And, yes, Marsh (with my "Sentences") is, as far as I'm aware, in pre-printing stuff (getting the cover finalized, one last check for typos, etc etc.), so hopefully you'll have that in a month or two.
And yeah, it's possible you've seen "Hunting Dogs" before - I linked an earlier draft of it in the Discord.
Re food ... well, you generally upload as yourself, and the System is kinda-sorta a big collective dream (insert vigorous handwaving here) so most people have their bodies and expect them to act like bodies usually though. Though, because we're dealing in computers and there's been some attempt to make being uploaded more controllable and more comfortable, you can absolutely do stuff like turn your sense of hunger off or not need to sleep. It's just that most people are rather used to being humans and don't want to mess with too much too consistently.
(I'll also note that I'm not currently planning for the fables collection if that gets funded because I'm low on ideas, but maybe I'll get hit by some inspiration)

It's so exciting to get to see your name in an actual printed book soon! (Actually "books," since you have a story in that anthology that should be coming out soonish, huh?) I can hardly wait! I'm hoping this Kickstarter makes it past that $1500 point as well, so we can get the "fairy tales and fables" anthology, as well!
Did I read an earlier draft of "Hunting Dogs?" It feels familiar, but new, all at the same time. Cute story, either way; it's hard to imagine feeling like there's no purpose in an eternal computer program, but I'm glad Sylvia found something to try, at least! And that it involved doggos! Never thought about it before, but it's funny that folks in Lagrange still eat food, when they don't have stomachs, or burn calories, and the food isn't even made of calories but data, but I guess old habits are hard to break. Man, that really would be the life! No eating, no sleeping, live forever, work on projects forever . . . Post-Self may be where Agent Doc wants to retire to if/when he leaves the PPC! AND I WANT IT TOO

Inspired by a challenge in an art community I was in in the past, I hereby start a new game for PPC writers to get more exposure and feedback on their past and recent works. This game is for Permitted writers only.
Firstly, players need to sign up. There are a limited number of sign-up slots; since this game is still in experimental stages, I'll limit it to 5 players this session.
The players will then be put on an ordered list. The first person on the list will go through the last person's PPC writings and pick out a story to write a review on. The review should be at least 50 words long and can be written as yourself or in-character as your PPC agent or another OC of your creation. After the first person posts a review in the review thread, the second person will review the first's writing, then the chain goes on until the end of the list.
Optionally, each player can attach to their review a recommendation for writings from an inactive PPC-er, or any writer not in the game.
And without further ado, here's the list. Let's get the sign-up going!

Bonus plug: "Hunting Dogs" by

This here's a one-off Post-Self thing I wrote a while back (and cleaned up for posting much more recently) featuring the Scouts. People have liked it, it shouldn't need much canon context (at least in that no one from canon appears and you won't need to be deeply familiar with setting mechanics) and the main reason it's not canon-canon is a lack of time to get around to that.
So, "Hunting Dogs" wherein a person who's a dog misses the bacon lady, and someone gets sent on a big pointless quest.

So, the Kickstarter for getting Idumea published has just gone up. This is another work set in the Post-Self setting, but it's not part of the main series and doesn't necessarily require a lot of context from the other books.
To broadly summarize, the book as a whole is the story of someone trying to find ways to escape the cycle of suffering that they've been dealing with for a few hundred years now. It's written somewhat like a fairy tale, and ... the narrator is also having An Time, which makes things even more interesting.
And, uh, ... I'm a co-author.
The story behind how that happened is that I was reading some of the earlier drafts and got hit by an idea for how some of my characters could fit into the story ... so I wrote fanfic of a book that wasn't even done yet. This led to being asked if said fanfic could just be added to the book and I said yes, and then some more of my writing got pulled in to help with context, and here I am, plugging a book I wrote a few pages of. (And here's an earlier draft of one of those sections)
So ... this is your cue to get pre-orders in if you want a thing I contributed to!

My summer vacation was punctuated by illness and travel adventures, for what it's worth!
Yeah, Harry is definitely taking stuff out on Lily a bit, but I mean... Dumbledore wasn't directly responsible for Sirius' death in the books and Harry still destroyed his office! When you're angry you don't necessarily strategise your anger. Also see: Hermione's entire arc this year :P
I like your analysis of the prophecy! I won't spoil it, though, because it's going to become relevant in the coming years. But I will say that "A rotten apple quickly infects its neighbor" has been a proverb since 1340.
The couple is technically together but that's not the end of their problems, given that sixth year is about to happen. But the point is that regardless of how ready Harry is, he has to act quickly if he wants to be with Draco, because the current political climate has raised the stakes on them being able to be together to start with. This isn't a dynamic that can be replicated with any of the other major Harry pairings (except maybe Tom Riddle/Harry, but I can guarantee you that this Harry does not care for Voldygaunt at all), and thus was chosen on purpose to underscore some of the series' themes.
You'll see in the first few chapters of sixth year what happens to Draco's family, plus what happens to Harry at the Dursleys!
Once again, thank you so much for reviewing each chapter. I always look forward to your analysis!

Two main periods of activity: 2004-2007 and 2009-2012, roughly. Mentioning it only as a reminder that Board archives before mid 2008 are sketchy at best, so shouldn't be relied upon as the sole source for what did or didn't happen then. {= )

Congratulations on becoming a scientist and soon-to-be PhD! That's a wonderful achievement. May I ask what field you plan to go into?
I must say, I hope you'll find we're a little nicer than we were back in the early days, haha. That said, I have always believed we're a positive influence on our members, and it's always great to see that belief borne out. ^_^
Since you remember Tungsten Monk, I would guess you'd remember me, too! I don't know if that helps at all, though, since I've been around practically forever at this point. {; P Still, if you weren't too much of a lurker, I might be able to place you if you recall any more details from your time here?

Yukinbo is the name of an actual yÅkai type, of course. There are several snow/ice yÅkai types and variations thereof, but my rendition is a rather "inspired by" one rather than an accurate reproduction of the mythical creatures.
Arare (é°) means snow pellet or graupel. Asagi (ęµ č±) is a shade of cyan, while usu (č) means pale; usuasagi thus means a light shade of cyan. The title of this entry is a reference to this Grimm tale; the title of the previous entry, Mirror Flower, Water Snow, is a reference to the idiom "mirror flower, water moon" (é”č±ę°“ę, desirable things that are just illusions and not real)

Thanks; I'm aiming to portray Arare as an anti-villain of some sort (nm) by

Oh, wow, I had heard of yuki-onna before, but never yukinbo, so I wasnāt expecting Arare to be such a creature! I always love it when characters who are āvillainsā join the PPC (without threatening the PPC itself), and Iām looking forward to watching Arare try to further his goalsāand, perhaps, to the four demonly kings trying to thwart him?āwhile also having to complete badfic missions. Iām loving his caustic personality, and I like the idea that his species is being weakened by humans losing their belief in spirits. It makes his goal simultaneously pitiable, since his culture is dwindling, and reprehensible, since his culture is full of monsters who want to scare people. Itās going to make for some interesting conflict, going forward!

I can find results for Tungsten Monk on the Board from 2008 to 2012. Looking over some posts from 2012 to 2014, I can see quite a lot of names, some of which I recognize (some of those being still around, even) and many of which I don't. Did you ever get Permission? Maybe one of the oldbies might know you.

Its honestly just so comforting to know that PPC stuff is literally the same as it was back when I was a kid. Helps give a little bit of perspective in these days of a 24/7 news cycle and the worries of real life, that ultimately people are still the same as they always were.
I think I can credit a lot of who I am today to the PPC, ultimately. I wasn't doing very well in school back then (today I am a scientist and a PhD-in-training :P,) and getting home and turning on my mom's old Pentium and just reading the funny stories people would post was a source of escapism for me.
And I think in general, internet fanfiction has influenced a lot of the values I hold today, strange as that is to say. I grew up in a third-world country, and if I had instead taken things osmotically from the people around me, I could have ended up a very different person with very different beliefs.
- I have a LOT of reading to do if I wanna catch up haha.
