Beta Request. by

I don't know how to phrase this very well, but my Beta got called away by Real Life concerns a few days ago and had to end our partnership, asking me if I could find another one on the Board in order so that I can get back to my Original Fic project. If anyone sounds interested, despite the fact that I haven't mentioned anything possibly related to it last year (Okay, that was another, discontinued, fic project, but notice that I said possibly); please email me. My adress is johnmasias1@yahoo.com.

Found this in the Dragonlance section of the pit. it is slightly stupid, but good for a laugh.

Wish I could be useful but all I have saved are most of the original Jay and Acacia missions, which all seem ‘locatable’. With a lot of the dead links it took me ages to find a lot of the up and running stuff, and that happened because an active agent managed to link me to them! (Thanks Lily Winterwood!)

... it's allowed, as in, well, no-one can stop you, and MSTs are fun and funny no matter whether the subject matter is fanfic or original.
However, the PPC is specifically for dealing with fanfic. So while I'd say yes, you can MST original fiction, I would say that you would need to do so as yourself or using some characters you'd made up for the purpose or whatever, rather than PPC agents, and that you probably shouldn't do it under the PPC banner, as it were.

That would be okay for just text, but some sites are more than that. The Wiki doesn't allow for the same flexibility of formatting as a regular website. I'd prefer to preserve as much of the originals as possible, including their looks. Maybe that's just me, though.

The Department of Cool and Unusual Punishment (Agents Twiggy, Scorpia, Brittany)
The Department of Improbabilities (Alec Troven)
Response Center #44 (Artemis)
Response Center #444 (Gundamkiwi and Wayne)
And that's it for my links. I think I can probably get to them, but it doesn't hurt to have multiple copies, so please take any that catch your fancy.
And, incidentally, you don't have to be a genius at HTML to help out. All you have to do is go to the page, right-click, select Frame (because it's Geocities), and then View Frame Source. Then just copy & paste everything from the opening HTML tag to the closing HTML tag into a Notepad file. Rinse and repeat for everything linked from the landing page. And don't forget to save any images.
Also, really, who would be interested in helping out with a website for rescued PPC stuff? Something more than one person would be able to access and edit?

Haven't got time to read this yet because I'm about to go sign on, but the "French" benefits will be intriguing me all afternoon. I'm leaning towards interpreting it as syphilis.

Heck, if Neshie needed somebody else to help out (business partner, is that the term?), I'd be there like a shot! That entire setup sounds like my dream job.

and considering my minimal ability with web pages, I'm probably not the best person to be involved with mirror sites, but in case anyone's wondering, geocities is going down entirely on October 26.

A partial solution by

I started putting the Oddlots site (or rather, the PPC section of it) onto one of my sites, here. A lot of the links are still dead (I haven't restored much beyond the Buffyverse missions and chargelist), but the Constitution is up there. So it'd work for now, until I can get internet access back long enough to finish the job.

Constitution and Geocities by
on 2009-09-28 16:58:00 UTC

I know someone has a copy of the constitution we can put somewhere (the Wiki?), and I also know someone was undertaking to save some of the Geocities sites.
I don't remember who either of these people are, because my memory is full of holes. Like cheese. I like cheese...
But anyway, I will volunteer to save the JAAKSONS, the Handbook, and SIELU to start with. I'd be happy to host the Handbook and at least the FicPsych bit of the JAAKSONS, too. I'm a little leery of putting a bunch of other people's stuff where they can't get to it, but if we decide we want to do that... *shrug*
Actually. What if we started up a website just for mirroring this stuff? I happen to like Tripod better than Freewebs for the most part, and they do offer a lot of storage. I haven't even begun filling my StarShadow Hall space (which includes my PPC stuff), and I've been using it for years.
This is just for starters. I've got plenty of links in my PPC bookmarks that are on Geocities that need saving, too. I can provide a list when I'm back on the computer that actually has those bookmarks on it.

Important: Going with the whole 'progress' boat... by

We have a lack of a link to the constitution right now, and the PPC page on Cam's site has a defunct link to the board.
Beyond that, a lot of geocities sites seem to be kinda dead and if not dead will soon be dead, and Oddlots has disappeared into the ether.
Obviously this is not a job a July intends to volunteer to fix singlehandly since that's not possible, so I'm pointing this out to everyone else, since more people results in more fantastic explosions.
Thoughts? Solutions? Suspensions? Colloids? *puns*

I used to have a rather huge callus on my middle finger from writing; it hasn't come back for a year or so, though, probably because I'm splitting my writing fairly equally between notebook and computer (or maybe it'll reappear in high school, who knows).
