But people keep posting on the other one, too, and it's been slow enough lately that no one is really sure.

We'd decided to let the secondary board remain secondary, or used just for RP threads and other things expected to get huge. But I think that discussion was a couple of weeks ago. Things might have changed since then.

It's almost done... I nearly got finished before school started, but then it did. So it could be another couple of months or more before it's ready for beta-reading, at which point I'll have to ask for volunteers again, because I can't remember who all said they would do it. >.>

Actually, I've enrolled my inner Mary Sue. Oh come on, everyone has to have a little part of them who wants to go be a perfect little princess in a different world and get the hottest male in the area! It's just that some inner MSs are more profound than others, and that's part of what makes Suethors so...odd.
For a PPC-er, it's just lurking there in the back, heavily stifled by the inner Canon Lover.

And I agree wholeheartedly with your statement regarding what inter-continuum travel SHOULD be.

...for the simple reason that death would be much slower, and of the Sue's own making.

See, one of the things I REALLY hate about this TV show is:

a) it makes Pride and Prejudice sound like escapist literature, which it is NOT.

b) it legitimizes escapism without consequences, that is, the Mary Sue sees nothing wrong with escaping into Pride and Prejudice instead of dealing with the consequences of everyday life. That, my friend, is called turning yourself into a victim of circumstance.

One of my favorite passages ever comes from the Neverending Story. It has this to say about Fantastica (the world of human fantasy):

'There are people who can never go to Fantastica,' said Mr. Coriander, 'and others who can, but who stay there forever. And there are just a few who go to Fantastica and come back. Like yuou. And they make both worlds well again.'

That is what fantasy should be. That is what going into another world should be. The character should have enough imagination to go there, enough pragmatism to go back, and enough strength to knit her desires into the fabric of her real life, and make both her dream and day-to-day worlds whole and healthy.

...they never do that, though, do they?

Let's not forget the Mirror of Galadriel. Convince the Lady of Light to will only P&P images to appear before Mary Sue's eyes, and then we shall see what happens if you do touch the water. Hopefully it is not something good. Otherwise, we can try and drown her in the Mirror. *evil grin*

...But I can point you in the direction of what is possibly the best parody of bad fanfic ever written. It's listed under Kingdom Hearts, though what happens in it can apply to most fandoms.

The writing is excellent, the jokes are hilarious, and the three characters who are supposed to be IC remain so throughout the fiction. ...You'd have to read it to understand what that means, but pretty much these three face the horrors of what fandom does to their acquaintances.
