A teaser/preview for you lovely people - scenes from the PPC Movie. These are rough edits as of yet, and are made available on the intarwubs thanks to the spiffy Kgarrett
[Scene 01: Intro/Titles is music-only - listen to 'Dies Irae' to set the mood if you feel like it ^_^]
02: Exposition: http://www.upload-mp3.com/pfiles/54334/02%20Exposition.mp3 (featuring Platinumyo as the Narrator)
03: DoSAT Return to HQ: http://www.upload-mp3.com/pfiles/54335/03%20DoSAT%20Return%20to%20HQ.mp3 (Featuring Techno-Dann as, uh, Techno-Dann and Lily Winterwood as Tess)
[Scene 04: Mary Sue Factory: A Slight Delay is unavailable due to not having some of the voices yet]
05: Agent Morgan Awakes: http://www.upload-mp3.com/pfiles/54338/05%20Agent%20Morgan%20Awakes.mp3 (featuring Cassie as Morgan)
06: Sabbat and Archer Break Out: http://www.upload-mp3.com/pfiles/54336/06%20Sabbat%20and%20Archer%20Break%20Out.mp3 (featuring Fynn as Sabbat and Pigeonarmy as Archer)
and 39: July and Library Join the Massacre: http://www.upload-mp3.com/pfiles/54337/39%20July%20and%20Library%20Join%20the%20Massacre.mp3 (featuring JulyFlame as July and Sara as Library and included because I already had it up and running and thought 'why not?')
Enjoy! Hopefully we can give you a preview scene per week - this will be easier if those of you who still have voices to do could maybe get them to me? [/end gentle poke] -
Finally had a chance to listen! Good job! :D (nm) by

I still haven't recorded my lines, due to college eating my time/brain. I will do it as soon as I a) find my headset/'borrow' my brother's and b) manage to get some quiet time where you won't hear either my brother's fake Scottish accent from the next room or my brother's music.
Unfortunately I have given up my only guaranteed quiet time in preference of going into college on that day to get work done in an environment where I can get assistance where necessary. -

You try learning anything from a tutor who likes the sound of his own voice enough to talk for practically two hours straight, even to the point of asking a question and then not waiting for an answer before he starts saying something that he's already said several times that lesson.

The rant about the disaster that was today is on my LJ.
I just want to know if Fast (light) green stain comes out of human skin. Accidentally got some on me because someone couldn't be bothered to wipe down the outside of the bottle after using it and managing to spill it. -

On reading over the collected roleplay, I noticed that Morgan's partner's name has been misspelled on the two occasions she's mentioned. She should be Traf, not Tarff, and I'm not sure how that happened, since I know I would've noticed if July's reply had had that incorrect version. Anyway, I don't know if that's carried over into your scripts. It's not a big problem (and to be honest no one other than me will notice :P) but, yeah.
hS, helpfully annoying -

But for most of the audio I only get audio through one speaker (one-channel audio, or whatever). I... don't think that's a good thing.
And I have to say that I imagined most people's voices differently, that's my problem and I'm not very good at imagining voices, so...
And I'd make a commentary on some phrasing, but since the lines have been recorded it would be kinda stupid. So I'ma going to go away now. -
The speaker thing is odd ... by
on 2009-02-01 20:39:00 UTC

... it's only one-channel, but said one-channel ought to come out of both of your speakers.
As to phrasing of lines - the dialogue in almost every case is exactly how it was written by various people during the RP :) We didn't want to fiddle with the original material at all if we could help it. -
It alternated. by

Which meant that I ended up having to turn up the volume to hear the Exposition and then had to quickly pull my headphones off when both channels started, randomly, blaring. *rubs ears* Yeow.
And it was just 'Multiverse' said perhaps one too many times in very close proximity to itself. I notice that kind of thing, but one supposes that there aren't many synonyms, so... *shrug* Just thinking about a rule I read once, that anything but pronouns and proper nouns shouldn't be repeated within fifteen words. So a repeat within three seemed like too much. However, if that's how it was written, I'll leave it alone.

... that there's movement going on in some of those scenes. I know Morgan wanders through a couple of rooms between some of her lines. So some of the proximity problems might be that. But I don't know, of course.

I thought you wouldn't. :P
They're very quiet. For scene 2 I had to have my headphones on and volume to maximum, and that was about the volume I'd expect it to be at normal level. So you'll definitely need to up the volume when you finalise them. Other than that, the intro's good. Very ominous. :P
Scene 3, a bit louder (good). Obviously the tracks need fiddling a bit, as you say (might I recommend you pay particular attention to the slight click on and off on each clip? A very brief fade effect might help with that, or if you can find a static removing function that'd be even better). At the moment my ears are too busy adjusting to the sudden background hiss to understand much of what Tess is saying. And. Er. The third voice later is either Tess with a reverb on or a Flower. I can't tell which, and I can't actually make out anything it says. So. Yeah.
Scene 5 is great, and I don't just say that because I wrote it. :P Obviously some of that is the fact that it's a single microphone not having to change, but it's at a decent volume and I can understand it. It's rather spooky without context, but that comes later.
Scene 6: decent volume, I can understand most of it, but there's a lot of variation in how the voices sound. Not so much a problem when you've got visuals, but at the moment it sounds like there's about five people there. And, again, the differing background noises leave that slight delay in understanding.
As a note on that, you could try adding a single background noise to the entire scene (air conditioning or something :P), and then including a slight (quarter second, even) fade at the beginning and end of each line. That'd make the backgrounds less noticable, and might facilitate understanding.
Ah, if only audio editing was as easy as fiddling with pictures...
Scene 39 I've heard before, but somehow sounds better now. Not sure whether you've edited or not. It still has slight clicks at the end of lines, but a bit of background noise (which is basically required for the Tomb) will mask that perfectly. And I can understand the Flower, too. So I have only good things to say about that scene. And it makes the problems I noted with the previous ones look likely to go byebye. So good. ;)
I'd offer my help for editing the audio here, but I suspect you've got it pretty much in hand. If you do need me to help out, though, well, you know where I am.

I can redo those if you want, now I've got a better mic, and I've worked out the accent he needs a bit more. *hopeful* -

Audio effects are still being fiddled with, so comments like these are very helpful and will definitely be taken on board :)
You're right, I'm hoping that the addition of the visuals will help differentiate between everyone's voices, but as it is I'm going to need to recut Scene 5 anyway - the disparities between how the two actors recorded their lines and then how I had to pitch-alter one of them for some reason confuses Audacity mightily and meant a need for some serious fiddling around with rates ... so that one's in line for probably the most drastic alteration. -

Not using my headphones, anyway. Haven't tried listening with my speakers.
Anyway, Scene 2 is good. There are a few places where it sounds like Plat is stumbling over the words, but the point gets across.
Scene 3 - yeah, I agree that the reverb makes it difficult to understand the speaker, whether it's Tess or someone else.
Scene 5 - Good work.
Scene 6 - Agreed, lots of variation in the voices, and I can't always understand them.
Scene 39 - I still can't understand anything in the announcement aside from "All agents" and "get your butts down here, now." It goes too fast and there are too many Ss. Esses. Sibilants. {= P Maybe cutting down on the echo effect would help? Also, I did notice that this scene seems to be louder than the others.
As for lines... yeah... um... I haven't been able to find a quiet, roommate-free moment (when I didn't have homework) all year. I still want to do it, though. *sorrowful kitty face*

Okay, so it seems to me that the best plan will be to *standardise* the volume across scenes, at least, and to try and do even more noise removal.
The echo effect for the Flowers/psychics definitely needs work, agreed. I'll see what I can do about toning it down. -
