So I'm making a roleplaying character, and I came across something that I'd like to know. Is there anything in the beer-making process that would cause a phosphorescent ingredient to stop glowing?

The question would be, what is the phosphorescent molecule?

Beer making involves turning sugar into ethanol. If the phosphoresance depends on the sugar, or even the sugar concentration, then, after a while the mixture would stop glowing.

The byproduct of making ethanol is CO2. Generally that will also kill any phosphoescent properties of anything until it is released. I chan go into an energy level diagram and molecules, but that would be a little too technical.

I guess, then, I'll have to either drop that gimmick or handwave it as to do with magic - but since most of this people's "magic" is standard electricity, I doubt that'd be plausible. Thanks, though.
