Few weeks ago there was a documentary on TV where he told about his Alzheimers, and in the end credits it seemed to say: Sir Terry Pratchett.
Actually, on my screen it said (I don't have wide screen and lose some information on the sides):

While I may not be one of his fans (though that will change someday), I have heard good things about him. Also, I want to be the first to proclaim the news.

He was on the New Year's Honours List, and was offically knighted on Wednesday. It's not official 'til you're actually knighted by the Queen.
But doesn't that mean he's not supposed to use the title Sir until he's officially knighted?
What you thought was "i" may have been the end of "M".
Since I don't know what it looked like exactly, I couldn't say for sure.
I could see the whole thing of it. If it was the last leg of the M, I would have been more likely to confuse it with an l.
I wouldn't think he'd be allowed, no. But if it was in the end credits then he wasn't the one using it, it was the program producers/person in charge of credits.
