Welcome, fans of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum and supporters of the Canon Protection Initiative! If you've got a story to plug, an opinion to share, or a discussion you want to join in, this is the place!
If you're looking for PPC stories to read, why not start with The Original Series – the missions of the famous assassins Jay and Acacia, the very first stories in PPC history. Once you've finished them, check out the list of Killed Badfic to find a mission you like the look of, or The Complete List of PPC Fiction to look up specific agents or departments.
Before you join the fun, there are some important links you should know about. Being familiar with these will save you a lot of hassle!

Assuming for the moment that we're going to Miraheze, they have helpful information on moving a wiki to Miraheze, including specifics about moving from Fandom.
They note that images are not included in the XML dump I can get from Fandom, so we will likely have to do all image downloads manually. {= / I'll state now, anything non-essential is likely to get left behind in the process (and that may not be a bad thing).
I don't exactly know what they mean when they say we "may provide Miraheze with image dumps from your Fandom for us to import." Can someone explain how to create an image dump?
I expect the process is likely to be similar for anywhere else we might choose, too.
~Neshomeh
We also have a link from the Know Your Meme page with a picture of said page, so... that's something, I suppose.
I don't exactly have any technical answers either, so I'm not sure about the views.

Regarding fandoms, people trying to avoid spoilers know to steer clear of articles and fanfics about them. Plus, our wiki has no need to go into great detail about any particular fandom, so spoilers can be minimized or avoided altogether.
Regarding PPC works, people who follow a spin-off closely enough to care about spoilers are probably reading the stories as they come out anyway. I tend to believe we're deluding ourselves if we think anyone is so passionately engaged a spoiler would upset them, though. Heck, knowing more about what a particular story is about may generate interest instead. In fact, I myself confess to often reading people's comments on a PPC story before deciding to read the story itself. >.>
That said, if there's a strong call to have spoiler formatting available for various uses (including, e.g., Blacklist content, NSFW content), I'd do it. But either way, I'm not implementing anything new until we're well settled on the future home of the wiki.
~Neshomeh
I can see from our Recent Activity feed that the My Little Pony page ranks so highly in part because of some recent troll edits and reversions. I suppose it's quite possible that regular people have visited the wiki using the same IPs in the past, or that the same trolls have been around using other IPs and Fandom somehow knows this(??), but it's a bit sus.
What baffles me is that the Citrus Scale page has been the most-viewed page (or well up there) as long as I can remember—I didn't check at all before naming it in a previous post, I just know this for fact. Somehow we're the best explanation of it on the web, I guess? {X D
I wonder if one or two of those "returning visitors" aren't Google bots or some such, doing sorcery for the algorithms?
I don't know exactly how sites tabulate page views (or "sessions" on various devices/browsers, another set of stats ranking in the thousands), anyway.
~Neshomeh
Given the number of visitors, I'd guess they're all or almost all current PPCers. So, yeah, we wouldn't be missed.
I do have to wonder, then why on earth Citrus Scale is so viewed. Who the heck is looking at that page over a thousand times?

We do have some analytics data, which I'm told is "shared as a courtesy for our administrators and should not be re-shared without permission."
...
Congratulations, by the power vested in me as a PPC Wiki admin, for the purposes of this discussion you're all honorary PPC Wiki admins!
So anyway, in the last 30 days from today in UTC:
There's more information on the page, but I think this is everything pertinent to the current discussion.
I'm no analytics expert, but I reckon this backs up our suspicion that they won't miss us at all, especially if we decide the Citrus Scale is no longer relevant to our wiki. {= P

I'd like to see how niche it actually is.

They also seem to nuke very inactive wikis, which may have had something to do with that. But unfortunately, we have enough spam that I don't know if that would happen.
They also don't allow their wikis to be locked, so that might just mean that whoever tries to make all pages un-editable would just lose admin status.
Also, while I'd guess they would be okay with it, Miraheze requires that you request your wiki, so the staff must approve it.
I think leaving admin rights in the hands of a couple anonymous accounts (such as Nesh's) might be a good idea, though hopefully we'd have at least a couple different people with access.

There are user accounts for "Sunflower Official", "The Marquis de Sod", and "The Kudzu", which belong to no one and for which I happen to have the passwords. They were made to deliver automated/boilerplate messages (and also a bit of RP). They can be shared between a few of us as needed.
There's "Sub Rosa", too, but unfortunately I don't have the keys to that one and I'm not sure who would.
(And there's also "The Fittonia", but that is a bot account registered to me, so not helpful for this purpose.)
~Neshomeh is amused at being mistaken for hS.
We're niche - incredibly so, to the point I am more worried about Fandom suddenly nuking our wiki as soon as it becomes convenient more than I'm worried about them not letting us close it.
Let's face it, a wiki like ours doesn't move much traffic - and the page about, say, the Sunflower Official has a similar weight on their servers to, say, Sakura Kinomoto's on the Cardcaptor Sakura wiki while likely not providing even a hundredth of the latter's traffic to them.
Of course, when it comes the time, there's a few tricks we can use to "go under the radar".
As the group seeks help from the tengu scientist who gave Kaguya the mysterious pill, revelations are made.
I’m really digging the time jumps here; I think Tarantinoing the timeline helped spread out the information vs. action, and built up more suspense for the events inside the maze. It also reduces the time between Amos Diggory saying and regretting his words even shorter and more painful! “Whatever means possible,” sir? Welp . . . I’m slightly proud that I guessed the answer to the sphinx’s riddle before I read the solution! (“Proud” because I’m terrible at such riddles, “slightly” because the answer was one of the overarching themes of this canon . . .)
Gosh, that Boggart sure . . . used a prop, and seemed weirdly self-aware of what it was doing! Are they usually that smart? reads Wiki page Okay, I always had Boggarts pegged as being animalistic, and transforming automatically, but I guess there is some evidence that they may be sapient? Weird! Although, rereading your scene, the tomato sauce thing might just be the effect of Harry’s Boggart-Banishing Spell, huh? . . . Boy, I hope no one in the audience read too much into the conversation Harry had with the Boggart! Except for Draco, he should read everything into it!
Not to make light of Cedric dying, but it was a good scene, enjoyable in the sense of tense and exciting. I think maybe your title for this year is a bit too on-the-nose compared to the other years, because I pretty much knew the Triwizard Cup was going to be cursed with a trap all along, it was mainly just a question of who would wind up touching it, and whether they would survive. I loved seeing Harry and Fleur teaming up to try to counteract the curse. With both of them bringing different, relevant talents to the table, and the progress they were making in contacting Skaro, you almost had me thinking they were going to rescue Cedric for a moment there . . . At least that whole scene got spellcast to the wizarding community, including Harry’s ill-timed rant, so the authorities won’t be able to deny that there was intentional, malicious sabotage going on!
Ooooooooh, “MWPP” stands for “Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, Prongs!” I got so confused by that when it got mentioned in an earlier chapter, because my brain went, “Myrtle Warren/Peter Pettigrew” and I was like, the timeline doesn’t work for that?! Hah hah, I’m incredibly dense. I was also about to ask why Bonnefoy, Liu and Robinson had to hide their polyamory, because I had already seen that this culture is fine with queer couples, but I think I just answered my own question: the culture is fine with queer couples, because sorting Pureblood society into couples maximizes Pureblood babies, just as sorting capitalist societies into hetero couples maximizes labor units. It’s just not efficient for Lady Robinson to hog two men all to herself! Gross! I hate that I thought of this!
“. . . before pulling out a photograph out of a beaded handbag . . .”
Out, out, extra out! (I do love the detail that goblins, with their love of metal artisanry, would give each other sculpted flowers, amazing detail!)
“Cedric, ask Qiu to give her your magic.”
Unless I’m wildly misunderstanding the bonding magic situation, I think these pronouns are backwards?
—doctorlit, extremely troubled that Neville’s absence hasn’t been resolved by the close of the chapter D :
I finally finished last year after something like seven previous attempts (only four were really serious, but still) and I aim to keep that momentum going!
This year's project is a little scifi romp I've been describing as a platonic love story. It's all about space chases, astrophysics mysteries, and the power of optimism and sincerity. Presently titled Between the Clouds and the Stars, we'll see if it sticks.
Progress thus far hasn't been ideal. Only six hundred words of which about half were mostly written from earlier in the year, but I often start a bit slow. I'll make it up. I can be found on site as Badger421 (unsurprisingly) if anyone wants to help hold me to that. XD
also hi yes I'm still here. Life's just been batting me around like a tennis ball the last couple years and I haven't really had the energy for this sort of community interaction
Having less ads and restrictions on what we can put on our wiki is definitely a better option, though I do understand that moving the wiki will be quite the undertaking. If we do decide to move, I will fully support it.
I personally believe Miraheze is the best option if we do move.
can we have some sort of spoiler formatting?
Dusted off an account I abandoned two years ago to get to work! Granted, Real Life is also pretty busy, so I'm setting relatively low standards (10000 words for now) just so it doesn't feel overwhelming.
Probably just going to work on some of the dozen PPC-based WIP's I have floating around. Those, and some original fiction I've had cached as jumbled brain-shapes since my high school years, because might as well try to give them form for once.
so I guess I'm continuing that. I will say year 5 of Heirs of Avalon is well past 50k--the year is split into parts and each part so far has been about 50k and I'm on part 3. This sort of stuff is definitely something you've got to build endurance for!!
Cheering for you guys!
Yep, I'm doing it again for the fourth year running (and hoping for this to be my third successful attempt). I'm still working with the same formula that I've found to work previously, which means instead of focusing on writing 50,000 words for one story I'm aiming to average 10,000 words each for five stories. As with last year these are 4 fanfics and 1 original fic (and there is some worldbuilding stuff for something else I might do on the side, it's not really a story so I'm not counting it towards my total but it's writing I'm aiming to get done in November). The Five 'Fics are:
Raised to Rule: Skyrim Fanfic
For the Crusade!: Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous Fanfic
Rift Walker: Grim Dawn/Dragon Age Inquisition Fanfic
Remnants of the Old Republic: Star Wars The Old Republic/Star Wars The Clone Wars Fanfic
Sabre Storm: Original SciFi fic.
Day One saw 1,975 words written for Raised to Rule so happy with how that's started off. I can be found on NaNoWriMo as Novastorme (unsurprisingly) if you want to watch the inevitable train wreck.
Nova
P.S yeah, sorry for letting the prompts run out and generally not being around, it's a long story but I've been busy with some other (non-serious writing/creative) stuff.
My biggest worry would be if they don't delete it, and the wiki somehow ends up in the hands of a disaffected anti-PPCer.
Not that that's likely to happen. I think at worst, we would have to designate one community member to look over the "old" wiki. Again, no idea how likely this is, but...
--Ls
This year my lifestyle is actually somewhat conducive to this, so I'm going to do... something! Dunno if I'll go so far as to get on the website, but I'm committed to spending less time on streaming sites and more time with writing docs open on my laptop, anyway.
~Neshomeh
Annoying, but good to know. Especially the part about not damaging the original wiki. Might put paid to the "withering" idea, unfortunately.
But again, we might be small and unimportant enough that they don't care, especially if we're very selective and don't rush.
~Neshomeh
Like, "Hey, we are the PPC Wiki Community, and we have unanimously agreed to remove our wiki from Fandom. Please comply."
In theory they should have no argument against that. In theory.
