This here sue, among other things, found a guitar which supposedly belonged to his mother and used it to "write" songs that the author likes, and also caused Harry Potter to get an eyebrow piercing.
On an unrelated topic, I have discovered that if it weren't for the thing that says "don't check this box if everybody has it" then every single Pooka in Old World of Darkness would score at least 28 on the Universal Mary Sue Litmus Test.

Admittedly that's because I'm as blind as a bat without them, making removing them to look at something an exercise in futility.
It does make it interesting to go places when my glasses have been lost though. Walking into lampposts because you forgot they were there and can't see them is always fun.

Yeah, we are pretty much safe in that regard, but the safety is maintained by the secret ballot. We don't have much politically based violence, because we've no way of distinguishing between Us and Them and so working out who to attack.
Example: say you vote for the BNP. And then say you're applying for a job, and the bloke interviewing you is a hardcore Green Party member. If he can look you up afterwards and find out where your political allegiances lie, he's likely to find spurious reasons not to give you the job.

And that would be because you live somewhere reasonably safe, where the worst that can happen to you personally based on your vote is having arguments about it. Some places, some times, you or your family could be ostracised, you could lose your job, be attacked or even killed simply based on how you voted. If you know that's the case it takes a lot of guts to vote how you want to rather than voting for the party that won't get your kneecaps smashed. In the interests of not intimidating voters, we therefore have secret ballots.

but then again, I don't see the point in a lot of things. After all, the phrase "If voting could change things, it would be illegal" exists for a reason.

Crap. Now I remember what I forgot to do. I was intending to quote Mass Effect. They have a BNP-like party called Terra Firma which is very pro-human. Even the xenophobe in your party is pissed with them for being racist, saying that (I believe, hence why I wanted to check), while there aims are good, they should do something, anything to weed out the extremists in the party. If the BNP did that, then they'd be fine, as would UKIP, Labour, Conservatives, Lib Dem etc etc etc etc. It's not ideas that are at fault (... most of the time), it's the people that carry them out. Communism is pratically the perfect system. Humans, on the other hand, screwed it up enormously. Dictatorship is pratically the perfect system. Humans, on the other hand, screwed it up enormously. Democracy is pratically the perfect system. Humans, on the other hand, screwed it up enormously. I've come to the not-so-thrilling conclusion that humans suck.

Actually, I was intending not to name names. Easier that way.
How exactly a bunch of racist nutters would help a bit I'm not sure. My scepticism is based in large part on the fact that the party seems determined to lay every problem the country has at the feet of non-white citizens, and assumes forced repatriation will sort everything out and bring back to glorious days of Empire. I'd rather have a government that's slightly more grounded in reality.

My favourite fic is usually what I read last, same as favourite game, favourite book, favourite film, favourite music. I usually have some form of Top Ten (Thousand), but it's usually what I've read last.
Disturbingly, that makes my favourite fic Agony in Pink.

I write het almost exclusively... by

because, while I do have some gay relationships in my stories, I don't think I have just them. I have het as the main thing because, obviously, that's what happens in real life and if I'm trying to keep my characters real, I'm not going to have them all turn gay in an instant. I have played with a few small fics set around a gay character, but those never amount to anything.
I'm also more comfortable with femslash. Don't know why. Could be I've read more bad slash than bad femslash. All I know is that the majority of my gay/bisexual characters are women and there's only one male/male relationship I can think of and I can't actually remember what fic that was in.
Honestly, though, I don't give a toss. I'll read good stories, regardless of what the hell is happening in it. The reason I stay away from slash a bit is possibly due to seeing more bad fics attempt to pair off two random characters who hate each other and do it appallingly. I'd type more, but I keep thinking of something else to add mid-paragraph and that makes me forget what I was saying to begin with.

It sucks and on top of that you have to wear stupid glasses that rarely fit. I'll be content with 2-D until they invent holograms. The only exception would be if, oh, I don't know, they made a Star Wars/Trek/Gate film in 3-D. Then I'd probably go and see it.

I said that the BNP had good ideas but were taking them to extremes. Hitler had good ideas, but I'm not going to vote for him because he's a racist nutjob. Also, dead.
... or was I the UKIP guy and someone else was BNP? UKIP has problems too, but as with the BNP, I believe that they'd help a bit. Of course, next election, I'll be prepared with broadband of my own and can do more research on everyone.
Also, "I'll spare you the detailed ramble about why a European Parliament, if done properly, is an immensely excellent thing". The problem is highlighted.

The common link here: Uncanon family members.
The solution: Learn to freaking write a decent story about them and we won't KILL YOU! Why do you think I cancelled my Harry's twin story? And that was when I was still a Suethor. Even I could recognise it was awful.

Specifically, the time it takes to write these things. I've spent a couple of years on Crashing Down, which is now a chapter or so away from completion. Origins is next on the list, so Lofty Skies is a long way from being anything other than Nyx's poem.
If you're feeling particularly desparate, the original, short and out-of-date (but mostly accurate nevertheless) version of Origins can be found on my other website.
