Have fun here!
Uh. Yeah. Greetings, I come in peace. Probably, anyway.
I've been lurking on PPC sites for...a really long time, but the board was, for some odd reason, not one of those websites.
So, I'm Anity, and this is my pet spork Laura, "rescued" from a Taco Bell utensil bin thingy. She is my second one- my original pet spork, Bob, was lost in the recent move and I have yet to find him, alas. He lived on my dresser; Laura lives on my computer desk, and utilizes camouflage to avoid detection. (She's black plastic, she sits on the black base of my monitor.)
Alrighty then. Random Me Facts. I'm an obsessive fan of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, demonstrated by regular posting on her website's forum and the fact that I'm always reading at least one of her books.
I read constantly, and there are always three or more books in progress. I also write, but not quite so reliably.
I love the rain, and am one of those crazy people who runs around outside at midnight without shoes on.
I can watch moving water or fire forever. This can cause problems, as demonstrated by today's bike ride- I kept getting distracted by the shiny water falls and creeks, then sliding down small cliffs (only a few feet!). Long story short, I've got a lot less blood than when I woke up this morning.
I like reading and memorizing poetry, like The Highwayman, and The Lady of Shalott. I also write poetry, but I can't speak for its quality and I won't pretend to.
I can rant on for quite a while, as seen above. And I'm gonna shut up and wait for comments now.
Welcome to the message board. I got into a bit of trouble recently for giving someone a self-assembly enema kit, so have a spork mattress (a comfortable resting place for the everyday spork on the go).
Thank you! Laura the Spork Once of Taco Bell will appreciate the mattress.
I gift you with psychic paper, useful in all kinds of situations. Just be careful not to let your mind wander, and don't use it after reading the Legendary Badfic.
Don't think anyone has said this, but in order to write for the PPC, you have to hang out on the Board at least a month, posting and chatting and such. When the month is up, you post asking for Permission, with your Agent(s), their Department, and a writing sample.
(Oh, and Atwater-Rhodes is awesome, I agree.)
Have fun here!
YES! More rain lovers! I give you a welcome gift - RAIN!
Actually, it's running water. One of those self-contained mini-environments that has a river flowing up and down hills and lifted by water-wheel to return to the beginning. Also, there's a little firebrand in the middle of the 'land'. Enjoy!
Oooo...0_o *stares dreamily* is so preeettyful...
Thanks!
It's always good to find another person who can't be in a rain shower without dancing! And another Atwater-Rhodes fan (love her vamps)! And distracted by moving shinys! And a poetry nut!
I think maybe I love you. XDD
Speaking of which, you heard Loreena McKennitt's song version of The Highwayman? She leaves out a few stanzas, but otherwise it's fantastic! I've always found that having a tune to the words makes memorizing much easier. And have you read John Masefield? His sea poems sometimes make me wonder if he didn't have a little of Tolkien's sea longing himself...
And now for the obligatory gift: the egg whisk! It's shiny, gold-plated, and it whisks eggs! Feel free to use on spambots and other nasties!
Welcome to the insanity!
Yay!
Yep, I'm a Loreena McKennitt fan as well, thanks to my dad. That song's quite good, though I prefer the song/poem Bonny Swans...which demonstrates how morbid I can be. (If you don't get that, google "Bonny Swans" or "Bonny Swans lyrics".)
Rain is meant for dancing, and running, and getting wet in, and sometimes staring at and listening to. No one else seems to agree with me there, but it *is*.
Like I said, I'm an obsessive fan of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, Kiesha'ra and vamps.
Shinys....prettyful shiny whisky thingy...
Agreed on the rain bit. Rain is also meant for smelling...oh, yes, rain is a five-senses thing...
So do I- I actually prefer it to Highwayman. (There's a song with similar lyrics, The Wicked Sister, by a singer called Meav, by the way.)
Yep. Tasting is a good activity with rain as well.
About the moving fire or water? Same here. I stare at candles for ages and ages and usually end up burning napkins and flower petals inside. *issuchapyro*
Buuut anyway. I give thee a Ypur, which was born from a spambot's typo and resembles a dark blue, spiky-horned yak. It eats sausages.
To save you some time, you also get a scarf made of Ypur fur.
So. Any agents?
Ooo, cute. It can live next to my desk, because the top's getting crowded (Lilly the iguana, Laura the Spork, computer, etc.) and I shall name it Noname (pronounced no-nawm-ay).
I have some agents, but they do not PPC yet, as I have yet to quite understand the Permission Givers. Is there some amount of time I have to wait before I can ask them?
But you can participate in roleplays and volunteer them for cameos and suchlike. You can introduce them, too, if you want.
Tlot in the frosty silence, tlot in the echoing night
Nearer he came and nearer, her face was like a light
Her eyes grew wide for a moment, she drew one last deep breath
Then her finger moved in the monlight
Her musket shattered the moonlight
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him with her death.
Memorizing poetry (and songs) is fun. Hooray for "The Highwayman"!
Anyway, I gift you with a harpsichord. Because harpsichords make everything better.
Got any Agents yet?
He turned, he spurred to the west!
He did not know who stood,
Bowed, with her head o'er the musket,
Drenched in her own red blood...
I prob'ly have the line breaks wrong, but I can recite it.
Shiny. The harpsochord can be played by my new iguana, because I certainly can't.
Welcome, Anity! I give you a coxcomb, which is a funny hat worn by old-fashioned jesters. It's fun.
Have a pair of ice skates.
Oooo! A reptile! Me loves them... and it's GREEN! Such a prettyful color....
I shall name it Lilly, and it shall live by my computer when I'm home and on my shoulder when I'm not, and it shall keep Laura the Spork company.
Apologies, I just had sugar. But hello anyway! *waves frantically*
Always lovely to have more newbies! Here you go! *gives bag of pebbles for throwing at Sues and a Random Shiny Object to gaze at*
And you have sporks! I have sporks too, somewhere, but my stuff's in such a mess at the moment that I cannot locate them. I'll find them soon, though.
There are several links which no doubt will be provided for you soon (I'd provide them but JulyFlame reserves the right to hand links out as newbie-gifts), which you should check out, if you have not done so already.
What fandoms do you cover, other than the books of the lady you already mentioned?
Oh, and just in case, if anyone gives you a link to something called C*l*br**n, That Series or anything called Legendary Badfic, in the name of everything sacred, DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK. Those things could and probably would break your brain.
Once again, welcome to the PPC and I hope to see you around!
Too late in the case of C*l*br**n, I read both the mission and the MST, and gained much mental scarring. Thanks for the warning, though.
Ooo! Rocks! And shinies! 0_o
I do Star Wars, movies, expanded universe, and KOTOR, but not as often as I used to. Also Anne McCaffrey, Potter, and many random books. I have knowledge of Twilight and all its sequels, but I hate the canon, so...
Oh, and I'm starting the Discworld novels and planing on aquiring The Golden Compass, but I can't do anything with those yet.
Well, I'm kinda new here myself, so I have no helpful hints or nifty items to give. I'm pretty good at digging up badfic when I put my mind to it, but somehow I don't think you'd want any.
Forgive my ignorance, but what has Amelia Atwater-Rhodes written? It's entirely possible I've read some of her books and not noted her name.
Also, The Highwayman = win, at least in my books. You've managed to get yourself tagged as a nifty person, congratulations. Here's a pointe shoe. Slightly dead shank-wise, but still hard enough in the box to cause unconsciousness when applied with sufficient force. Enjoy! : )
She wrote In the Forests of the Night, Demon in My View, Shattered Mirror, Midnight Predator, and the Kiesha'ra series (Hawksong and sequels). Her writing gets better as you go on.
Yeah, I find plenty of badfic by myself... it's a conspiracy, I tell you. And thanks!
*Gives first load of Bleepolate* That's Bleech, Asprin and Chocolate, in case you didn't know. Bleech to forget bad memories, asprin to get rid of the headache of reading bad stories and chocolate because, eh, who needs a reason for chocolate to be there?
Anyways! Welcome to the crazyness that is the PPC! Mind your first few steps, because if you aren't careful, they'll run off on you. I'm still looking for mine.
Thanks. I hadn't heard of Bleepolate, but now my existance is complete! (Well, maybe not quite. I still have to saddle and ride a zebra.)
And I'll keep that in mind. *duct tapes feet to legs* Oh ****, now I can't walk....
