So, I’m back! I didn’t really leave, I guess, I’ve been peeking in from time to time but not made much noise. I haven’t had much to say. Lots of thinking though! Lots of really thoughtful thinking.

This interlude was a tough one. It kind of fought me every step of the way, but nicely, you know? Like a cat that sheathes its claws when playing, but sometimes gets carried away with the teeth. My fault for going for the belly, obviously.

The interlude borrows heavily from Psychonauts, which is one of my favourite universes of all time. I knew I wanted to make a mental world of one of my characters, and well, there’s one who is in absolute dire need of help... You don’t need to know the universe to understand the story, I’ve tried my best to make it approachable. Amazing game though! Big thumbs up from me, especially for the sequel.

Interlude: Blank’s Frozen Sea (AO3)
In which a mind is explored, the past is expanded, and someone gets to the bottom of this.

NOTE: This story does deal with and depict the death of Zit, Blank’s former partner who she loved a great deal. If that’s not something you wish to engage with, here's the warning. The Psychonauts universe offers a lot of tools to examine trauma and it does so in a bright and colourful way, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t express the darkness of it too.

Thank you as always to Neshomeh, who beta’d and also let me borrow Mirrad for a bit. He was an absolute joy!
