This roughly translates to happy birthday in Latin. That song is awesome. It looks like it would be hard to do though, because of the shifting.

I'm seeing full-on Lindisfarne Gospels/Book of Kells. by

A frontispiece of the Fellowship poster done in medieval style, with J&A as bow-wielding figures flanking it. A full-page incipit like this one of "It's happened again". Elaborate illuminated capitals for scene changes, showing things such as Laurel playing Led Zep on the harp, or J&A playing cards. Speech in red ink to stand out from the black. The author's notes as jotted marginalia. And a full endpiece of the Death of Laurel as a reversed Pietà, with Legolas just looking up in confusion while J&A look sardonically on.
I reckon calligraphy runs to maybe 100 words a page, so it'll only be... well, with the illustrations... 40 pages? A nice quick little project. >:D

You should check it out. It's... kinda a big deal around here, seeing as we built a whole community around it and all. :-P

You are giving me ideas. I do modern art/collage/drawing for fun, so now I'm thinking about doing a modern art illumination of something. Yes, I know that sounds weird.

Two Onmyōji characters as classical violinists in an orchestra. Those are terms that don't belong in the same sentence at all, and the more I look at it, the more the story itself fails to translate the canonical relationship between the characters, ignoring that this AU and Onmyōji work together as well as Kung-Fu Panda and Death Note. To top it all off, I'm kind of dissatisfied with the narrator's voice. My god, how could I commit this utter sacrilege upon one of my fandoms?

I absolutely love Chicago—the book I'm writing is set there, so this would be another good chance to scope the place out, ahaha—and although I don't know where I'm going to end up for work, if I can make it to the Windy City next year you can count on me. :)

But I'm down for hanging out/talking with you awesome folks wherever/whatever context!—doctorlit, feeling weird to take vacations two summers in a row

Now I'm half-tempted to ask him to ink the first page of "Rambling Band" for us, just for the fun of it. And then one of us might have to try our hand at illumination for the full effect. Who doesn't want an excuse to play with gold leaf, right? {= D

Seeing as Phobos and I live here, the biggest limitation for us is work, but if we're planning this far in advance, I'm sure we can arrange time off. {= )
Also, assuming nothing is drastically different next summer, we can possibly even offer accommodations for one to four people if you trust us and we trust you. {= ) We have a day bed with trundle for one to two folks (if they don't mind sharing a room) and a futon sofa for one to two more (if they don't mind sharing a bed). Note that we are up one flight of stairs and will almost certainly have a cat by then. Also, we have only one bathroom.
But that would help some of you with the biggest constraint, which is money. Travel and accommodation are probably going to be your biggest expenses.
If you're not up for staying over at Chez Nesh, I understand there are good hostels in the area, or you could get a less-expensive hotel somewhere in the Greater Chicago Area and take the Metra to and from the Gathering. That's what my dad and I did for the 2006 Chicago Gathering, when I was still more comfortable being accompanied by a parent. ^_~ Once you're in the city, you can get pretty much everywhere by train or bus, and I recommend that over driving by far. Weekend passes are useful and far more reasonably priced than parking in a garage or something. But if you insist on driving, check out SpotHero for some options off the beaten path that may be less expensive.
Fortunately, there are things to do around here that are free, such as the Lincoln Park Zoo, music and plays in Millennium Park, and various festivals. This page lists free and low-cost events for this summer, just to give you an idea.
And, since museums are a Gathering staple, here are some free and low-admission museums to consider. The only one I've actually been to is the Nature Museum, so I'd be up for checking out any of the other ones. 'Course, with a year to save up, the bigger museums are certainly not out of reach. The Museum of Science and Industry, the Field Museum of Natural History, and the Shedd Aquarium are all awesome.
I'd also like to put in a good word for the International Museum of Surgical Science, one of our hidden gems, which is $17 for adults and $13 for students at this time—but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. I just found out we have an American Writers Museum, though! I feel like that might be necessary. And it's only $14 for adults, $9 for students!
There's also just getting together and playing board games and stuff in person for once, too. We have some good ones! {= D

I reccomend No Man's Sky and Terraria by

No Man's Sky is usually $59.99, but it's on sale for $29.99. In my opinion, it's well worth the money. I know that No Man's Sky wasn't the best in 2016 when it came out, but there have been lots of free updates, and the 3D graphics are amazing. It's a fun open-world game where you can do just about anything: space exploration, walking around exploring planets aboveground, in caves, and even under water, fighting space pirates, building bases, doing missions for aliens, digging up ancient ruins, rescuing crashed spaceships and adopting the strange-looking animals you can find on planets. There is a bit of a learning curve, and you will probably end up dying a few times and having to go find your grave so you can get your stuff back, but after that, it is awesome. It's a lot of bang for your buck, and my dad and I usually spend a few hours on evenings and weekends playing multiplayer together.
Terraria is usually $15.00, and it's on sale for $4.99. It's been around since 2012, and there have been some updates. This game is also open-world, with lots of options. Its motto is "Dig, fight, build, explore". The graphics are pixelated and kind of old-fashioned, but that is one of the things I like about Terraria. My dad bought copies for pretty much all our devices, he liked it so much.

Who needs to wait when wild speculation can begin now? by

Here's What We Know about the prospective sequel novel:
-The title '668 - The Neighbour of the Beast' was bandied about. I'm sure I remember Pratchett also suggesting '666 - The Number of the Bus', but can't find where I originally read either.
-It had a bunch of angels in it. We can probably safely assume that the new heaven/hell sequences from the show, and in particular the 'trial', were taken from sequel notes.
-There was a lot more of it than we'd been led to believe. My impression for, um, decades has been that they just sort of bandied ideas about, but Gneil indicates here that not only did they have a full plot, but they discussed it again much later, and Pterry considered it a plot worth filming. This also describes it as 'an entire novel plot'.
For the sequel series, we have this statement from Gneil:
"As Good Omens continues, we will be back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery which starts with one of the angels wandering through a Soho street market with no memory of who they might be, on their way to Aziraphale's bookshop.
(Although our story actually begins about five minutes before anyone had got around to saying “Let there be Light”.)"
And that's all we know.
~
Okay so. The 668 in the possible title suggests that Adam might still be hanging around? Good Omens the novel is very much Adam's story - Crowley and Aziraphale are in it surprisingly little, checking out for huge chunks of the action. The show changed this, but this plot predates it by a long way.
Given that technically the Antichrist has been born and come into his power, and Satan Himself has (briefly!) come to Earth, I'm wondering if the plot will deal with the Second Coming - y'know, the other part of the Book of Revelations. It has a certain symmetry to it: instead of "the Antichrist has gone missing", we'd have "the Son of God has returned, but he's gone wildly off-mission". If the 'trial' sequence from the show was originally the start of the sequel, that would leave A&C officially out of the loop - but a great potential source of officially unaligned interference if any angels needed a helping hand.
I have written this speculation several times now and keep getting tangled in it, so I'm just gonna stop. :)

According to google maps I'm about a five and a half hour drive from Chicago, and iirc from when a hypothetical Chicago Gathering was brought up on the discord a while back there were other PPCers who expressed interest then that have longer drives than I would.
