What if the past regenerations of the Disentangler and one partner/intern for each are pulled out for sinister reasons and the first story/multiple-parter involves the discovery of vegetal shenanigans. Then, they are dealt the crossover?
I can volunteer Agent Arti for this. He needs a bit more of a background to him. My expertise is mostly in the Keys to the Kingdom, so I can help out there.
…to work with the Sixth Disentangler for a time. I already have partners for Four and Five, and her third regeneration occurred in 2000.
Some of their backstories go back to 1995. Do you want me on one of the earlier regenerations?
The Second Disentangler (a cheerful sort) or the Third (who was rather unstable owing to the circumstances of her second regeneration).
Or do you want me to do both?
What were the years of their regenerations?
May 1993: The Disentangler recruited, a semi-fic blip from an abandoned Doctor Who fic. Sent to the DoIC.
November 1995: Zapped by the Emperor while facing a Star Wars-Myst Sue. First regeneration.
February 1999: Arrested by the DIS (Held three cells from Blue Photon).
June 1999: Mangled and left for dead by Twp'atwt in his massacre of the prisoners. Second regeneration.
April 2000: Contracted Krytos. Third regeneration.
March 2008: Roasted by Visser Three's new Balrog morph. Fourth regeneration.
July 2008: Shot by Sued!Legolas. Fifth regeneration.
I'm thinking of Anastasia Spade (DoIC, from Real World) for the Second and Dmitri Petrovich Ivanov (DoF, from Nochnoy Dozor continuum) for the Third. I haven't gotten to play with those two very much.
To about 1998, I'm guessing. But it's ok if you want him with one of the more recent incarnations.

I myself am familiar with only one, but there ought to be enough technical charges (plus too many fandoms crossed over).
