(This is probably going to come out wrong and make me sound really messed up, but we'll go with it.)

Part of why most of us don't understand why someone would do something like that is because we're lucky enough to be in a state of mind where we see other humans for what they are - people with feelings and thoughts. In order to conduct one of these attacks, often times the attacker has to lose sight of their target's humanity before they follow through with the attack, otherwise they'd just talk themselves out of it. (Although there are some cases where the person does the thing, heavily regrets it, and then does something to sabotage themselves, usually suicide, although there are some cases where the killer kills themselves for a different reason and ahhh it's just complicated.) While these kinds of attacks are indeed very dastardly actions, it doesn't take as twisted of a mindset as people think, let alone pure evil - we're all pretty much human, and everything we do is for a reason (which is why characters need reasons too. Psychology and fanfic go hand in hand! :D). No one is an entirely good or bad person, and thus morality is purely based on comparison, whether to the average, to another famous figure, or to one's own ideals. When enough people agree that the bad actions outweigh the good, judging based upon deeds and spoken words, they are deemed dangerous and are dealt with as such.

Argh, there's a lot more that I want to say, but that'd make for a really long post, and it's hard to put it into more words. The human brain is a strange contraption, and as we develop as a species, it will continue to get stranger.

My goodness, that's a lovely set-up. I really like how that timeline+stories looks: it's so neat, and everything's right there, and wowawesomeyesgoodhow do I mimic this on the wiki.

So yeah, I'll be going through that. I think I've previously mainly just read chunks of what's linked on the characters' wiki pages, plus a few other things, but...timeline! Fantastic! I really, really like the look of this. And, and I want to make my own. Somehow. So far, my ideas involve a Word document and comments...not as neat, but certainly functional. Probably.

...yeah, I'll keep thinking about that.

Anyway, thanks very much for the link (is this an even better link than the story link? I'd say so, since it leads to even more stories). I'll be sure to take a look through it. And may you have many more people needing it. (Also, seriously, the amount of work put into it shows. It's very nice.)

Ahem. Sorry about that. Anyway: there is a Illian-Sims family timeline on my website, listing every story with Dafydd, Constance, or their children in. It's not perfectly complete - this fic isn't in it, and the latest Hunger Games aren't, but other than that it... actually might have everything.

And it was a lot of work and I was super pleased with it but no-one's ever needed it before and squee. ^_^

I think something like 'The woman - who was not actually a hobbit, despite her tendency to come across as one - brandished said stick'. That's a bit clunky, but I'll work on it.

That's a very fun read, that is. I'm glad I asked. I should, at some point, probably just go find and read every Dafydd-and-Constance story around, since I obviously have not read them all. That would be fun to do.

And yeah. I mean...I like the not looking down line, but if I didn't know a, that Agent hS and Kaitlyn had been on a mission together, and b, anything at all about Kaitlyn's hobbit obsession and about hobbits in general, it would've been confusing. As it was, I had to think for a moment before the disguise reference clicked.

I see what you mean about the looking-down; I'm trying to come up with a way to slip it in without it looking obvious. Probably an expansion to the 'not-actually-hobbit' line in the following paragraph.

As to Constance, it was revealed here that a) her dad's an author, and b) she doesn't like to mention that fact. She's apparently loosened up a bit on it since leaving the PPC, but it's still a bit of a hangup. Precisely why she feels that way, given that he's established to have banned fanfic of his stuff, I'm not certain...

Hetalia makes everything better.)<br><br>    To the psychological part of the Serious News:<br>It's kind of the same stuff behind every other terrorist attack, or really anything destructive in general - for some reason or another, you feel as if the target deserves to suffer, and you feel it strongly enough that you put effort into actually making them suffer beyond bullying or harassing, instead of just fantasizing as teenagers are wont to do (part of why DAVD exists is teens writing fanfic about making their enemies suffer in the most gruesome and painful way possible). I'm guessing the target here was something along the lines of the world itself, otherwise he would have been aiming for infrastructure like the 7/7 you mentioned or important buildings like 9/11 over here. Whether there was any mental disorder under all of this is not clear to me, since he was 22 and studies show that the human brain does not fully develop to adulthood until age 25. He could have just been immature and really, really fed up with life. I'm hesitant about Wormtail, but I think I'm going to say no. I think I'm going to say no to Geordi, I believe G'Kar can come though. As for Seamus, I'm going to go with no.

On another note, that's a hilarious little story. I was smiling pretty much all the way through it. It does help to know the characters, though--I would otherwise have been a little confused by some things like the mention of hS not looking down to Hobbit height. Then again, it's possible the bit about the mushrooms might have cleared that up... It certainly helped to know both the agents and the related canons.

The only thing I can't figure out is why Constance breaks off when talking about her father's books. Is it some really obvious thing that I've missed, or more obscure?

I'm an intern-slash-pack mule at a video/photography studio, so the festival's going to be me shooting B-roll footage for a local news station. I'm mostly looking forward to my boss buying me dinner after work. :P
