Welcome, fans of the Protectors of the Plot Continuum and supporters of the Canon Protection Initiative! If you've got a story to plug, an opinion to share, or a discussion you want to join in, this is the place!
If you're looking for PPC stories to read, why not start with The Original Series – the missions of the famous assassins Jay and Acacia, the very first stories in PPC history. Once you've finished them, check out the list of Killed Badfic to find a mission you like the look of, or The Complete List of PPC Fiction to look up specific agents or departments.
Before you join the fun, there are some important links you should know about. Being familiar with these will save you a lot of hassle!

but what's with the 2 weeks thing? 😵💫
30 days - 50,000 words. No plot? No problem!
Yes, it's NaNo season again, the time of year when you, yes YOU, can write a whole novel in a single month! I mean... you can do that any time if you're mad enough, but in November everyone else is doing it too, so there's peer pressure and stuff. So who's in?
I have once again thrown caution to the wind and signed up. This will be my ninth NaNo since 2009 (I do it roughly every couple of years). Three of the previous ones have been lost to Google, so this time I'm backing it up. My title game is as terrible as ever, so I will be flinging words recklessly onto the pages of "Chrono Crew: Journey to the Centre of Ennor".
Day One went well, I'm at 1880 words (you need to average 1667 per day to hit 50k). If you're taking part, look me up as Huinesoron and we can eye up each other's wordcounts jealously through the month.

Basically, Fandom wikis have been overrun by ads and otherwise ruined by the management prioritizing profit and control over community experience and autonomy. Notably, there was an incident where the McDonalds wiki was turned into a giant ad for the Grimace shake, without the prior knowledge or consent of the wiki's admins.
That Fandom sucks now isn't news, exactly, but people are fed up enough that several large wikis (including the Minecraft wiki) have left the platform, and it seems more are likely to follow. Fandom doesn't make it super-easy to fork a wiki, naturally, but it is possible, and there are options, with more starting to appear.

I don't have the... anything to watch a 22-minute, sound-required video about a website.

They'll allow it for about two weeks. And then they'll delete them and strip any admins who had anything to do with it of their admin powers.
~Neshomeh
I'd say to put crosslinks to the new wiki over articles but... I'm pretty sure Fandom hates that and might stop us. Which is unfortunate.
I like your thought on "withering" the Fandom wiki if we can't delete it outright. I've expanded on that a bit in my reply to Yuki's thread above.
~Neshomeh
It will require decisions that are thought through, not made in the spur of the moment, and the execution of those decision may take quite a while. Level-headed consideration and patience are necessary.
That said, I agree that moving is a good idea, and I think Miraheze is the logical choice. It's well established, and as far as I can tell it will let us keep doing our own thing more or less as we have done.
Telepedia doesn't sound like a good fit to me because it seems to emphasize curated content, and I don't care to have a third party between us and our articles. We don't need a "partnership programme" to help us create a "polished and professional wiki." We're not that important. {= P
The good news about that is there's a chance Fandom won't mind us leaving at all. However, sunsetting the current wiki is still a big deal. Lots of external links would be broken if we just up and deleted it, not all of which are under current members' control. We might want to see if we can be included in the Indie Wiki Buddy extension, though we may be considered too niche.
I still wonder if it wouldn't be best to request the current wiki be deleted before we even start a new one, just to see if they'd do it. Obviously I'd back up the current version first; I've done it before.
I also wonder if we couldn't force their hand by restoring all the articles they objected to. Dare them to take action. {= P We could do that whenever we're ready.
Failing that, we could throw a few salvoes at their SEO by pruning the highest-traffic pages (e.g. Citrus Scale) from Fandom and having them only on the new platform.
These are just a few preliminary thoughts. I'm gonna need a while to really come to terms with this, and I would really love to hear from the more technical-minded folks who may have more insight into the pros and cons of other prospective wiki hosts and what we'll have to go through to actually undertake a move.

I'll happily read your mission, but there's no need to worry about indexing your it. You can always do that later, depending on what happens.
--Ls
I have an interlude and a mission in the works, and they'll be announced om the board, but they will not be indexed on the wiki, since I'm temporarily ceasing wiki activity until further notice. The prospect of our wiki being ruined forever impacts me greatly, and can lead me to make impulsive decisions, and I am sorry and will accept any punishment if I'm causing anyone trouble surrounding this issue.
While the "basis" for a PPC mission is a badfic to be sporked, the wiki is about the PPC universe - about our stories, and the shared universe they place in and its worldbuilding.
Worst case scenario we have to avoid making pages about specific badfics, Suvians and their respective authors - but that's something we're in the process of nuking because Fanfom also frowns on that.
… and even a wiki on real-life criminals (but they're called real-life villains which is a major yikes).
It seems to be more of a TV and video game thing: "Wiki+ is the FREE, official wiki partnership programme from Telepedia to connect television studios and game developers to their communities. "

Due to reasons outlined in this thread, some of us have come to the conclusion that our wiki can no longer stay on Fandom, and needs to be moved to a new wiki farm. This can also allow us to get previously cut articles reinstated. I cast my first vote and suggest Telepedia, which is the most permissive wiki farm I've found and it also allows good visual designs.
https://telepedia.net/wiki/ allows for eye-catching visuals too.
And not just our opinions. However, I know for a fact that Miraheze is okay with them.

Our wiki might qualify as a reception wiki, which is not allowed on an awful lot of wiki farms.
Here are some other alternatives.

After they took offense to some of the Wiki pages for... basically absurd reasons, if I recall correctly.
I use a rather heavy-duty adblocker (uBlock Origin) and have been using an adblocker for ages (nothing like having to format your PC due to a pop-up ad infecting your PC with a nasty virus without even clicking it to make you decide you're done with ads) so I didn't notice, but I was indeed put off with many of the accessory things like the sidebar and their social thing.
I did just ignore the stuff I didn't care about, but I tried visiting the Wiki from the phone (which I never do since I tend to do stuff mostly from my computer) and... Damn. It's ridicolous. This is not how I want information about my characters to be stored.
(Fandom doesn't see to like information about my characters either, since when I started making a wiki for mi works they eventually nuked it without warning and without even telling me they did, so it seems the hate i mutual here.)
Considering they seem to be still going down the slippery slope, I wouldn't mind looking for an alternative - and, of course, to prevent the issue of duplicated wikis I would suggest "withering" the Fandom one once the jump is made by slowly deleting pages if we haven't got the possibility to fully nuke it.
