*presents cake* Welcome back to the PPC!
I've got an idea for a potential agent, but it's kind of different, and I'm not entirely sure it works. What I'm basically looking for is someone to do a Bad Idea Check and say "No, that's really dumb" if it is, in fact, really dumb.
The character, Aaron Hunter, is basically Eren from Attack on Titan as a Fallout 3 character. I kind of keep meaning to write a story about it, but I can't decide if I want to make him the Lone Wanderer or a Wasteland native whose hometown was under constant attack from Super Mutants. The former allows for emphasis of the thematic parallels, but the latter allows for the appearance of other AoT characters (mostly Mikasa). As a side effect, Agent!Aaron has two sets of memories.
As far as his PPC counterpart goes, he's basically a generic Brotherhood of Steel recruit in terms of ability. The AoT connection is mostly there for the wacky hijinks angle; he's not really aware of it, but I can see it causing some amusing incidents when he gets missions from that continuum. Like a case of mistaken identity if he loses his cloak, or being forced to replace Eren by a Sue who consistently misspells the name, or trying to transform by biting his hand and being extremely embarrassed when absolutely nothing happens.
My main concern is that with the AoT connection, he's a borderline Stu, but without it, he's either not terribly interesting or a canon character. Is it okay? Or should I scrap the idea?
If without one trait your character becomes "not terribly interesting", perhaps he needs more traits! :P
I personally think that this would be okay and not a borderline stu at all.
Hello! Welcome to the PPC Posting Board! You seem to be new here, since I don't recognize your username. Or have you changed it recently, or been gone a while? Either way, won't you introduce yourself? People might feel more at ease about giving you feedback if they don't think you're WAY jumping the gun, posting about agents before we even know who you are. {= )

Oh, okay. I did introduce myself when I originally joined the Board; that was about two years ago. I just haven't posted very regularly since, as I was busy with school. I suppose I should re-introduce myself?
Normally, there's no need to post about your comings and goings, but two years is a long time, especially on the Internet. We get plenty of new people in just one year's time, so there are going to be those folks who've never seen you before and old codgers like me who just can't remember every screenname if it's not in front of my face regularly. ^_^;
You probably don't need to start a new thread, though. Just a clear subject header added to this thread would probably be fine.

Figured I'd add a writing sample, to give anyone reading more of an idea of the kind of things I have in mind.
Unfortunately for Aaron, the Laws of Narrative Comedy had a better sense of canon than the fic itself did. As he activated the MMD, his footing slipped and he turned slightly. Before he had time realize what was happening, he was flipped over, banging his head painfully against the ground, and end up dangling upside down. "What the hell?" he cried, trying to right himself. "That's not supposed to be possible! I specifically remember them saying that's not supposed to be possible!"
Natasha's lips quirked as she tried to suppress a laugh. "It's not possible with the training harnesses. On the other hand, if you manage to wrap the cable around your leg, it's pretty much guaranteed."
Aaron groaned. "Why do I only get the crappy parts of almost being a canon character?" he asked the world at large.
I haven't seen Attack on Titan yet. Fallout 3 is one of those post-apocalyptic FPS that I can't keep straight.
I like the two sets of memories, and I prefer thematic parallels.
My opinion on borderline Sues is that you just have to keep a very close eye on them and keep them from stealing the show. It sounds like you have a lot of material to use as his kryptonite, just be sure to give him balanced luck.
Their might be a streaming site were you can watch it. I highly recommend you go in with minimal spoilers though.
I'm just never in the mood to sit and read subtitles when I notice it. I'll try to keep in in mind. Sword Art Online is what keeps me company when I'm cooking.
And a pretty good one at that. The voice of Eren is my personal favorite.
