The sun goes dark by

The sun goes dark.
The world is knocked askew.
The earth shakes. Bridges tumble into the sea. Prophets proclaim the end of days.
Beasts flee an unexpected night. The calls of birds fill the air. Ancient runes stir to their purpose, uncomprehending.
The sun goes dark.
The people rejoice.
Now, we are freed from those accursed rays. Now, we have escaped the heat. Now, we are bathed in moonlight. Now, the world might yet be saved.
The sun goes light.
The birds and beasts stir from a flicker of sleep.
The runes fall quiet.
The people disperse. Nothing has changed. Nothing was gained but memory. Nothing but joy and wonder, and the hope that the sun might yet grow dark again.
The world comes back into alignment.
The sen goes light.

Interesting ideas. by

I could get behind a department that handles awful creepypastas and failed horror fics, and as far as I can tell, that's not a thing right now.. It seems like something that definitely could exist, and like it would have a clear delineation from other departments' tasks. As for its head, were you thinking of a Rafflesia, or, say, an Amorphophallus titanum? Either way, the idea of a Flower that produces an odor like that is a great one and has serious comedy potential. Also, fun fact, "Amorphophallus titanum" means, roughly, "misshapen giant phallus". I imagine any Flower unlucky enough to be stuck with that name would be rather embarrassed by it. I don't know about the proposed department name, though; "Horrible Horror" isn't bad, but I do think something that means the opposite of "horror" might be better. Might I suggest Unfrightening Horror or something similar?
Of course, I would only attempt to add this to canon if I were to have a good idea for agents and badfics to include in it, and crappypastas just aren't really my thing.
As for a Department of Important Adaptations... I would just say that I don't think that's at all necessary. With the exception of the Department of Out of Character Hobbits, we don't really do single-canon Departments, and when there are single-canon Divisions, they're mostly because of how much badfic there is in that particular canon. Departments are usually more for genre than individual canon. I'm also not sure what "adaptations" have to do with this; that's... not the same as badfic, is it? I'm honestly not quite sure what that would entail, or if the adaptations you're referring to would be published continua of their own, which would not be missionable. The proposed name also strikes me as rather pretentious; why exactly are these particular adaptations in these particular continua important?

Ooh, that's something I didn't necessarily think of with the mace. I really like the idea that an object only needs to be canonical, rather than be a physical representation of the canon itself.
Anyway, since you're willing, Fox and I could fit in a cameo for Gall. It would be a fun plotbunny to include in the mission, and we most certainly would appreciate a beta offer, especially from you. We'd be honored to include her.

The reason there's both an Improbabilities and a WhatThe is that I was too eager to start a new department rather than thinking about which old ones I could revive. Improbabilities would have been perfect for the original WhatThe missions.
Oops.

I really should read more DTE missions, so as to reduce the shame on me. scuttles off to Mara's wiki page
That said, I do think it's reasonable to have separate departments for cultural problems and SPaG errors. Maybe they've been split off at some point in the last eleven years (the most recent DTE mission is from 2013, sadly)!
As far as I can tell from the wiki page, the Department of Improbabilities covers stuff that's weird but not as flat-out facepalm-inducing as WhatThe, maybe the like of strange crack ships that technically could occur but likely wouldn't, as opposed to (for example) randomly shipping characters from different universe while changing their personalities entirely. I dunno, really, if that's much of a difference, but I guess it's something. Could be kinda funny to reference how improbable it is that they're both in existence in a mission.

The department of Hilarious horror and Abhorrent adaptations, led by the corpse flower and… some Japanese native flower that also happens to live in America. Dealing with horror fanfiction that isn’t actually scary (expect a lot of creepy pastas) and attempts at adapting, super sentai and Masked rider (auto collect, won’t let me do the Japanese name for it) So, what do you guys think?

"You have my mace!" --Agent Gall by

TBH I think a DVD/Blu-ray box would work fine—it's the concentration of canon doing the work as a "holy" object, not the physical mass. It's just more satisfying to smack a possessed character with something more solid. {= )
But Gall (who is from there) would definitely lend your agents her canonical-enough mace or even herself and Fellrazer if they asked. She will be offended she wasn't given the mission in the first place, and she might try to coerce some kind of payment out of the agents for her services, but leaning on the fact that it's her home will sway her.
And I'm happy to look over the mission for you if you want to borrow her, too!

But only in the presence of masses of them and/or larger canon-breaking offenses. And if you (general) haven't read any DTE missions yet, shame on you! {; P
And there's the Department of Improbabilities, too. No one ever got a handle on exactly what they do; IIRC it was WhatThe before there was WhatThe?
~Neshomeh, still not on PC.

Was to have one of my Agents play the movie on her wristphone (basically a standalone smartwatch before they were a thing, since the character was from a Ten Years Hence story written several years ago) and slap the exorcism target on the head with it.

Sadly, I didn't really have the time to go into the formatting guide and find what I needed - I was on mobile and in a rush. I do have the html version memorized, from, well, years on the Old Board where markdown wasn't an option, but I haven't had to use it in a while, so it wasn't coming to me right away anymore. So pasting in the link it was. As a co-worker said to me today (paraphrased), you can always go old school! That's an option! :P

So like, I could definitely see Elves from Lindon (or even the Teleri) eating raw seafood wrapped with seaweed. It wouldn't be called sushi or sashimi ofc, but the concept could exist.
