Passed the second and third one, the fourth one doesn't apply to me because I did not create a kekkei genkai. The first one I am a bit iffy about, mainly because it assumes the OC was raised in one of the villages and born naturally, mine are synthetic like Mitsuki. It also accounts for only the Manga canon whereas I used a composite canon. I also did not do anything included in the rant.

I don't remember exactly when I read Sorcerer's Stone, but it was somewhere near the middle of elementary school. I got hooked on the series, and I definitely remember getting Order of the Phoenix for Christmas one year. (And then reading it as soon as I could.) I'm actually surprised that the publication date was as early as it is.
Anyhow, this here rather difficult trivia quiz got posted in chat this morning (by Scape, IIRC). I only got 13/20, a good few of which were lucky guesses.Where do I turn in my nerd card? :P

So many good times, so many memories. One of the first book series I ever really got into, and a constant source of joy and inspiration for most of my life.
Happy anniversary, Harry. Stars only know where we'd be without you.

After all, the Bad Role-Play Department is a thing, and role-plays aren't strictly narrative. (Boy, would I give a lot to get that spin-off back.) I do think we should put off officially creating new departments until someone is actually prepared and skilled enough to do such multimedia sporkings.
I've always loved the idea of doing radio plays/audiobooks of the PPC. I don't if YouTube has an option for a shared community channel, though. While I do like the idea of giving such a channel's revenue away in donations, I'm not sure it would be worth the effort of running. (And personally, while I recognize that donating to writing sites would be "on theme" for us, I would rather give the money to something a little more practical/material, like food banks or such.)

I still remember when I got the first book (
It was four years after its initial release, but shush). I was seven, and it was the first book I've read on my own... well, ever. I stayed up late and in the corner of our shared bedroom (Before I had my room finished, I was sleeping on a sliding sofa) read the first three chapters right away.
Hmm, the next books came to me in a variety of ways. The second I got, once again, from my aunt. The third one I bought myself while on a shopping trip for shoes. The Goblet of Fire I actually borrowed from a classmate, but accidentally tear a little of the final page... So we've decided to buy her a new book, and I got to keep hers. The next two I actually got pre-ordered so that I'd get them right on the release day. And... I think I bought the last one the day after Midnight Release.
So yeah, good times. I still adore the series, and even though there are some things I would like to see play out differently, I wish to thank both the author, and the fanbase for the best eight years of my childhood! :DAlso, as far as I've heard, the US version changed the name, because the majority of Americans were unfamiliar with the lore and legend behind the Philosopher's Stone...

Yes, folks, it's here: the twentieth anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone's publication, known in the US as ... Sorceror's Stone for reasons that continue to elude me. So celebrate! What are your HP memories? Do you have any? Where were you when Fred was... well, that's still spoilers. Somehow.
But yeah, let's remember how things were back in the dim and distant past before Pottermania made everyone realise that YA fiction didn't have to be Jacqueline Wilson-tier glurge to be lucrative. Let's remember that people - hell, even some Boarders - grew up after it, with everyone and their dog reading Wizard!Just William considered normal. And let's look forward to the future: there will be more. There will always be more, whether we want it or not.

I don't know too much about the specifics of things in the Naruto world, so I can only help RS a little with basic concepts and whatnot. Perhaps somebody could come help with details?
(In the meantime, I'd like Remnant to also take a Naruto Mary-Sue test, just because fandom-specific litmus tests are helpful for figuring out what's normal and what's pushing it for a specific world.)

Didn't post earlier because I have reactions to the interlude:
- The pun in the title was good
- That subtitle is reassuring, somehow
- I can see why Ripper would go for that birthday present, going off of species
- I like the description of Ripper's "don't ask" look
- "What to do with the meat" is going to be a running theme, I expect
- I'm not, in general, a fan of Rashida being insulting and such, but character flaws are important things, so let's consider just a snapshot of my opinion
- There's a "Rosh" in there somewhere. Typo?
- The exposition-bearing dialogue about various peoples' species was well done
- Ok, I'm now slightly confused [at the part where everyone meets Lilac]. Is Rashida in the RC or not? And whose voice was coming from in there?
- Falc, what in the world did you mean by that "supposed to be"? ... Well, whatever you were getting at, some sort displeased reaction was totally called for there on Lilac's part
- "...won't have you upstaging..." seemed like a noticeable shift from Falchion being super-apologetic a moment ago, but that could just be me
- I can feel the interleaved, swirling conversation after Chris phones in, so if that's what you wanted to represent, you've done it
- Everyone's rather aware of the fourth wall. I can't seem to put my finger on if the specifics of that awareness are unusual or not. If it works, it works, though.
- [around when Valon gets in] Wow, there's a massive pile of characters in this thing
- Falchion is rather insistent on keeping this about him (not a criticism, really, but an observation)
- The knife is a nice present
- Either that kiss was came somewhat out of nowhere or it was set up in something of yours I haven't read.
- Threats of a shield-hammer seem appropriate under the circumstances
- Not having cake can be a logistical challenge
- That does sound like a good birthday thing
- Meat situation is still somewhat unresolved, semi-disappointingly, but the bit about cooking was funny
- I like the bit near the end with Rayner and E.V.L. It was funny.
General thoughts are that this was conversation heavy, but it's an interlude, so that's sort of expected. The long speech was well done as far as long speeches ago.
Hope this isn't too confusing and maybe even helpful.

How's this look? by

Two agents sat in RC 113a. One, an anthropomorphic fighter plane, was performing maintenance on her main gun. The other, a human woman with gold eyes and long black hair tied back in a ponytail, was using said eyes to attempt to glare lasers at the RC's console. This did not work, due to her unfortunate lack of laser vision. After several silent minutes of fruitless attempts to destroy the console with her gaze, she asked her partner, “Effie?”
“Yes, Min Ra?”
“How do you manage to keep so calm all the time, what with that Agni-damned console that you refuse to blow up and won't let me burn going off at unpredictable intervals? It's hard to even complete a firebending form without that blasted thing beeping!”
“It is our duty as PPC agents to be ready at all times to exorcise the influence of Mary Sues. I rather look forward to it,” Effie Raptor answered.
Min Ra leaned forward from where she was sitting on her bed, pondering what her partner could possibly mean by that. She was looking forward to being woken up at any hour of the night...day… however time worked in HQ. How was that kind of attitude possible, unless…
Min Ra suddenly sat up straight.
“I got it!” she exclaimed, “it's reverse psychology! The console always beeps when you don't want it to, so if you want it to beep, it won't and you can get some time to yourself! I'm gonna try that!”
She then stared intensely at the console with what was probably intended to be an eager look. Effie, curious about what would happen, observed her quietly. She didn't have long to wait before Min Ra's attempt turned up a result.
BEEP!
“Darnit!”
Min continued to curse at the console as it lit up and displayed their next mission, like always. Effie made sure to read all the data and conceal her smile at Min's expense, and Min Ra got their gadgets ready for the assassination to come. Oh well, maybe she'd get the trick to it next time.
------
In all of Min's experience, Effie Raptor was not someone prone to being frantic. She had never yet observed her partner being anything but calm and precise, presumably because being distracted at Mach 2 and 30,000 feet would likely result in a death that would be quite spectacular to anyone but the unlucky fool who had to experience it.
And yet, there Effie was, nearly tearing the RC apart in search of something. After a few minutes of Effie fruitlessly looking for whatever she'd lost, Min decided to ask her, “What's lit your hair on fire, Effie?”
“I lost a package of TNT.”
Min replied, “Okay, that's bad, but-”
“I think it's on your side of the room.”
That got a response. Min immediately got off the bed, declaring, “Okay, I'm looking. I am not risking getting blown up in the middle of firebending practice.”
Min started looking through her stuff, searching for whatever it was that Effie had lost. She had turned her living space into quite a mess by the time she realized she had no idea what she was looking for. She knew what TNT was, but she didn't know what this particular batch looked like. So she asked Effie, “Um, what should I be looking out for?”
“An unpainted metal box, small enough to be held with both hands-” Effie began to respond, before Min interrupted. “You've got tons of those, you even gave me a few when I broke my shelf last week.”
Effie shot her partner a disapproving look at the interruption. “And it is clearly labeled 'Trinitrotoluene, 4 kg'”
Min Ra thought for a bit. “Wait, you meant this box?” she asked.
She then rearranged some of the mess to reveal a small metal box, one of several around. The difference was that this one was entirely unpainted and very clearly labeled 'Trinitrotoluene, 4kg'. Min handed it to Effie, who looked rather surprised to see her problem solved just like that. She asked Min: “How did you miss that one?”
Min shrugged and said, “Didn't know what I was looking for and thought it was the one I stored my firebending scrolls in.”
Effie stared at her partner with something resembling visible disbelief. “But it was clearly labeled with what it was. How could you miss it?”
Min Ra was confused. “No it wasn't. It's labeled trinitrotoluene, and you were looking for TNT,” she told Effie.
Effie, exasperated, corrected her. “They are the same thing. TNT is short for trinitrotoluene.”
Min sat there for a few moments in silence, blinking and taking what was, in hindsight, freaking obvious. 'Trinitrotoluene' was rather unwieldy to say in casual conversation, and English was very conducive to shortening long words. There didn't seem to be any more she could say on the topic, so instead she apologized. “Sorry about the mistake. I really hate contractions. Pictographs are so much more straightforward.”
Effie reassured her, “That is comparatively unimportant. Rather more important is that you ask me what you're looking for before tearing up your room. That will take hours to clean up.”
Min Ra sighed in irritation. Like many teenagers around the multiverse, cleaning her room was very low on her (metaphorical) list of things she liked to do with her spare time. So she pleaded with Effie. “Can't I just leave it like this?”
Effie, now that the trouble was over, had resumed her cold and emotionless demeanor. “Your neuralizer is part of that mess, so no.”
It took a while and much more foot-dragging, but eventually Min Ra cleaned up her side of the RC under Effie Raptor's watchful eye. As Effie kept pointing out more important things that she'd missed, either accidentally or on purpose, Min hoped that the console would beep and she'd get a mission she could use to procrastinate her room cleaning.
But, in accordance with the Laws of Narrative Irony, it never did.

if you're willing to put up with rather long delays caused by my having a whole lot more things to do than time to do them in, I'd be willing to help write a thing if you'd prefer not to do it yourself, even though there's nothing stopping you from doing that (you don't need Permission to MST). I don't trust myself enough to keep the canons in character on my own, but I figure either you or the two of us could maybe manage it?
I've also been quite happy with the quality of the YW fanfic on AO3, so any badfics are probably either deeply buried or hiding on FFNet somewhere.
My email is clickable if you want to coordinate (again, you don't have to).

Wow, really? I've never really seen myself creating this sort of thing; usually I'm just an observer.
As for the what, I was figuring maybe some of the older fics on FFNet? Since the recent stuff really is high quality, especially on AO3. Maybe people could submit stuff and we'd do this as a group?
