It is very painful to see, hear, and/or listen to. Especially when the person who wrote it is convinced that everything they wrote is true.

Even if you go into RPF with the best intentions, you gotta remember: in fiction, you're able to get directly inside the characters' heads. In real life, you don't have that advantage. Heck, I had some real life 'friends' who thought the story my classmate wrote about me was true, and they supposedly knew me better than anyone.

Just my two cents, but I think we ought to stay away from it, because the only person who would really be able to call what's OOC would be the real people themselves. Otherwise, you can end up being even more wrong than the fic.
