Sometimes, when even the lightest Sherlock Holmes or Miss Marple story is A Bit Too Much, all you need is incredibly low-stakes tales about kids solving mysteries. Well, good news!
From the Casefiles of Daphne Illian-Sims, Diminutive Detective: The Case of the Stolen Snacks
We got kids (they're half-elven, but they're still kids). We got mysteries. And the stakes could not possibly be lower. Enjoy!
(I've also added the story that moved the Illian-Sims family to New Cal to AO3: The Road to New Caledonia. If you want to know what their house looks like, that's where the picture is.)

The short length really helps, and the kids' conversation whirlwinding into words that sound like "distraction" feels like Classic Kid Stuff. I got a strong sense of everyone's personalities, and I like it!
Cute and clever! I love how each child shows some tell that they participated. Also, amused that Constance definitely knew beforehand and clearly didn't care that much in the first place! Also, kids emulating the canons they're learning is peak PPC—and peak real life, come to think of it!

Mystery. Deception. Intrigue. Kids being adorable. Cookies. A satisfying ending reminiscent of a certain Christie plot.
Ten outta ten, no notes.
That's just adorable. And quite funny.
Somehow I managed to catch the ao3 version before its official posting.
I’ll get to the investigation one Soon©️.
