Welcome, fans of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum and supporters of the Canon Protection Initiative! If you've got a story to plug, an opinion to share, or a discussion you want to join in, this is the place!
If you're looking for PPC stories to read, why not start with The Original Series – the missions of the famous assassins Jay and Acacia, the very first stories in PPC history. Once you've finished them, check out the list of Killed Badfic to find a mission you like the look of, or The Complete List of PPC Fiction to look up specific agents or departments.
Before you join the fun, there are some important links you should know about. Being familiar with these will save you a lot of hassle!
This list is also available as a Atom/RSS feed

Not every Russian person on the real planet is engaging in invasion of Ukraine, let alone every Russian character in the fictional multiverse. Putin and his government being bad doesn’t preclude us from acknowledging that Russian people and culture exist. Just don’t write a Russian character who also advocates for colonialism or conquest.

Hi, I'm Sara, and I've recently been writing an unhealthy amount of fiction for fun. I'd like to improve at it, but I don't know any writers that can give me feedback besides "its good, I guess."
I was complaining about this on Discord when a friend told me about this community. I'm not that familiar with the PPC stuff but I've had a look through the rules and wiki (there's a LOT to read) and it seems interesting.
I've been instructed to ask for a Discord link here, so, uh, Discord link please.
I plan to write a new character who's part-Russian, but considering the current social climate, would this be in bad taste?
Oh, I see Umbridge is living in the same corridor as last year’s villain, what a cOiNcIdEnCe
Yeah, this chapter was a difficult read, even for a cisgender dude. It echoes real life sexism and transphobia a little too strongly, especially with the UK DoE going full Umbridge themselves . . . I just feel so bad for all that Luna is going through here. Up until now, I thought Astoria’s main redeeming quality was her acceptance of Luna, but now I see that she’s not nearly as supportive as I had imagined. Astoria still expects adherence to the rules, and it doesn’t feel to me like she really accepts Luna as a “real” girl unless she switches to the “right kind” of potion. And I definitely caught Marietta switching to “they/them” for Luna, as though we needed more reason to dislike Marietta for railroading Qiu’s interactions! And despite Umbridge wanting students to use the bathroom that matches their biological sex, her bathroom ward functions in such a way that it’s severely limiting where Lily Moon can relieve herself, even though being intersex is a completely natural way to be born; Moon should have access to ALL the bathrooms, logically speaking! And over on the sexism front, Umbridge is so very concerned about girls getting hurt playing sports, that she wants to put those girls in boxes so they never get any stronger or resilient against injuries, genius strategy. Seriously, coed sports is one of the things Rowling got right. Umbridge is so far below the bar here, she’s tunneling underground and making a wrong turn at Albuquerque! Say, has anyone told Madame Maxime about how women are so soft and fragile and defenseless? I think she might have some thoughts to contribute to that discussion.
It's interesting comparing Avalon!Harry to his canon counterpart at this point in the year. Canon!Harry was getting the blood quill torture, and understandably hated Umbridge, but he was taking the pain and not trying to show her that he was hurting. But in Avalon, Harry’s friends are the ones being tortured, and he’s ready to bust into her office and throw hands! It’s very Harry, and it must be said, very Gryffindor as well! (Angelina needs to get her priorities straightened, though!)
What a MARVELOUS Tongue-Tying Curse! I do hope Professor Babbling reflects this masterwork in Draco’s grade for the year . . . I love that once Umbridge realized how the curse was forcing her to talk about Luna, she was so desperate not to reference Luna’s chosen identity that all she could do was blurt out Luna’s surname. Bigots are pathetic, and it’s amusing! I also love that the literal second she leaves the hallway, Bonnefoy is like, “Hey kids let’s do the thing she told us not to!” There’s an example of an adult who didn’t grow up too much!
“The Frog Choir can’t be as important as the Gryffindor Quidditch team!”
I’m sorry, Ron, but band kids are cooler than jocks! It’s stated very clearly in the dialogue from High School Musical, I don’t make the rules! And the band kids at Hogwarts are even cooler, because they’re also animal caretakers! Whatcha gonna do? Frog Choir is cooler than Quidditch!
New word you taught me: “frog march”
—doctorlit tried very hard to keep this post limited to commentary on the actual chapter, and not a broad tirade against bigotry
-f the monster of the week.
And this would be helpful with kaiju?
--Ls
They get their own zord that cannot only make a solo megazord but combine with the main one, and a common trope in badfic that I usually have not enough mental energy to put on the list of unclaimed badfic is that there is another Ranger added to the team that of course is an OC. (And if my explanation doesn’t really help, you can find practically every season on YouTube by just by looking it up, try out now if you don’t believe me. I’d start with RPM.)
Getting the help on a mission via a 6th (or 7th, Given how that sue trait is as common as it is practically impossible to get right) ranger agent could definitely be some help for Godzilla and other kaiju badfic, I can’t be the only one who’s realize this but can’t do it for various reasons.
With noodles.
Hey y’all! Today marks the one year anniversary of me joining the PPC!
I’ve been mainly on the discord (which I joined on the 28th), but the board has been a great place as well!
I’m so happy to have been introduced to this community by my friend, I’ve met and interacted with so many great people here.
I know sometimes I was a bit… much lol, but y’all stuck with me :]
Y’all are amazing, this community has been a shining light in my rough life currently, I appreciate what this community has done to me. Despite not doing much PPC stuff yet (I’m just way too busy sadly lol), I’m still welcomed and I appreciate that a lot :>
Cheers to more years to come! Love y’all <3

Dunno about a Sue Tracker, since slapping one of those on a character with canonical powers who isn't actually prone to Suvian tendencies would be gross. There are plenty of different magical power limiters out there in the multiverse, though. Does binding with iron work on this kind of fae?
That said, is there some reason this character has to be forced not to use his glamour in the first place? I'm not familiar with this continuum, so if it's a passive ability never mind, but assuming he can control it, maybe just... have him choose to control it? Because free will is good.
Also because, IMO, if some foolish agents recruited a character who would choose to go around mind-controling people willy-nilly, that's a story: the recruiting agents have to deal with the problem they unleashed and the recruit has to learn a better way to deal with people if he wants to avoid being bound with iron (or whatever). They should all feel free to consult with FicPsych during and after the event. {= D
~Neshomeh
(ETA: missing word.)
(ETA 2: Does the glamour only work on humans? Because in that case it will be really funny when he tries it on one of the many agents who look human but aren't. Stick him with a non-human partner for best mileage. ^_^ )
I know I'm late to the party, but I've had a stressful time with school stuff. Feel free to do whatever you want!
Some basic description for those who care: 5'8" (172 cm), cis man, skinny, wavy brown hair. I've been playing a lot of Zelda games lately and taking anatomy classes. I think that about covers it.
That would definitely be something the PPC could do. I'm not sure they would necessarily always do that (I think Damian has an agent with a similar power?), but I would suggest giving your recruit a Sue Tracker. I think that would cover the power limiting.
I can't wait to read the next mission!
--Ls isn't quite sure if he's read that book series, but it seems familiar.
As those of you in the Discord may know, I have a new rescued recruit for the PPC. However, I have a problem that was caused by me misremembering what a cultural implant was. This new recruit is a faerie from Holly Blacks’ ‘Folk of the Air’ series therefore he has the ability to glamour humans. Obviously, this would be an issue in the PPC (we don’t need a bunch of mind controlled homicidal maniacs running around) so would it be possible for him to receive some sort of implant that makes sure he can’t use glamour? Or can only use glamour in his home continuum?
That... wasn't very clear, given how sadly unused the Unclaimed Badfic list is as of late, but glad we've figured this out.

Sorry I missed the connection!

As you can see from its wiki page.

Edit: Did you mean this fic? Because you don't need to go on the Board to claim it; just edit the Claimed and Unclaimed Badfic pages.
