monk?
mini-Discords: Lighten Dust, Pinky Pie, Zekora
mini-Luggage: Lobdang Ludd
mini-Rancors: Corn Horn, Han Soto, Lane Sleazebaggano
mini-Reapers: James Starling, Syder
We don't really do this anymore. Minis have to come from either a misspelling in a mission to a badfic or from an OFU coordinator. No more random finds from the internet. Or whatever.
Every so often he'll pop up and report a few minis from various continua.
Why doesn't someone just tell him that it isn't protocol anymore? That might at least make him start fewer topics like this one.
There are now three of you jumping all over Tawaki for something that really? Honestly? Doesn't matter. It... really doesn't. Really.

Minis follow a protocol. They are part of the canons of the OFUs and the PPC, and we have rules about where they come from and how to adopt them.
We just recently had a discussion about mini sources, and requiring them to have come from a published, written thing. Tawaki has been asked to not do this anymore before, and he is still flagrantly disregarding that request. Also, when Tawaki makes these posts pulling minis out of the Void or wherever, it sets a bad example for newbies, and encourages them to also not follow the rules. He is not entitled to follow different rules than everyone else.
Additionally, making up minis (which is essentially what is happening here, regardless of whether Tawaki actually found these from badfics or not) is disrespectful to the writers who actually put the work into writing an OFU for their fandom and using them as staff, or into a mission to a badfic that spawns them. It deprives the legitimately-discovered minis of their uniqueness.
So for the record, everybody: Minis must come from a published story somewhere in the Canon Protection Initiative. They cannot be adopted or placed for adoption just from being noticed somewhere.
(Tawaki, feel free to jump in. I feel like I'm talking in third person about someone who's standing right next to me in the room.)
It's important enough that three people were required to get the message across? That's appropriate for a serious violation of the rules which actually hurts people; I don't think it's appropriate in this case.

If it's a repeated thing. Especially if, like in this case, the person breaking the rules has not acknowledged that they have, in fact, broken the rules repeatedly. (I'd link to more examples of Tawaki being reprimanded, but I'm on my phone at the moment, so that is a tad difficult.)
This chain of passive aggressive responses has gone far enough, and it's spreading to multiple threads.
Doctorlit, Tray-Gnome, it's just words on the internet. It is not the end of the world if someone is posting things that are not Officially Sanctioned, and this thread has gotten far too harsh for that point.
Huinesoron, we do tend to appreciate a bit of order behind community actions. There's nothing wrong with asking someone to mind that fact.
But everyone should be taking a deep breath right now. Stop, step away from the keyboard, and calm down. This is ridiculous, and you should all know better.
... why not come hang out on the Board more often? It's been a long time since I've noticed your name around regularly, and surely we still have some discussions you could join in on?
hS
I thought you couldn't adopt minis without a mission and/or board post and/or IRC and/or OFU sourcing?
That's why I asked earlier. The way I phrased it, it sort of backfired on me, though.
It's one thing to adopt a mini from the Board if it was created by a legitimate misspelling from a Boarder, but I don't think it's within the rules to say "Hey, here are some minis I thought up; who wants one?"
At least when I showed Discworld misspellings a while back, I was posting with full knowledge that they wouldn't actually be mini-Luggages unless they were added to the Adoption Master List and/or showed up in the OFUDisc. Tawaki just seems to have "found" some.
Again, Tawaki, where did you get these?
I want Corn Horn!
I think I might have to take Lobdang
Is Han Soto a Zen Buddhist monk?
Have you been making missions that we don't know about? Because, if you are, I'd really like to see what fic creates "Lane Sleazebaggano". That seems far too deliberate to be a mini-creation typo.
"Sleazebaggano" is a canonical Star Wars surname. The mini-ness is in it being 'Lane' instead of 'Elan' Sleazebaggano.
