But I'd still like to. Don't suppose the Flowers could loan you a neuralyser, could they? ;)

Um. So, my LJ got found by one of my officemates, because I managed to forget to f-lock a post that involved something he's researching, so of course he found it when he Googled it.
This is Bad.
Y'know what's on my LJ? ... quite a lot of quite explicit slash. Yeah.
I'm going to be moving to Dreamwidth, getting a separate journal for my personal stuff, and basically dumping my LJ. It's a case of duck and cover, stop drop roll, all that stuff.
So, if you're on my flist, don't panic, I'm not dead, I'm just hiding in a bunker. Everything's been either f-locked or private-locked for now and I get to spend tomorrow setting up a DW account and moving everything.
So, none of the links to missions that are on my LJ will be working on the Wiki for a while. I'll change them all when I get it all sorted.
- Trojie, currently freaking out
So, we've got two shiny new dreamwidth journals set up, one for fanfic (gmtaslash.dreamwidth.org), and one for missions (rc45.dreamwidth.org). Both imported fine, although now we're faced with the lengthy task of going through and deleting everything irrelevant. Also, the amount of a href links that will need fixing is phenomenal.
There is one thing you (general you) could do to help if you've got time: there are close to sixty mission links, plus various interludes, MSTs, AHAIRQL matches and the like, listed on the wiki that all point to the now-locked lj. All of these links will need changing to point to the appropriate shiny new dreamwidth entry. Said entries should be easy to find, since everything that was imported was locked and we're only unlocking the missions (although they're not all unlocked yet - Trojie's currently working her way through them). So, if anyone's got some time to kill and fancies a spot of wiki editing... *puppy eyes*
Pages I can think of off the top of my hand that will have links to be changed:
Trojanhorse; Paddlebrains; Oscar Henson; Iza; Stevius; Veridian Green; Marsha; Katie Cray; Gypsy; Lasa; Montbretia Tornquist.
*disappears to continue the laborious process of sorting the new fic journal*
I'm making sure people in RL don't know about my LJ (well, there's a guy in the scifi club at uni I'm thinking of introducing to the PPC, but he's nice, so ...) for the same reason.
Would it really get you any worse trouble than some funny looks, though? I don't really see how what you do in your spare time is his business.
No, they can't *do* anything about it, but it would make me look bad in the eyes of the old men that I have to work with and need to learn from.
I have a similar problem with my MSTing of a fic involving lemony bits with an underage character. If it was illegal to do that someone would have told me so by now, and given that A) the characters are blatantly fictional, B) I didn't write the fic in question and I said so, C) the reason I'm quoting it is to point out how bad the writing is and I made it abundantly clear that that was the reason, D) nobody arrested Stephen King for that scene in "It", I REALLY don't think it'd have any legal repercussions other than possibly "oi, stop copy-pasting other peoples' work" and given that it's a fanfic even that doesn't really apply, but I'd still like to keep it away from people who would give me funny looks over it, like my student counsellor.
I got scolded for talking about work on a LiveJournal during my internship last summer. It could have been worse--it could have been a real job--and this is a slightly different situation, but I still feel your pain. Hopefully it won't come to anything major. *hug*
~Neshomeh
I've already had the 'friendly, joking' blackmail threats, and everytime he says the word 'art' or 'creativity' in front of anyone else he gives me the I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER eyebrow.
A) There is NO SUCH THING as a friendly joking blackmail threat, blackmail is NOT FUNNY and people have been ruined by this sort of thing
and
B) I now feel kind of violated.
I know it'll blow over and it was my own stupid fault for forgetting to lock an entry that had a word pertinent to his research interests in it, but ... it's like a gut-punch to have someone actually tell you that they think you're disgusting, even if they said it supposedly jokingly, and then to, even 'jokingly', threaten that they've 'saved all the bits they need' and that they could 'have fun' with this ... it hurts.
BASTARD. How much is a flight up there? I'm going to break his teeth.
... I have to work with him, and will do for the rest of my life. NZ geology and palaeontology isn't such a big field that I can risk making a huge deal of this. It's best to just let it blow over, which I am doing. If he and I fell out over it, not only would I end up losing a mate (yes, a mate who's currently being a dickhead, I know) but also a potential collaborator and someone who would then in the future probably be in the right place to, if he so chose, reject any of my academic papers that came his way for review. Not that I think he *would*, but it's worth bearing in mind.
I appreciate the sentiment a lot, just so you know. But duck and cover is still my best option :)
But I'd still like to. Don't suppose the Flowers could loan you a neuralyser, could they? ;)
That would be very handy!
(minor update - I'm keeping my LJ for personal stuff and friendslocking it, and PPC and fic stuff will go onto two separate journals co-owned by Pads and I on Dreamwidth)
I was all confusled. :)
No need for confuzzlement, Sedri dear. Nothing's disappearing from the lj, it's just all being flocked. And since Trojie's got you friended, that means you can still get at everything. See, it'll work fine.
It's all "flocked", hmmm? :P
The hyphen is on its way out, dear.
Don't worry. While you and I draw breath, the hyphen lives on!
~Neshomeh, who Believes.
And I! And I!
...even if I do write it 'flocked'. But that's because I find it amusing that I've seen that used as an expletive substitute.
I STILL BELIEVE IN HYPHENS!
So, every time you see mention of the Reorganisation, does it make you *twitch*?
But "re-" is an acceptable prefix for a word - "friends-" is not. So it (or its abbrevated form, "f") needs a hyphen to attach it to the second word. Says me.
...This is going to start another round of the Great Hyphen Debate, isn't it?
.........in which there are approximately twenty-three ellipses, and another in which that same mark has been created by holding down the period key for an undetermined length of time..
There are exactly two ways to make an ellipsis: three dots with no spaces between them and three dots with spaces between them, depending on the publisher's style. Three dots. No more, no less. Three shalt be the number of dots in an ellipsis, and the number of dots shall be three! Four thou shalt not count; neither count thou two unless thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out!
So there. *folds arms and looks cross*
~Neshomeh
*is hit by barrage of extra dots in ellipses* Ow!
Nesh, that's... perfect. We should put it on a flag.
THE HYPHEN WILL LIVE ON IN OUR HEARTS!
I'd break out the shotgun by way of argument, but I am too distracted by the sudden realisation that there are only four more posts to sort out and then the fic journal is done and I can sleep.
*sneaks off to confiscate every shotgun in the country*
It's not like you were going on about how much you hate everyone at your work and want to kill them all, is it? You just happen to like writing about teh mansecks. Which you write well. So please, keep telling us when you have new shinies for us! *gives cookies to the Trojie*
But couldn't you set up different LJ accounts instead of Dreamwidth? That way we could continue linking back and forth and having you on f-lists. You'd just need to wait a while so he doesn't trace back to you through us as mutual friends.
Either way... :( Not good. Poor Trojie. *HUGS*
Dreamwidth allows us to import a friendslist and basically means you'll still see our posts on your lj flist, and will have permission to comment on them on dw even if they're locked. So it shouldn't be too much of a bother, really.
As for the tracing Trojie back, I think the most important thing is getting the porn separated from the uni-related posts. If each is on a separate account, and the two aren't linked, then even if someone knows it's the same person posting, it's hardly sullying the good name of Trojie's uni, and what she posts on her own time is, obviously, her own business. And I always post the porn if she's at work anyway, so that's alright.
Also, we'd been meaning to tidy up that lj for a while anyway - for a start, Trojie doesn't like having her fanfic and her PPC missions all mixed up together and on an account she uses on various comms both to post fic and to find badfic. This has just meant we've had to get on with the process rather sooner than intended, that's all.
I'm in the process of importing the missions to a dreamwidth account; we've gone with rc45 as a username, if anyone wants to add it. There'll be a separate journal for other fanfic too.
Let me know and I'll get onto it. I've never touched Dreamwidth before so it'll take me a little while.
*hugs Pads* Here's to good friends. *sigh* I really ought to pull my real-world stuff from my account, too.
I've never used it either. Got an account but never needed it. Only one of my contacts has switched over to dw, and they've got their flist imported so I miss nothing, which is how I know that's possible. At any rate, I'm going to be thrown in at the deep end as soon as the import's finished, because there's going to be a lot of tidying up to do.
Let me know if there's something I can do to help.
I can make it do that. Or rather, Pads can, at the moment, because she's being a star and sort of doing the organising, as well as having gone through and helped me lock every single post to my LJ, because my brain has gone flurgy
Incidentally, I cannot wait for the day lj introduces blanket privacy setting options. One should not have to manually go through each post.
It's just one of those features they keep to paid-account-only. Blargh, etc.
But I'm not sure if that changes ones you've already posted or will only affect those you post in the future.
It only affects future posts. This is why, if you look at my lj when you're not logged in, aside from a few random posts it looks like I've been utterly silent since 2006 - couldn't be bothered to go back and flock all those posts. Must get round to that one day.
By the way, I just logged out of LJ, and there are three posts not locked - I assume you're getting to them, but just in case, they are:

Good luck. :(
