So. Yeah...
Thoughts?
If no one has laid claim, my Agent is rather ready to get back out on the field.
(List of crimes so far: OCxDraco; character revisionism; Mary Sue)
It doesn't seem so bad at first, but then the questions start raising their ugly heads. Why, if Rose's family has a tradition of being Gryffindors and her parents were members of the Order of the Phoenix, are they friends with the Malfoys? Since when was Draco ever "sensitive," and how exactly is it "their time at Hogwarts" that has changed him and not, say, the influence of his Death Eater father and their Death Eater friends? Why the heck is Rose allowed anywhere near Grimmauld Place when Harry, Ron, and Hermione were only barely tolerated? I know what Nargles are, but what's a Nargel? Why must the title remind me of Jaycacia Thornbyrd?
... Yeah, have at it, I say.

Definitely not the most offensible material out there, but I'm rather rusty, so I need something to dig into. She seems to fit the bill enough; especially considering how much character revisionism she does.
that these bad Mary Sue fanfics are written by girls :P
I mean, in my experience, the vast majority of Mary Sues are written by female authors. I'm sure you can find some that aren't, but when I hear hoofbeats, I tend to think horses, not zebras. Doesn't Occam's Razor apply here? Where's the line between an assumption and an educated guess?
Just to be clear, this is meant as philosophical thinking aloud, not a demand for answers. {= )
~Neshomeh
for the most excessive and technical analysis of the word "assume" that I've ever heard.
If excessive and technical analysis of words isn't your thing, you are so in the wrong community. ^_~
(Plus, that wasn't even an analysis. If you want that, I'll have to go study the etymology of the word for a while.)

*clears throat*
Assume: from the Latin words ad (toward) and sumere (to take).
Its first appearance in English was in the fifteenth century in the form of the Middle English word assumpten, in regards to the assumption of the Virgin Mary.
I haz an internet!
That is your homework for the evening. Bring me a two page paper on the word "assume"
It's a common stereotype that most fanfiction writers are girls. And these Sues usually tend to be self-inserts, so...
I did some dredging of the author's bio and found her blog. Most definitely of the feminine sort.
The only thing I don't know is her age... you agist. :P
It says she is 17, and if I am really agist, that would mean I am agist against myself, since I'm also 17. Maybe it's just another part of my own self loathing ;-;
*points to self, then realizes who she's talking about*
Uh, never mind. Carry on. ^^;
There's an -ist for age now?! Man, I'm only 20 (nearly 21) and I'm already feeling old.

Anyway, from what I just read, I've defiantly seen worse, but it looks like it would make a good mission.
And it's keeping a theme of sorts... Harry's mother was Lily, his aunt was Petunia, so Rose is another in the list of flower names for the family.
Or Violet. They could also use Amaranth, Azalea, Daisy, Holly, Iris, Jasmine, etc.
Because why not? I like plant names. Shush. >.>
Acacia (hello, agent!)
Angelica

And that's just what I can come up with looking through the index of my herbs book, and a few off the top of my head, leaving out anything I know already belongs to a character in the Potterverse. Some of 'em could even work for a male character.

Chrysanthemum is a nice name, and easily shortened to Chrystie.
I have seen way too many Sues named Holly, Violet, and Jasmine, as well as Lily/Lilly. I would send out a general plea for originality, but that's when you wind up with names like Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way.
Not Eboby or Enoby or Ebory? And I don't think it is all that original. I mean the "relationship" between Tara/Raven is almost a ripoff of the Tara/Raven relationship from Teen Titans Animated Universe. At least that's what I thought when I read bits of it.
No it's not like I'm biased
Ugh, that title makes me want to retch.
Just in the first chapter she has her OC house-elves acting OOC; they don't say 'milady', they say 'miss' or 'mistress'.
But who is this chick and why is Harry staying at her house and not the Weasleys'? What is this what is going on aaargh!
It always comes back to My Little Pony.
*tears up when she sees pony!Rose*
CURSE YOU, JUMPER!
There's no reason to cry. In this world, she is still traveling with the Doctor. See, look! It's canon! So, nothing to be sad about.
You know... SPOILERS FOR SEASON FIVE
I am really looking forward to what they do in the 100th episode. They have said that Dr. Whooves would become even more canon (though not full canon, as the BBC has not given permission) and join in antics with other background ponies. I hope for the best in that episode.
