The laws regarding parody and quoting are the same everywhere in America, as far as I know, and dA is based in America. Publishers can put restrictions on just how much can be quoted from their books, but there is a minimum allowance as long as you give proper credit. But, as dA isn't actually a publisher, I don't think that even applies.
In a nutshell: You're fine. Go for it. {= )

Stupid movies, brought all sorts of Suethors out of the woodwork.
The more I'm thinking about it, and considering other people's comments, I'm leaning towards just avoiding the fandom altogether. There's plenty of other vampire continua I can get my agent from.

As long as we're careful not to overlap charges from the various episodes.
And you're right. I'll have to make this a new thread. Later, when I'm not sneezing my head off.

Just because I think this one is being lost in the glacier-like flow of posts.
Just to clarify, do you plan to have some agents listing charges for episode one, others do part two, and so on, until someone (or all of us?) can charge and condemn her in the end?

If the author has forbidden fanfiction, there isn't likely to be any badfic for us to kill, is there? And if there is it's a whole different problem. As for agents from the forbidden continua... We need to remember that the PPC is essentially fanfiction. A rather odd genre of fanfiction, but fanfiction all the same. I'm no permission giver but I'm gonna have to say we're probably not allowed to use forbidden characters.

I know it has been a while since I last posted but I am floating around silently.
On the question I would, in my very limited way, agree that if the author has requested that no fanfiction be written about their constructions that it be left alone. As an author myself I know that I would take gret offense at bad fanfiction writers distorting my creations and would even look a little sideways at good fanfiction because I would worry that the fanfiction may interfer with the canon. With regard to the second point, again taking the attuide of an author I would say that having agents from that canon would be ok. After all most fandoms are simply huge and the author in question only deals with a small percentage of the people.
My two cents on the subject. Sorry if anybody considers me a little ............. I am not trying to be.

Song Help? by

I’ve been trying to come up with a comedy song for a bard to sing in a Fable fic of mine. I’ve come up with this. It’s based off of something one of you said about a year or so ago about (I think) the amount of Sues that have always known Middle-Earth was a real place (shortly before turning into elves). Someone then said something about why there were no Sues who knew the Silmarillion was real, then it turned out it wasn’t. I thought that was an amusing idea, so I turned it into a song. If it’s cheesy, that’s possibly even better. The bards of Fable are pretty rubbish. Any improvements would be welcome. The song ends when it does because Marek (main character) leaves the room at that point as an excuse so that I don’t have to write any more, but if you want to continue it, feel free.
Some tales have a hero,
Others have none,
But this is a tale,
Of someone really dumb.
All heroes need a name,
Mary-Sue was ours,
A princess by birth and nature,
She was like one of the stars.
Her beauty was great,
Her tongue was witty,
Or so she thought,
She was really a ninny.
She claimed to be intelligent,
But forgot two plus two,
She was as nosy as an aardvark,
And about as sensible too.
So it was that she crept,
One night into her father’s study,
It would have worked,
If her shoes were not muddy.
She found a large book,
Red jacket and hard-backed,
Which predictably she read,
Not as fiction but fact.
It told an epic tale,
About a magnificent gem,
If she ever got the hang of sharing,
Luckily, there were three of them.
They were shiny,
They were bright,
One was coated in phosphorus,
To stand out at night.
So she started on a journey,
Through mountains and mist,
To find a great artefact,
Which didn’t exist.

It's not terribly bad so far-the author has a passable understanding of the English language, for one thing- but there are a couple "Huh?" moments, and well...the summary speaks for itself. I'm not saying someone needs to kill it yet, but it should definitely be watched. Any fic in which the author "isn't sure" if it's Twilight or Blue Bloods should be regarded with suspicion at best, burned into ashes at worst. Anyone familiar with both canons will understand why.

This story is about a girl and the story of her terrifying but romantic life. I did label it Blue Bloods but I think it is Twilight too. Please read and review!

"The Curse of Millhaven" - a charming little song I found via TVTropes' "Enfante Terrible" entry when entering her in it. "I got a pretty little mouth underneath all the foamin', lalalala lalalalie ..." Violent children are fun, though my mental jury's still out on whether she's going to grow up into a genuinely nasty vermin or just a Chaotic Neutral. Six-year-olds are chaotic neutral by default.
Also have been reading Simon R Green's Hawk and Fisher novels, and I wondered whether they'd make a good agent pair because they have the l33t weaponry skills and witty banter down pat and they're used to killing weird things.

I've found a few awful Vampire Chronicles/Twilight crossovers. Do they fall under the same forbidden category, or would it be acceptable to go and remove Lestat from Twilight-verse?

Thanks, everyone! And to anyone who is still thinking of volunteering...it's not too late!
What I'm thinking of is dividing this mission up into four parts: one part for every episode of the miniseries. For those of you who haven't see Lost in Austen, you can go onto Wikipedia and figure out where the episodes begin and end from the plot summary there. Then, simply choose your (least) favorite episode and e-mail me *points above*. That way, the poor agents will get some relief from the badfic. Don't worry...you can all be present for the no doubt gruesome ending of Amanda Price (though I haven't decided what that will be, yet. Red-hot shoes are very tempting).
Thanks for volunteering!

I keep on having to stop myself from screaming "STU STU STU!!!" whenever I see people reading the Gold Brick at school (or "SUE SUE SUE!!!" at the sight of Twilight). And I jumped a little when I saw the word Manx when I was looking something up on Wikipedia (dunno what it was, though.)
And then there was the time when the New York Times spelled Tolkien "Tolkein." Glods, was I pissed off...
And then lots of occasions when I wish for Bleeprin loudly and ferverently. I get a lot of odd looks for that one.

I'm not a tremendous expert in either fandom, but I would say so - the Crucible seems to be a brute-force weapon, not relying on any of the subtleties of the Hammerverse. Also, the base elements of the weapon (human psychics, existence after death, and so on) exist in Pokemon.
