What are some things that are usually done badly in fic that you've seen done well? by

I'll start by saying that I've seen Sauron's daughter done well. The author has admitted that she only slowly revealed the identity of the character's father because of how quick the Tolkien fandom tends to be about calling female OCs Mary Sues, but my personal opinion is that she never had anything to worry about.
The character is not only born at a time that makes sense, but the reasons for her existence in the first place also make sense: Her patronymic is Annatariel, her mother is a canonically plausible daughter of Caranthir, and Sauron, as Annatar, marrying Celebrimbor's cousin was part of how he integrated himself into Ost-in-Edhil and gained Celebrimbor's confidence. Melamire (the OC) speculates, with some reason, that Sauron had intended to make her one of his lieutenants once he revealed himself, a plan which failed to take into account her free will.

"Reverse"—Dramione and evil AU swept into one! by

Link if you're curious.
"Reverse" is weakly written at points, I'll admit, but it's by far the best Dramione AU I've ever read. The premise is that Hermione, during the Battle of Hogwarts, gets hit by a spell and wakes up in an alternate universe where the good guys are the bad guys, the bad guys are the good guys, and Muggle-lovers are subjecting the more traditional wizarding world. It's pretty decent (though I'll admit there are a few moments that make me roll my eyes) but it's far and away the best example of this genre of Potterfic I've seen. Highly recommend and it's made me genuinely tear up a few times. TW for abuse, violence, and gore.

Here's another Tolkien one: Girl falls into Middle-earth and becomes the Tenth Walker by

JunoMagic/satismagic's Lothiriel manages to do "Girl falls into Middle-earth and becomes the Tenth Walker" in a canon respectful manner.
It does use the "Westron is English" convention, but other than that, I can't recall any canon issues and in light of how good the story is, I can ignore it. It even manages to place her as the Tenth Walker in a logical manner - Gandalf suggests sending nine and one walkers, to quote directly from the story, "A counterpart to the nine riders foul and black, and one on top, a sign of hidden strength we may yet possess."
There are also some formatting issues in earlier chapters, but they aren't so bad as to make it unreadable.

And don't forget "Don't Panic" in that category... (nm) by

Yeah, that's a great "Girl falls into Middle-earth" one too, but it doesn't do the Tenth Walker (nm) by

*Miraculous Ladybug* saltfics are definitely hit-or-miss by

On one hand, that sweet, sweet catharsis from the pain caused by questionable writing in the show. On the other, 75% chance of Alya in particular being wildly OOC, nevermind the fics that possess basically the entire class as well, and strong overtones of victim blaming.
For good saltfics, see: basically any of the ones quicksilversquared has written. For a particular fic, Lies We Tell (Ourselves) by MiniMinou is a (wip) deconstruction/reconstruction of your usual bad saltfic.

I have seen some creativity in a Warframe badfic(NSFW, Warframe spoilers and paedophilia) by

Yes if you can see that this post is marked as NSFW by the Stalker.
I have read a few Warframe badfics, and the only thing that has been done well I believe, is the fact that the Sues and Stus are kind of creative. Why? Because they turned their Warframes into sex dolls.
Who needs to spend the money on blow up dolls or a prostitute, or heck even a girlfriend/boyfriend if you can have a sentient suit of armor( that’s also filled with parasites)who can give you blowjobs for free?
But this makes me even more uncomfortable is the fact that Operators are children, and even though they are immoral and will never age, it’s damn creepy.
So here’s one, and GMA go wild.

Snape teaches sex ed. by

Does the thought horrify you? It should! In this fic by Luna LoveWell, Snape isn't happy about it, either, and he's his usual abrasive self throughout. The situation is played for comedy, and it works. ^_^ May be considered NSFW and the post wants you to be 18+ to view it, but IMO, if you've had sex ed yourself, you'll probably be okay. No promises regarding the comments, though.

That definitely sounds like something that would be HARD to do well. I'll make sure to check it out, then.

THE CLASS, about the Animorphs getting sex ed from a Yeerk-infested Chapman. It's exactly as funny as it sounds—and I'm pretty sure you've read it before, Nesh, but I'm hoping someone who hasn't will get a kick out of it. :D

Sauron/Morgoth slashfic, with neither of them woobified. by

Before I found the PPC, I liked reading about that pairing. And my, like more than fifty percent of fics have one or both of them woobified. I had my standards set low, and even then I was rolling my eyes every three pages.
Loyalty Unyielding by Zlukaka and Luffik had none of that. In fact, it was the only one that met post-PPC me standards. The inner monologues fit perfectly with those of two power-hungry, selfish villains, and they even added a redemption arc for Morgoth.
I was expecting it to go downhill with every chapter, maybe have Morgoth, like in so many fanfics before, start abusing poor little Sauron, who can not and will not fight back due to unrequited love for his master. But this Sauron surpassed my expectations and stood his ground, and, to be more frank, took no fuvg. Not from anyone, being the egoistic little son of a werechihuahua he is. Morgoth? Fits all the criteria for 'evil' as stated in the Silmarillion.
If you're going to read it, I'm giving some warnings: borderline non-con situations and, of course, NSFW stuff. Because after all, this is still a slashfic.
