"Oh, little goose! You are not so scary a goose! I have been chased around by much the scarier gooses! The Magnum and the Andy and the Steve-o! But you are a good goose!" doctorlit reaches out and scritches the goose's belly.

It would like to steal that shiny bookmark, and has decided to try intimidation first.

I admit, getting to the length goal might be hard (not sure how far a prompt can carry one and I'm not sure how long a short story or chapter usually is - my instincts say somewhere around 12,500-15,000 on the shorter end, but I might be underestimating), but I've honestly been looking to get back into writing after NaNo... uh... happened, and this seems like a good way to do it, and, if my brain decides to react well to the prompt, it'll be nice to have a chance to actually complete the project offered. :P

All Write: Long-Form Edition? by

We did several writing challenges on the Discord this last fall, and had quite a bit of fun - but one thing that's come up is that there are people who don't really work well under the pressure of a half-hour time limit. As such, I'm wondering if people would be interested in a longer-running writing challenge? Say, a week long (or perhaps more), with the goal being writing something chapter or short-story-length?

She's currently covered in sawdust and has managed to cut a finger open on her unsanded armor. She's cursing and trying to keep from getting sawdust in her cut.
Really, the only thing that could make this day worse is if a goose showed up.

(Although he has been expecting a bite, rather than a thieving.)
doctorlit shrinks back and wraps his arms protectively around all three books. "No, no, little friendle," he says, nose to beak with the goose, "even good birb friends don't get to touch the Precious!"

Being a goose, though, it likes doc's gentle scratching, and decides not to be too horrible this time.
And so, after a while, it lunges forward to make a grab for doc's bookmark.

It does not, in fact, know Agent Morty. Or maybe it does and doesn't want to admit it so as not to betray the existence of the secret goose cabal that rules the universe. It's hard to tell, with a goose.
It then darts its head forward, making a grab for the writing implement Neshomeh almost certainly has on her somewhere.

She resigns herself to the presence of the goose and then tries to get around it to drink her tea. It'll get cold if she leaves it for too much longer, which she'd hate.

Thank you, really, but... I don't think I would be a good fit. When things get heated in the Discord, I tend to mute the channel and walk away. That's not what I would want from a mod. We'll find someone good for the role, though!

First off, I've apparently been nominated. Wow. Okay. I mean... I could do the job, I'm more surprised that anyone considers me a mature and responsible member of the community. But if I do become a mod, I'll do my best to uphold that trust.
With that out of the way, I have my own nomination—Helsinki. Hel (who you may have previously known as Maxwell) is approachable, even-handed, and consistently keeps a cool head. They'll say what needs to be said and proposes rational solutions to problems that arise. They're frequently online and very accessible. I think they would make an excellent mod.

I nominate GMA/Geema/GoodModAddict as he seems to fulfill the requirements set out in the above post.
1) I see him frequently active in #badfic at least, and in VOIP, meaning that he's available. (though I don't usually participate directly with him or anyone in the latter due to my going to bed early most nights) 2) Visible: [Insert LIZARD SECKS joke here]...ahem. Aside from the memes, I'd say he's well known for digging up and through horrendous badfic and generally can be seen as being present in the chat. We all know who GMA is. I think. 3) Approachable: He qualifies for sure, although it's hard for me to really quantify. I can't speak to any particular instance that shows this, but he's generally come across as forthcoming and friendly? 4) Impartial: I haven't really seen him under pressure/in tense situations much as far as I recall, but he's been willing to look at both sides in the one disagreement I do remember having with him. Guess that speaks to #3. 5) See #4, I guess

... But only for five minutes. Some surprise quests passed faster than others, alright?
But the other Goose would indeed return, and join its fellow in the fountain.
There were, of course, Agents following.
