I've always worked on the assumption that... by

... a continuum/Word World/canon/whatever you want to call it functions like World One, and the canon stories etc are basically records of history, so the events of canon are things that have already happened - fics and sporkings therefore are sort of like 'going back in time' to a certain place in the fic, so yes, everyone technically has free will but we know how events are going to unfold because we're in the position of people from the future, as it were.
Hope that helps! And just because that's how I see it doesn't necessarily mean that's how it is :)

Some of the stuff that's been popping up the last few days has made me make the O_o face.
I'm afraid I don't know much about how to make the Wiki a bit more under our control but it might be an idea to put a BIG FONT 'Newbies go [link to the board] HERE FIRST' kind of thing on the front page? Or is that a bit unsubtle?
I have a horrible sneaking suspicion that there isn't a way to make the wiki editable by only vetted accounts unless we manually lock every page and then give every account some level of mod access or something.
But if there is a way we should totally look into it.

Wiki concerns. by

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I'm getting more and more concerned that just anybody can walk up to our Wiki and do (almost) anything to it, especially since it seems to be one of the first things newcomers find these days. Is there some way to set it up so that mods/admins/whatever can vet new accounts before they can make edits? I'd be willing to do it; we don't usually get so many people signing up at once that it would be a bother.
This would also necessitate setting it up so that people have to log in to make edits, but I think everyone should do that anyway. {= p
I don't want to scare anyone off; quite the opposite: I want them to find their way here and become part of the community more easily, as opposed to wandering around the Wiki in confusion until one of us spots them and points them in the right direction. Especially if they're keen to get involved.
So... July? Other people who understand the more complex Wiki stuff? People with opinions on the matter?

You know, I have a finished mission and the beginning of another mission, but I can't post anything because my crazy mother blocked most of my sites (This is a school computer I'm using). Hopefully she'll let me have them back soon. I got two new agents I want to show off!

Asking questions 2: THE SEQUEL by

Okay. I've got some more questions, this time mostly in-universe ones.
How exactly does a continuum function? Does it...
a. Just play back the canon over and over unless some outside force (i.e a badfic) messes with it?
b. Behave like World One in the sense that (almost!) everyone has free will?
c. Act like some combination of the two above?
d. Not work like that at all, and I need to be refreshed on how the laws of anti-physics work?
There's more questions, but I don't have the time to type them right now. I'll put them up when I'm able to.

First time on the boards, yes. I once had Permission and actually started writing my own chapter of PPC, but quickly realized my writing was worse than most of the badfic. >.

I'm scared to even look at my NaNo effort. I'm sure there are kernels of good story in there, but there's so much dreck to wade through to find them. O.o;
At least this time the goal doesn't involve a word-count...?

Greetings! I don't remember your pen-name, so either you have a new one, you were around before I joined (which was sometime in 2003), or this is your first time on the Board at all. Either way, we're glad you made your way here. {= )
You may wish to relive the days of yore by paying a visit to the PPC Lost Tales archive, which is the only place you'll find some of the stories written contemporarily with the Original Series since GeoCities deep-sixed itself. It is still under construction in places, but everything should be readable. Please let me know if you spot any typos, broken links, formatting issues, etc. Also please let me know if you want to contribute content or time to the site in any way.
Welcome (back)!

Hey everyone! I am new, I guess, sort of a little. :D
I remember all this from way way back and recently started re-reading everything PPC related that I could get my paws on* once I stumbled upon a link from TvTropes (that site is like crack). So hello everyone again and I hope this posts correctly because this board looks so simple to use I'm sure I've done something wrong.

Sporking does refer to MSTing around here; it's just that it can also refer to a mission, a report on GAFF or Deleterious, or really anything that takes badfic down a peg. So, now you know. Carry on. {= )

Erm, yeah. Sorry, I've just heard/seen it referred to as "sporking" more often, which is kind of odd, I suppose.
