So, I'm currently writing my first mission in the Rescue Bots continuum, which happens on the same timeline as Prime (if we really want to get technical, the mission is on a fic that has a Sue who goes to the Rescue Bots some time after helping Team Prime out, although said helping is only mentioned in passing.) There is no official mini for Prime or Rescue Bots.

My proposal: Make the mini type for at least Prime-verse and Rescue Bots mini-Vehicons. Vehicons are the (somewhat) mindless minions of Megatron in Prime. Since they are Cybertronians, they can transform into cars, jets, helicopters, or tanks. Since they are (canonically) controlled by Megatron, they are enemies to the protagonists (the Autobots). They are unique to Transformers (the design I'm basing them off of is unique to Prime). In canon, they talk when it's funny to do so.

I had never looked up what Ick-Yaks were before now. I had kind of assumed it was the name of that little spiky bad guy in the first Micheal Bay movie . . . but it turns out they're dinosaurs? That only appeared in flashbacks narrated by a senile character? Even worse, they apparently breathe fire, which means this is

Ugh. Yeah, I feel like those were a poor choice for mini. Plus, it would feel weird for a series about robots not to be represented by a robot mini, yeah?

—doctorlit thinks mini-vehicons would be fine for the entire Transformers franchise, but he'll leave the specifics up to people who have watched more than just Beast Wars, eh?

But completely agree, Ick-yaks are definately the wrong choice. Vehicons are a great choice for Prime, although they didn't exist in continuities prior to Beast Machines if memory serves, so I'm not sure if maybe G1 up to Beast Wars should maybe have something seperate?

I was mostly thinking of having mini-Vehicons for the Aligned community at most (which includes Prime, Rescue Bots, Rescue Bots Academy, Robots in Disguise (2016), and maybe one other). However, RID 2016's mini is up to the first person who missions in that universe. Since Rescue Bots is so intertwined with Prime (especially with some of those Sues. Those who defeat the 'Cons and are on Team Prime and then are sent to Griffin Rock...), I think I could safely say that minis from Prime should be mini-Vehicons, especially with the Sue mentioning Team Prime and being pretty in depth about it (also, Starscream arrives later to fight the Sue, so could be considered a Prime and Rescue Bots crossover). Rescue Bots Academy is essentially Rescue Bots but for preschoolers (Rescue Bots was marketed toward kindergartners and elementary school kids).

Either way, I got it in my plans to claim a Prime badfic and an Academy badfic (both of which have spelling errors of ~~people~~ Cybertronians).

But I believe you're right, Meta. I don't recall Vehicons being before Beast Wars. Maybe use your suggestion of mini-Seekers, if you were to do a mission in G1 through Beast Wars.

(Edit: Why did I explain all of that? Aligned community is Aligned community; they exist on the same timeline.)

Well, the rules say the first person to find a mini in a given continuum gets to choose, so the choice is yours.

That said begin old school, I'd be remiss if I didn't at least say that Mini-Seekers would be cool. Not just because I'd want one of course. ;)

... is because the mini type for Transformers (not specified as to which continua) is listed as mini-Ick-Yaks (developed during a Board conversation), and the mini page states the following:

"There are probably some instances in which minis were named before this rule was agreed upon. In that case, if the original mini-namer can't be found and there are no instances of that type of mini anywhere, it's probably okay to petition the Board to make them something different if you want to."

Underneath the mini-Ick-Yaks:

"This mini type is not yet official and can be changed by the first writer of a Transformers OFU or the first to write a Transformers mission that produces a mini."

I just wanted to be on the safe side and petition the Board first before I finish the mission.

As for the mini-Seekers, perhaps they could be added to a different continuum of Transformers? (Since I'm talking about the Aligned Community minis and there are so many continua of Transformers that we could maybe have different minis. Big maybe, though.)

Tl;DR: Mini page said to petition the Board if the mini type was unofficial; therefore, I am, just to be on the safe side. Also, Transformers has a ton of different universes.

I think in that you answered your own quedtion. Given the data on current TF Minis is old enough to be uncertain who created them, it stands to reason they predate the Prime contiuum. :)
