Sorry for making a fool out of myself. I did believe that I missed the entire reading.

Welcome, fans of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum and supporters of the Canon Protection Initiative! If you've got a story to plug, an opinion to share, or a discussion you want to join in, this is the place!
If you're looking for PPC stories to read, why not start with The Original Series – the missions of the famous assassins Jay and Acacia, the very first stories in PPC history. Once you've finished them, check out the list of Killed Badfic to find a mission you like the look of, or The Complete List of PPC Fiction to look up specific agents or departments.
Before you join the fun, there are some important links you should know about. Being familiar with these will save you a lot of hassle!

Actually, I meant to send it earlier Monday, or even on Sunday, but forgot among doing other things. Zoom allows you to pre-schedule meetings and send out the information so people just have to open it at the right time.
As stated in the email, the reading is still taking place on Tuesday, April 7th, at 10 AM EST, which I believe is 10 PM your time. You're good.
Also, drat, I forgot instructions on how to use Zoom. Will try to send those out tomorrow morning; as a quick summary, it works without an account and in a browser, but certain browsers lack certain capabilities and overall it works much more smoothly with an account (free) and a download (also free, and pretty small).

The email was literally sent out at 1 am and I was already asleep.

Also, with three votes for it, we're going to be reading First Test, the first book in the Protector of the Small series! This is pretty much my favorite set of the many Tortall books, so I'm excited too.
Brief content warning for the first couple chapters if anyone wants/needs it:
Mind you, in general, the entire book deals with bullying and fighting, particularly physical fighting. Kel's training to be a knight, and is in the perfect position to be viewed as an outsider. Presumably, this was all clear from the book description, but I figured I'd be clear just in case, since we've tended to do that here for quite a few years now.

I wasn't in the Discord much, but I check in on the regular Boards often. Glad to see you here!
And if you like Neal Shusterman (just recently finished The Toll myself!), you might like Robert J. Sawyer's WWW Trilogy! More info for them can be found here, though my first book from the trilogy was Watch.
Have a virtual slice of cake!
Oh, hey, cursed jewelry! Seeing as I myself am pretty cursed, I think it qualifies as a normal piece of jewelry. 😂
And yeah, even if you had seen me, it wouldn't have been under this name. I used to have a different account, way back in ye olden days, that I abandoned due to shame. Here's to a fresh start tho! ^-^
Don't worry if you suck at introducing yourself. You should see what I wrote for my introduction. :-)
I'm hoping you have an awesome time here! Here's a random cursed piece of jewellery.
The first thing that any reasonable person does after enjoying a piece of media is, of course, review it. And here I shall do it for the comic Major Grom (note: site has a lot of NSFW ads), published by Bubble.
I'm going to be harsh here: this had quite a number of pitfalls. I shall only touch on characterization in the Plague Doctor arc, because that is a big one. Contains spoilers, so if you want to read it, click the back button now. This is your last warning.
The main character: Igor Grom. The writers put a lot of effort into emphasizing that we are supposed to like him, or at least, root for him. But so far, everyone who has read it has fallen in love with his nemesis, Sergey Razumovsky. Really, just find any fanart of this and most of it will be of Sergey. Who cares if he kills people? Have you seen the way he dresses?
Yes, the villain has more personality than the protagonist.
Igor would be a pretty loveable person in real life, I wouldn't doubt it. But in fiction, it's always the more...eccentric ones that get all the fans. Igor's only personality is cop. That's it. Nothing remarkable, nothing that makes him stick out. It's just a skin anyone can slip on. Think Bella Swan. Like her, he is also stuck in quite a shallow romance arc. If you've seen any interactions between him and his girlfriend, there's a chance of at least one eyeroll. It's like she's only there for the purpose of being his girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Sergey...is a rather nasty piece of work. He aims to purge the upper class of corruption by, of course, murder, makes an obstacle course of death in his mansion, and tests it on homeless people. He gets arrested and imprisoned, and there, the manifestation of his cruelty becomes another personality entirely. Combined with his backstory, this makes for a rather interesting character. We see him at his worst, defeated, hated by almost everybody. Conversely, Igor is only ever successful in his attempts. There's also the matter of Sergey's relationship with his childhood friend, which should be given another post entirely.
In conclusion: The writing backfired, and now I am attached to a problematic character.
Bows, wiping face with tie
Hi. Hello. I am absolutely horrible at introducing myself.
Call me Sparrow or just call me by my forum name, IDC. I'm 22, they/them pronouns, write for another original shared universe project known as Arkn Legacy.
I briefly joined this forum and the Discord server associated with it back in 2016, when I was much younger, much more willing to attack others, much less accepting of criticism, and had a nasty habit of simping for space fascists. I'm happy to say I'm cured of that sort of behavior now, so I thought, why not come back and give this place a chance? Y'all seemed cool back in the day, even if I wasn't cool enough to keep up.
So anyway. Stuff I'm into. I'm super into TES obviously, with Morrowind being my all time favorite. I'm also pretty into Persona, Mass Effect, Homestuck, Neal Shusterman's books, Firefly, and I... was into Doctor Who for a while? Not so much anymore, I've taken kind of a break from that fandom, but I'm interested in rediscovering the magic of it.
As for stuff I'm getting into– I'm slowly making my way through Twin Peaks, Torment: Tides of Numenera, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
I'm all about the lighthearted mockery of bad tropes– it's a good way to know what to steer clear of in my own writing. Idk man. Mostly yaboi is bored in lockdown and needs something to do.

Sorry about that. I think I had it in mind when I started writing that post, and then forgot by the end. Thanks for putting it up again, though.

Thanks.

Should now be sent properly.
Are you sure that you spelt my Gmail correctly, or sent it to someone else? It’s toorandomperson@gmail.com,

(Well, a more visible reminder. Seriously, come on down if you like :) just email me, or leave your email, and I'll send you the link as well.)
That was surprisingly simple to set up--or maybe not so surprising, considering how many people have been using Zoom. User-friendliness makes sense.
Anyway. I have it set so everyone comes in automatically with audio enabled and video disabled, so we'll be able to hear but not see each other. Should you wish to turn on your video or turn off your audio, that's your choice. I currently plan to be audio-only.
Also, it looks like there is, in fact, a 40 minute limit on meetings of three or more people (unless it's a school thing, in which case one can apply to change that). However, the last few virtual write-ins I've attended that way have had the limit removed during the meeting, without the host doing anything. I don't know if that's going to happen to us; I set the meeting length at an hour and fifteen minutes, so in theory we can't get suddenly cut off, but we should plan this around a forty-minute duration in case the write-in miracle doesn't show up :)
That's all (for now), folks!
~Z
Mostly because, uh, the decision was just made for me. I now have a conflict on Monday as well as today--no idea why everyone's scheduling things for roughly this time, but there you have it! We'll be doing this on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. It'll probably last 30-45 minutes (or 30-40, depending on Zoom's time limits--I have yet to see them kick in, but supposedly it sometimes cuts off at the 40 minute mark, so we'll keep an eye out for that).
Hopefully that works for everyone! If it doesn't, I'm sorry, and hopefully we'll catch you in a potential second reading.
We also currently have what amounts to three votes for First Test, so odds are that's our book. Ix, you're still welcome to weigh in. (Also, Fuda, the metal plant is pretty great!)
I'm going to schedule the meeting, uh, today or tomorrow, I guess--we'll see how that goes. Never done it before. Once I have it, I'll email it to you all; I already have emails for Neshomeh and Iximaz (the perils of co-writing :P) so if you are anyone other than them and are interested (yup, still leaving this open to anyone else who wants to join!) please either send me an email or leave yours below! I can be reached at dawnfire360 (at) gmail (dot) com. (replace (at) with @ and (dot) with . and close the spaces, of course--no idea if the spam worries are still a thing on the new Board, but why not be careful?)
Off we go! Here's hoping Zoom meetings are simple to set up :)

I watched this with my family last week, and no lie, I actually started crying. I have never cried watching movies since four years ago.
The animation was beautiful, the plot didn't make me go back into my room to log onto Discord, and it causes general fuzzy feels for an hour afterwards.
But what makes it an item on my top-ten list is how each character is so well-rounded: I'm sure we're used to the Evil Stepfather and Anyone Who Tries to Impede the Protagonists' Goals are Automatically Evil. Each of them are three-dimensional beings wrought from the mind of some very diligent writers.
In conclusion: Me Love this Film. A Lot.
It would be great if you could find time to read my other missions, but if you can’t that’s fine too. I’ll send you the link later today.
Deadpool leans forward excitedly in the squashy armchair, where he has been munching away at a big platter of poutine.
Ooh, description! I like it.
[[Finally.]]
{No tacos, though. :(}
Shh, I'm trying out my new Force powers.
Deadpool waves a hand in a familiar arc, and intones the phrase: These are the tacos you are looking for. By which I mean, you should go get me tacos.
{The description's sticking around. I'm not sure I like this.}
[[You're such a scaredy-cat sometimes. Description is great!]]
I agree. It's good for the soul. As are tacos. #pointedlook.
[[I don't think you're supposed to put self-description in hashtags.]]
I'm [BLEEP] Deadpool. I--
What was that?
{Oh no.}
[[...I think you might be being censored.]]
What? That's an outrage! I'm Deadpool!
[[I think it's just a family-friendly environment thing.]]
I got bleeped! I don't get bleeped!
[[You haven't been swearing much at all, have you noticed?]]
{Aaah! Panic panic panic--}
Well, I'm definitely swearing now! [BLEEP! BLEEPBLEEPBLEEEEEEP!] Argh!
[[Yeah, I don't think any of that got through.]]
{!!!}
...you know what, I think I can use this. Hey, readers! I'm swearing very creatively right now, but you'll never know what hilarious things I'm coming up with! Evil laugh! [BLEEEPITY BLEEP BLEEPING BLEEEEEP!]
[[...]]
{...did that look different to anyone else?}

Psst. Hey. Psst. You. Yes, you, the guy from last time.
Don't forget the tacos. #Jedimindpowers.
((So, yeah, I realized it makes perfect sense for him to jump around the thread. Stranger things have happened! ~Z))
Ooh, are you talking about me?
((Gah!))
I'm already in this post, you know. Makes it easy to jump around in it.
((I put in a line! You're supposed to stay--oh, forget it. Just shoo.))
Write me in some tacoooooos!
((I'm telling you, this guy's a headache in person.))
What do you know? This really does link to the song! No false advertising!
{I feel like we should be suspicious of that.}
[[I think it works.]]
{You would.}
Psst. Hey, author. Write us some detail next time, will you? Maybe a couch and some tacos? I'm craving tacos. It's becoming a problem.
