Tiger dragged himself the last few feet up to the rock and collapsed. He knew he was only about halfway to the top of the mountain, but he was struggling a little. His exhaustion wasn’t quite as bad as his sprawled position on the ground would suggest, but he was still extremely tired.

He lay back against the rock and stared at the waterfall in front of him, to the right of the path he had been climbing. There was a particularly steep part of the trail just ahead, and the mountain stream he had been following fell down the almost cliff-like rock face with a splashing sound, pooling at the bottom in a hollow before continuing to flow further down.

He closed his eyes and listened to the sound of the meltwater pouring down the waterfall. It was strangely soothing and peaceful. Tiger felt almost as if he could fall asleep. Wary of the possibility that he actually would, he prepared to struggle to his feet.

Just as he opened his eyes, the winter sun came out from where it had been hiding behind a cloud. Tiger felt its welcoming warmth on his skin.

Suddenly, there were rainbows. The sun was shining through the waterfall, and the light was reflected and refracted into a million sparkling shades of every colour, every drop of water glistening in the light.

He smiled slowly, watching the light as he dragged himself to his feet and reluctantly continued up the mountain.

I am very very very sorry for misreading your post so thoroughly. I don't have any excuse and will try to be more careful in rhe future.

I would offer to sing the Very Sorry Song, but given my voice... nobody wants that.

I wish I knew more about 40K so I could better appreciate the poem. Very nicely done.

Can we now declare Thoth and Derik as having the best bromance in HQ? Anyone? No?

It is really good to see Derik finally starting to work on getting better. Poor guy deserves to be happy after everything he's been through.

Even if you don't know the characters (especially since some of the characters in question are provisional).

This is sort of a pointless exercise if no one's asking questions.

Post a rant to the board every time you see a show you don't like? Or hear about a show you don't like? Or generally at the drop of a hat?

It gets old.

Sorry everyone for the language the board thankfully censored. I don't know what I was thinking.

So, I just thought of the best way to describe the third season of Sword Art Online. Spoilers BTW:

Kirito gets ganked with a happy-funtime needle by a disgruntled noob. In a coma, he gets spirited away by the government to debug their military AI simulation that's totally not immoral and illicit. Totally.

Meanwhile, Asuna panics and starts using her Waifu AI to track down her missing husbando. Finding him at a oilrig in the middle of the ...ing pacific, she gets a random chick who helped imprison her in a game for two years to help her infiltrate said oilrig, and rescue her husbando.

Meanwhile Meanwhile, Kirito discovers that the AI in the simulation have all discovered the art of the hackzor, and are using literal console commands that a dev forgot to restrict when baking the sim they're all in. As a result, one AI has taken over control of the entire game map, and has merged herself with the other person (or rather, AI) who had trapped Kirito and 10,000 others in a game for two years.

Then, Kirito meets a NPC who is really, really ...ing annoying; they go on a bunch of adventures, and defeat the evil hackzor with Infinity +1 swords. Fortunately, Kirito doesn't bust out his God-mode powers and start swinging two ...ing swords everywhere, at least until the final act.

Oh, and lets not forget the parade of useless waifu AI's Kirito encounters along the way.

Le's be honest: All this is somehow better than the last two seasons of SAO. Also the movie. And the OVA episodes. But it's nowhere close to the superb quality of the Abridged series by Something Witty Entertainment. Go watch that. Now.

That was really solid. The LP's gleeful malevolence was bone-chilling, and I love Dawn's charging into the confrontation without really thinking through the consequences.

The one thing it leaves me wondering is how death-proof Jacques is afterwards. Is he going to do the full Harkness immortality? Or just narrow scrapes after scrapes? That wasn't clear to my reading.

And, I blame you for this.

After just about the same set of discussions, 6k-ish words of writing happened, leaving me now having written more of these two in an AU than the prime multiverse.

For those who don't hang around the Discord, Prime!Sarah is a phoenix from Skin Deep who is only recently coming to grips with not being human, and Prime!Talia is a slightly-modified human from Trekverse, with an aquatic bent.

The Department of External Security’s holding cells were located in a secured section of the subconscious reality known as “The Backrooms”. We’ve all visited this space at some point: Walled by a maddening cream lit by fluorescent bulbs and carpeting that gave a soft ‘squelch’ when stepped on. One would likely find that it held the same off-kiltered, alt-dimensional feeling as a four in the morning KMart parking lot or a library with access to the L-Space. DES’ stake in the area was last measured to be about .0000000042% of the approximately six hundred million square miles of endless, samey rooms, and was connected to HQ via plothole at about 5 different points. The semi-fortunate souls that occasionally noclip themselves into this department make up about .000015% of PPC recruits. It was slightly easier to navigate than HQ, owing to the loss of the spatial dimension of probability.

Have a triple chocolate cupcake (chocolate with chocolate chips and chocolate icing), and don't forget to blow out the candle!

(We had a brownie and ice cream pizza for dessert last night, as well.)
