There's a song that's reminded me consistantly of James Potter for several years now. It's called "To Know Her is to Love Her"; I don't know who it's by, but it was covered by the Beatles (I have it from a CD called 'The Beatles: Live at the BBC'), and it seems to me to fit James' thoughts (and mindset) about Lily Evans perfectly. (And yes, I think he'd at least appreciate the song.)
Also: "Paint it Black" (Rolling Stones)...well, I'd love to make some sort of joke about Sirius liking it, but it actually reminds me more of the Ninth Doctor, especially before he meets Rose. (To be clear--it seems more like a song he'd like than a song that characterizes him).
And "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen will forever remind me of AOS James Kirk, due to him singing along to it in a fanfic I read (and thereby introducing me to the song in the first place). Also, the idea of Jim Kirk liking Queen...well, it seems pretty perfect to me, really. It's exactly his sort of band.
