OH! London! I remember that place. ^_^
We should be available for parts of that time. Saturday is often a good day, because, y'know, no work. Sunday is also fine, though more of London tends to be closed. In other news, recent reports reveal that grass is green, and the sky is grey.

My family's got our plane tickets confirmed, and we'll be arriving in the UK on July 17th and going home July 25th. My family knows I'd love to meet some PPCers while I'm over there (and I think foofooman3 is looking forward to it as well), so I think they're willing to be flexible about when we can meet up.
It looks like we'll actually be in London for a few days, and my parents are more than happy to do a Gathering on July 22 (Saturday).
I'm trying to persuade them towards a museum trip, but any other suggestions?

But of course, you need to specify which ones...
We have the Natural History and Science Museums side by side, which is always my #1 default, but if you prefer stuff that's a) made by people and b) not made of metal, you might want to consider the British Museum instead (we went there in '14, we've never taken a Gathering to the others). Or if for some reason you like... I dunno, art? Fashion? Whatever's in there, there's the Victoria and Albert museum too.
And that assumes you want to get in for free! If you're prepared to pay, you can see the crown jewels and a bunch of weapons in the Tower of London, or... uh... probably lots of other things, I dunno, I don't like spending money. ^_^
Though if you want a chance of finding an actual (stuffed and/or skeletal) seal, the Natural History Museum is the place to go. (It's also far and away the prettiest of the buildings, having been created as a 'cathedral of science', because Victorian scientists were awesome.)

The Courtauld has an excellent tea room which caters to all, including nerds. =]
I saw a poster at the train station yesterday saying about a large exhibit all about robots at the NSM, it didn't seem to have an end date though, so I'll check again today in case, but if it's still on it may be interesting to go see.
Sorry to break it to you that way. :( Yeah, she's* been removed in favour of the blue whale skeleton. It's not all bad - they're sending her on a tour of the UK, and then constructing a bronze replica outside the front of the museum. Plus we have the Stegosaurus now at the other door, who I believe is named Sophie.

The reports just say they'll be putting the blue whale skeleton in for 'summer 2017', which might be in time... dunno.
Either way, we still have the full-sized blue whale model in its own hall, with skeletons of smaller whales hanging out with it. So there shall be whales, regardless of the rest.

Personally I'd prefer either the Natural History or Science Museum, but like I've said before I don't really mind.
Although the other two times I've been to the Tate were quite funny. Mainly because it was with my GCSE Drama group and some of them had no sense of time and/or direction.
... that stuffed CAFs, dinosaurs, other megafauna, shiny rocks, and an option to head down to Steampunk Central are more PPCish than a bunch of art. But 'at's me.

For the Tate Modern and the Geffrye Museum; the former is a beautiful art gallery, the latter is the surprisingly-fascinating museum of front rooms.
No, were it up to me I'd drag you all seal-watching, but it isn't. =]
There are boat trips to watch the seals in Ramsgate, which is near as makes no difference where I live. Ix has Feelings concerning seals. I thought we could combine the two.

(I meant seals someplace other than London, but now I really, really want to see this.)
My parents are slightly less enthusiastic about the idea. :P

Seriously though, I don't mind.
I'd love to come, but I'm not sure I'd be able to afford it, and exams start at the beginning of August. (As in, classes end on the 29th of July, and the first exam is on the 1st of August).
But I'm a bit strapped for cash
It just didn't quite work out, between moving suddenly and a bunch of other stuff. Maybe next year! I will keep saying this until it's true! {= D

Unless my thesis defense will drop anywhere in-between 13th and 27th I may be able to get to London. If you lot want me there, of course.
Just let me know exactly which day and I should be able to take some time off studies and be there.
I'd be in the UK usually, but I'm going to be in the US on those dates, so I'm afraid I can't come.
