Legolas cast as James Herriot of "All Creatures Great and Small".

Don't think it's sporkably bad, but I thought it was amusing and wanted a second opinion. -

I was kind of excited by the prospect, actually. But then I read it, and it was more of a dull Legolas/Aragorn romance than anything to do with animals. Too bad.

A much better (non-LOTR, sadly) take can be found ... by

Rarely enough to I see good stuff posted here. It's kind of refreshing. And what a good story it is, too.

Think we need a goodfic sharing thread? by

I found another one I'd kind of like to share - a case of guro done right ;) Though I know extreme violence isn't to everyone's taste, I'm sure some people here wouldn't mind it.

Actually I've been meaning to ask ... by

... about the Rec Center. I have on occasion come across a fic that may not be entirely well executed, but still have some elements that I find worthy of praise. It could be the authors take on characters, environment or other such details.
Could I post those in my Rec Center (if I actually get around to making one) provided I write clearly in the description what I find good, but also where I find it lacking? Or should I only use the Rec Center for actual recommendations of good fics? -

Avoids the 'elves are better than everyone else' stereotype, maintains that some ugly fantasy creatures are nice (beauty =/= goodness) and depicts cute idyllic fantasy scenes (cuddling baby unicorns) in a realistic and critical light.
I am Aster and I approve of this piece of fiction. -

I want to print it out, wrap it around a brick and hand it to my agents, so they can use it to smack the next Sue who shows up with a glittery unicorn.

I'm unsure if James Herriot fic counts as RPF. by

The events are real, and the characters are based at least a bit on real people, but they're all renamed and so on.
