Really, I'd love to hear what makes one side 'good' when it comes down to something like this.
Just because you don't agree with the viewpoint of the opposing party doesn't mean you have the right to decide who is 'good' and who is, if one side is good, the 'evil' side.
Especially since, y'know, this involves POLITICS.
While I'm not one, I implore you to get out there and vote. Today, as you well know, is the American Presidential election, where Barack Obama and John McCain (and Bob Barr, if you're insane) stand for your vote for the Presidency. So get out there and vote, American board members! DO IT NAOW!

I have my doubts that Obama will live up to what he intends to do. But if he succeeds, more power to him, and I'll happily vote for him in four years. I wish him the best of luck.
There were a few riots at my school due to people being overly happy about Obama winning.
Few people got arrested.

Obama's not even going to be the official president-elect until January because some...other people...still need to vote. I forgot who.

Looked at the California results and it seems that proposition 8 is being passed. *sob* That's not fair! Even if I don't really like slash, I think that as long as the two men or women are in love they can marry. *sniffle*
Hawaii, California, Washington and Oregon for Obama, Idaho, Utah and Alaska for McCain.

I don't find that much of a surprise. I was counting votes for our class in history and Obama won 21 to 7 for us.
The Beeb has it 200-130 for Obama, including the recent calls of Obama for New Mexico and McCain for Mississippi and Texas (ain't that your state, July? ;) ).
CNN has 199-78 to 'Bama, so they seem to be a little behind.
Fox is pointing out that Obama's only 0.72% ahead in the popular vote - Obama is at 49.89%, and McCain's at 49.17%. Still, they're calling the same states as everyone else.
That is all.
Ohio. As in, the KEY battleground state of this election.

The Beeb have Obama at 175, Macca at 61. Believe who you will.
Likewise, CNN are saying the Democrats have just won the majority in the Senate, 51 to 33, while the Beeb is saying the Dems have 48 Senate seats while the Republicans have 32.
The BBC is calling 103 Electoral College votes for Obama (including the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Vermont, Illinois, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts), while McCain has 49 (including Kentucky, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina).
Fox is calling it for McCain (48.31%), with Obama at 45.96% and Thomas Stevens (?) at 4.67%.
CNN has called Pennsylvania for Obama.
Should be interesting.

The Beeb, CNN and PBS maps are pretty much the same, except with different colour schemes. The Fox one's just hilarious. They still refuse to call Pennsylvania for 'Bama, even though everyone else has. Something about "integrity". *snort*

Just like *who* you vote for, voting is a *choice*. You can do whatever you like with your vote, including not use it. That's the joy of democracy :D
I was lucky to be a permanent resident, not a citizen, or I would've been forced to vote. But let's not start that discussion - too much chance for nastiness.

You're down far enough south that it's cold :) Cos the earth is a globe, and the closer you are to the poles the further you are from the Sun's warmth, and so the temperature in the air is low enough that water can freeze to form snow! And snow increases the planet's albedo, so it reflects more warmth, and gets colder!

Thing is, snow in November is a northern thing. It's supposed to be well on its way to summertime now - and yes, I know I'm further south than you, but snow flurries this late are... not common. I won't say "rare", as I haven't been here long enough, but still.
And anyway, people don't generally appreciate the cold nearly enough. I like to stand out in the rain and take my walks whenever the snow STARTS.
All I can say is to point out that global climate change is NOT going to end in a worldwide Mediterranean climate :P
and to make a snowman for me, pretty please? Last time I had enough snow to make one, I was four.
You may have heard on the news that there was this absurd blizzard overnight; we had 10cm of snow - too bad it was a Saturday. :p I played child with my family and we made a snowman almost as tall as I am.
'fraid there's not enough this time, though. At it's thickest (2am, by the way), there was only about a half centimeter, and it all melted at touch. :(
I'm in the Rangitikei electorate, so my vote's pretty much betrothed to Simon Power. Thinking the Bill & Ben Party for party vote, though, :P.
Helen Clark's attitude, and the attitude of the Labour party and their fringe supporters in general, doesn't appeal to me. And given their latest track record legitimising theft and all, I'm pretty much not voting Labour...this time around.
I'd rather jump into a pit of snakes than have John Key at the helm, not that I'm enthralled with Uncle Helen either.
So I guess I'll be voting Green again. At least then, as a science-type person, I can say that I voted for the party most likely to at least hear me out if I want to say something about their environmental policies...

Personally, I've got no idea where I stand with the candidates. Whichever one screws up less is fine with me. And hopefully there won't be TOO much insanity this time around. I don't want to wait for them to have a dozen recounts and arguments over what counts and what doesn't...

My campus is covered in chalk advertising, Obama posters, and people asking if you've voted yet. Really, it's been getting rather annoying. I must have been asked that at least 7 times today, and been told to vote at least 20.
But yes, I have voted, and I have the sticker to prove it. And I'll find out who won tomorrow, because I won't forsake my homework to watch every minute.

You might have temporarily restored my faith in humanity. I honestly just shut off the TV and stopped paying attention, after a certain point; it's too much. I -hate- elections, for that reason.
I refuse to stay up all night to watch the elections, since I have college in the morning, so I'll check on it when I get up. Everything should be sorted by the time I wake up tomorrow.
Though our history teacher is really enthusiastic about American history and we did a mini-vote.
I'm such a fence-sitter with Obama and McCain that I did "eeny-meeny-miny-mo" with the two. >.

CNN has projected Obama to win Vermont and McCain to win Kentucky - no surprises there. Georgia, Kentucky, New Hampshire and Maine have also closed their polls.
Fox is projecting similar - Obama/Vermont, Maine, North Hampshire, McCain/Kentucky, and Indiana is anyone's game (49% each). Fox is currently projecting McCain to win, but that's no surprise.
BBC's also calling the same - BamaMont and McTucky.
This gives McCain eight electoral college votes and Obama three electoral college votes, putting McCain in an early lead.
Guess McCain wins, then. Oh well, knew it'd happen. The good guy never wins in reality.

Yeah, calling Obama "the good guy," especially without any evidence to back up your claim? Not so cool. Back off, please, or at least justify your side. Just because you support him doesn't make him good, and doesn't make McCain evil. Please remember that we're trying to not attack each other here, and please remember that whichever side of the line you happen to fall on, there will be plenty of intelligent, reasonable people on both sides, so let's not go attacking morals, please? Thank you.
