Judging by the time stamp on the Board, your timezone is the same as my timezone. {= )
I have read the mission and enjoyed it, and an in-depth constructive review will be forthcoming soonish--unless you'd like to bank it for later, or bundle it in with beta-reading for the epic mission. Either way.
I will say here that the thing about being "slightly younger" than Aragorn bugged me, too. I spent several seconds ranting about it in my head before reading on and realizing that you did, in fact, remark on it.
As for not being able to explain it with 'Sue research failure, I'd argue that you can. It only comes up in the extended edition during that scene with movie!Eowyn's cooking, as I recall, so if she never watched that she could miss it. ... Of course, that still doesn't explain missing that Viggo Mortensen was in his forties at the time of filming, but we can't have everything our own way. {= P
Also, I got all the musical references, and I love you for them. ^_^

Sounding familiar is not a guarantee of having read one of Todd McCaffery's solo books. He steals enough stuff from Anne that they seem familiar even while you read them for the first time. The one thing that he forgot to take was the cure for the dragon plague in Dragonheart. Instead, he ended it with Fiona (since when has that been a Pernese name?) and some male dragonrider declaring their love for each other. How does that help cure a plague? I understand (kind of) having that part in the middle of the book, but as the final scene? What was he thinking?</rant>

I'll check out the Freedom series if I remember. I think I remember enjoying the less dragon-oriented books more. Variety is the spice of life, I guess. I agree that Pern is a great world. My favorites are the one where life seems to continue beyond the books, and I like the Fourth World series (mostly unremarkable, though I like the feel of the final book) for the same reason. Canon Sues do seem to be more difficult to find when most of the cast is borderline. Acorna (at least in the book I read) didn't seem incredibly different than most female main characters in Pern, but her Sueishness is more obvious.

I found this through TvTropes, so sorry if it's been reported before, but I found that this fic was notable for taking a whole lot of bad ideas, namely high school AU, angsty backstory, significantly fouler language than in canon, and explicit slash, throwing it all together...
... and creating a fic that is really, really good.
Seriously, I suspect this to be a professional author having fun in other peoples' fandoms. This story is the reason I can't bring myself to condemn any genre out of hand. I don't even like the main pairing and it's still my favorite story. So I thought I'd share it. I especially love the way it deals with rival love interests, and the way the backstories don't seem contrived or ridiculous, nor do the characters whine about them. And there are some real underlying themes that carry it all, I'd say.
So, your opinions?

I think - actually, screw it, know - that the weird dynamics are why I love that little family so much. That was cute, and hilarious. "Stop fussing and help me get the ferret off the ceiling!" And Skyfire wanting to rustle Stormsong's fur was really cute. (I can't blame her.)

You beast, you fiend, you absolutely horrible person! How dare you! We will have your guts for this! Your entrails! Your intestines (both small and large), your innards, we shall tie NOOSES with them and lynch your internal organs for such a terrible deed!
Because THERE ARE NOJOKESSNOWFLAKES ON THIS BOARD.
This is a 'Board of temperatures strictly above freezing, and for insinuating (with absolutely horrendous spelling, MIGHT I ADD) that "flakes" of "snow" would be welcomed here-- nay, that they could BEFRIEND the obviously room-temperature posts of this forum-like-space...

Contains my e-mail address and request for details to be sent there. Just so everything is in one place, really. But, you already have my e-mail address, right?
I definitely DON'T need the kind of detail that was in that fic, though!

This author has a...style...all her own.
Thankfully. I might just give up on the English language if someone else had that style! Whatever mission my agents have next is going to be a tough act to follow in terms of sheer eye-blinding horror.

Thank you! Actually, it was pretty difficult to resist the idea of Morse Code in the story. I mean, seriously. TELEGRAMS? Who the Flaming Denethor thinks, "You know, the Golden Age of Piracy is awesome to write about...but what it really needs is a telegraph system!"?
The stray Suefic eyeballs automatically become Misspelled Monkey chow. Mmm-mmm, good. Though the little critters still have a weakness for fangirl jewelry, Eru bless 'em.

That was... wow. I didn't know so much urple could exist in one fic. What a nightmare. O.o
I suspect at least one of those jewels is going to end up in Agent Earwig's pockets eventually.
So! What prize do you want, a drabble, a drawing, or beta-reading?
