Or, at least that last two lines! It's almost the same as an old lullaby we have here in Poland. In rough translation, with no rhymes it goes like this:
There was a king, there was a page, and there was a princess.
Among roses they lived, they knew no storms,
of that you can be certain.
She was loved by the king, she was loved by the page,
this little charming lady.
And she did, too. She loved them both,
they lived in love together.
Alas, a sad day, a cruel twist of fate,
happened to all three of them.
A dog ate the king, a cat ate the page,
princess got eaten by a mouse.
Yet you should not fret, my darling child,
you should neither mourn nor cry.
The king was sweet cane, the page gingerbread,
the princess a marzipan pie.
