I actually have a PR mostly written up, and would like a few betas to take a look at it. I've noticed that you weren't on the Discord server anymore, though?

Typical Sue by

Sounds like standard Mary Sue stuff with the speshul eyes and the fact that they're trying to make her as cute as possible but then at the same time they tried to make her seem cool by adding things like the anger thing and the military uniform.
What I think won the prize for "so bad, it's good" was all the inconsistencies. Like first the Sue is logical, but then she gets really intimidating when angry. Then it said she doesn't eat much, but then later it said she often ate snacks!

Getting the obligatory shoutout out of the way to Alex Fierro of the Magnus Chase series. While not a perfect representation, she was the first instance of a genderfluid character I saw while questioning my own gender, and she was a huge help in getting my parents to understand me—so she'll always have a special place in my heart.
I'd also like to point at Asra Alnazar, magician extraordinaire of the mobile visual novel The Arcana. There's a growing rise in nonbinary representation in fiction, but along with them, well—it seems the only pronouns used are they/them, which while excellent, also leaves out those of us who are comfortable being called by gendered pronouns, let alone our assigned pronouns at birth. The language used with Asra is subtle, but what really stood out to me is the way his parents refer to him exclusively as "my child" rather than "my son". It's such a small detail, but such an important one, and I love the VN all the more for it.
(That, and just about everyone in said VN is explicitly bisexual, and it's not just in the sense that the romanceable characters are 'playersexual'; their different storylines sees the non-romanced characters experiencing their own stories in the background and forming relationships with each other.)
Right now, the big one that made me have to put the book down and cry for how well done it was, was Avatar Kyoshi (and Rangi!) from the Kyoshi novels. Set 300 years before Aang's time, Kyoshi is implicitly bisexual (having crushes on male characters, but the text doesn't clarify where under the bi umbrella she falls since it isn't relevant) and falls in love with the female Fire Nation soldier Rangi. The two of them don't suffer the ambiguous ending get-together that Korra and Asami were given; their romance blooms relatively early in the first book, it's believable, it's wholesome, both characters are so fleshed out and rounded—and they don't just ignore the inherent issues their society will have with the relationship.
While yes, it is very comforting to read about worlds where homophobia (and transphobia) don't exist, it's also very comforting to read about characters similar to ourselves. It's like sinking into an embrace with the characters there to reassure you that you are not alone.

The main point of the prompts is to make sure that prospective PPC writers can, well, write for the PPC setting. As long as it combines the two prompts (preferably in a way that it doesn't feel like two stories mashed together, I would say), I think it's a fine idea.
I mean, the main reason for the prompts was because people said they didn't know where to start with the writing part of the Permission process; if two prompts sparked off an idea, I'd be very interested to see the result.

Progress has been slow with the Girl in the Tower mission, and I have to renew the claim.
I'm also trying to set up a small arc for Éowine and wish to imply that he is getting a tad conceited, but I have never been good at subtlety. What are some tips?

Yeah, I definitely mean logs presented as stories, not logs presented as logs. by

If you take an RP log, do little or nothing to it, call it a story anyway, and slap it up on a fanfiction site for all and sundry to judge as such, that's what I mean. Not, e.g., these. {= )
Also possibly stories written as stories based on the events of RPs, but then there's no reason to treat them separately from any other story—except maybe to be on the alert for the increased likelihood that every single OC and possibly the canon characters are flaming Sues. Look, I'm very fond of my old RP buddies, the good times we had, and the stories we wrote about them, but man oh man, I tell ya, the stories were not good. {X' D And, I mean, maybe there's some room for leniency in those cases given that insane things happen because multiple people had a hand in them and there's some
mobimprov mentality involved, rather than one person actually thinking it made sense? I dunno. Could be interesting.~Neshomeh

Anime is bigger than it used to be. Your Name got a cinematic release a few years back and that was a huge deal. And twitter did explode over Demon Slayer...
The point is, it's not as niche as it used to be.
The question, of course, is whether it will be actually be a good adaptation.

If it's been cleaned up for publication that's one thing, but a proper RP, like, out of a log, is usually really more for the benefit of the people playing than the people reading. It's a weird thing to critique because, well... we've been invited, but we're not exactly the audience, per se.

... but only if everyone talks like robots. Flowers. Agents. Canons. Suvians. They're all robots now.
In fact they're specifically all Separatist Battle Droids in bad costumes. Let's see now, for my main rabble:
Dafydd is a Firefighter Battle Droid. He doesn't fight many fires.
Constance is a BX-series droid commando.
Selene is a Vulture droid starfighter. Sure, she's a lot bigger than her partner; what of it?
Kaitlyn is a C-8 saboteur droid. She's sneaky. She'd be sneakier if she didn't have a brightly-coloured waistcoat painted on.
The Bonsai Mallorn is a T-series tactical droid. With a branch on its head.
Yep, I'm sold on this. Obviously Grievous himself plays the SO (he's a huge fan of the PPC; in fact he's the driving force behind this whole thing), with most of the other Flowers being either Tactical or Super Tactical droids. Agents get to be anything up to and including 10-meter long tanks.
All Suvians, Wraiths etc are played by baseline B1 battle droids. In wigs. They are very bad at it. But that's okay, because they get killed off in job lots on every mission.

PS: Legolas - Boromir - Gandalf - Gimli - Aragorn - Sam - Pippin - Frodo - Merry

So Helm Hammerhand, Lord of the Mark and King of Rohan, is probably one of the most fleshed-out stories to pull out of the Appendices and film. In brief, he starts a feud by killing one of his distant relatives, whose son Wulf attacks and effectively conquers Rohan. Helm is driven to Helm's Deep - hence the name - and has to hold it through the Long Winter. After he freezes to death on his last watch, his nephew (since his sons are dead) rides out and retakes Rohan, killing Wulf and founding the Second Line of Rohan.
So it can certainly make for a good film, but also... whaaaat? I'll be impressed if they can get "theatrical released adult-oriented anime" to be a big hit, even with the LotR name attached, but even besides that it's an... unusual creative choice.
They've also mentioned that it's in-continuity with the Jackson films. Either that means 'you will recognise Edoras and the Hornburg'... or it means 'Wulf is backed by Saruman and has an army of Uruk-hai and Legolas shows up with a bunch of Elves from [rolls dice] Rivendell and there's Hobbits wandering through Rohan and who is this grey-cloaked stranger?! PS Rhosgobel rabbits!!'.
Apparently it's 'on the fast-track', so I guess we'll find out relatively soon. Any chance they're aiming for the 20th anniversary of Fellowship in December...?

I was thinking about a dating si...err, interactive fiction-style story where there is a defined ending, but certain elements change according to the player's choices(reactions from characters, Department recommendations, PPC equipment malfunctioning, etc).

As far as I can tell, Cassie (who runs the mini-Balrog adoption agency) is inactive or lurking. I will leave that be. However, I have found multiple mini-Balrogs, as well as some mini-Tribbles. Here is a list of the ones I have found so far. If you like the names, please feel free to take them. I have researched the names, and these mini-Balrogs and mini-Tribbles are undocumented and unadopted as far as I can tell. If you discover otherwise, please tell me.
mini-Balrogs: Ellesar, Tellcontar, Franduil Mithrandar
mini-Tribbles: worf Diana Dianna

Direct critiques of RPs, that is. The closest to it might be the "Valcentica" report? But that's all I can think of. In addition to other, much more important concerns, it's impractical to spork an active role-play. Also I think the word for that is "trolling." {= P
Fics based on RPs that haven't been edited into functional stories would be another matter, though...
