... I didn't know there were any other Midwestern Boarders. I'm in between you, though -- a proud (though rather global) Wisconsinite.

We are the more common subspecies of Michigander--I think the term is Trolls, though I've seen Wombats ('cause we're "down under" the Mackinac Bridge, I guess). We are carless in Ravenswood, but if you'd like to come hang out in the city sometime, that would be cool. With any luck we can get former Boarder Tungsten_Monk to come, too. {= )

Heh. NaNo cut me short an hour, so I'll never know the final official count, but I doubt it'd go from 24,880 to 50K in the change; maybe up to 25K, but eh. Still, better than I've done in the past! Last year's was a bit over 14,000. Maybe next time, we'll see. This was, I think, my fourth try-- certainly not my last.
And then I wrote a little thing about it, and managed to not wallow in self-pity and failure! So that's all good.
Glad you made it! And enjoyed it. ^_^

Well? Who did it? Who won? Who made their goal? Who failed miserably but had fun doing it?
I set my goal at 20k, because this was my first attempt at any such thing, and I made it. This is a first, writing so much in such a short period of time, and I hope it won't be the last. It's been fairly cool, if also hair-pulling-ly maddening at times. Next year, maybe I'll even try for the full 50k. ^_^
~Neshomeh, almost looking forward to going back and turning it into somewhat decent writing now.

I don't live in Michigan now, but my fiance and I did until a few months ago. We're in Chicago now. Perhaps there are enough of us in this general Northern Midwest area to try for a Gathering sometime.
I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving. We did, too. ^_^

And thank ye most kindly for linking my ol' MST! Cassie gave me the news, and I confess myself most honoured. Never thought it'd earn such acclaim.
Was loads of fun to write, even if I did eventually give up in the end to save my own brain. After the initial (and the continuing) fury, it sort of sapped my will to mock.

I usually get around the mature thing by right clicking on the picture and choosing 'copy image location' instead of giving the url to the DevArt page.

Well, most of the music I listen to is pretty tame and doesn't have (English) lyrics, so I dunno. You might look into the band Iron and Wine, though. I can't make out the words a lot of the time, but that's partly because the music is so laid back that I don't try. Still, the snippets I have caught are interesting.

However, it is pretty much beyond home cures. It might be caused by a medication, but unless he falls down sometimes as a result, the best solution is probably to ignore it. If he does fall, or if it is getting worse, he should see a doctor.

Because Colin Meloy is a genius. Any other songs you think could inspire Redwall-type fics? I'm thinking "Mariner's Revenge".

Perhaps this is a good time to share other Twilight mockery I've found on deviantART. I have no idea if any of it is mature or whatever, so apologies if anyone can't view these.
Showdown: HP vs. Twilight
New Moon: A Summary
... And I can't seem to find the one that was a demotivational picture of a bunch of women with a sign that said Twilight Moms, with the caption of "If these were 40-year-old men acting like this over 17-year-old girls, someone would call the police."
Enjoy. ^^
