Since us PPCers are supposed to be both creative and crazy, I thought of something that should be right up our alley!
Have any of you heard the term "misheard lyrics" or "soramimi"? Long story short, you take a song that is in a language you don't know (or a song that is supposed to be in English, but is completely unintelligible) and make up lyrics based on what you heard. One of my favorites is this parody of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl theme song.
So my challenge to you, should you accept it, is this: There are two songs in desperate need of misheard lyrics! We have "Fighting Fate" and "Born Anew," both from Final Fantasy XIII! For either song (or both, if you're crazy enough), please make up the funniest misheard lyrics that you can, and post those lyrics under the appropriate sub-heading.
Have fun!
I'm sorry, but I just can't hear the words well enough to make up a homophonic translation. If there's another version of either of those songs that's a little heavier on the vocals and lighter on the orchestra, I'd be happy to try again.
Also, I would just like to say that Nobuo Uematsu is a genius. His music goes so far above and beyond what is required for a video game... it's almost unbelievable.
Here is a link to an "enhanced version of "Born Anew." It should be easier to hear the lyrics; they sound as clear as a bell to me.
I still have yet to find a link for "Fighting Fate."
Hope this helps!
Sorry, but I do not know of any links that are heavier on the vocals/lighter on the orchestra. However, if you search the name of the song on YouTube (e.g. "FFXIII Born Anew"; "FFXIII Fighting Fate"), you might be able to find something.
However, part of the fun of soramimi is that the lyrics aren't clear! That's what gives birth to such hilarity; we make up words based on what we hear. For example, with Born Anew, a common soramimi lyric I see for the first few notes is:
Give me coffee!
For the horse!
For!
The!
Horse!
which sounds nothing like the real Latin lyrics!
