Some people seem to manage it, and that certainly makes things easier in our society. As with any consensual act between adults, if it works for you, that's cool.
But for many, it doesn't, and there is compelling evidence that it's because we've spent most of our existence as a species in egalitarian forager bands in which hoarding anything to yourself (such as food or an individual's attention) or infringing on another person's autonomy would be detrimental to the group and thus the height of antisocial behavior. Everything changed with the advent of agriculture (which seems to have been a terrible thing for our physical and psychological health). But the point isn't that one way or another is good or bad, just that it's fallacious to claim that only one is natural and right when there is copious evidence to the contrary. {= )
I'd go on, but I'm posting from my phone, so more details I found interesting will have to wait.

A Collaborative Interlude! by

A crossover
yearsmonths in the making! An exciting tale of troubles, tribulations, and possibly triumph! Other very dramatic descriptors to generate hype! A thousand elephants!
Seriously though. Like the title says, Nesh and I whipped up a collab interlude. Set in 2015, it features Gall and Gremlin enjoying a little downtime as they watch Aiden for an afternoon. Everything is fine and nothing goes wrong, of course.
Absolutely nothing goes wrong.
As always, comments and thoughts are much appreciated. Enjoy!

A less-than-prompt response. by

So this definitely qualifies as a response to prompt the first, in some possibly non-canon but definitely far-in-the-future time, where the Detective has a Long-Awaited Meeting.

The main reason I was thinking of going to MCM was because someone had said about a couple of PPCers (you included) coming down for it. So it's not like I was planning on going to it anyway, it was just a side bonus of a potential mini/improntu Gathering that doesn't matter as much anymore.

I will be at MCM as well, and while cons aren't the best for Gatherings, you certainly shouldn't feel like you need to choose between me and MCM.

Science museum sounds excellent, too!

Hello, and welcome aBoard! For your newbie gift, take this plate of freshly-made SPaGhetti!
Since you've already got plans to read the Original Series, all I really have left to do is point you at the Constitution. That and TOS are pretty much the only required reading around these parts. Another useful resource you might use is-

I'm glad to see we share some fandoms - I'm also into Harry Potter and LOTR (yes, we accept abbreviations. I think.)
For your newbie gift, have a bunch of purple bananas. I know it's weird, but it's the first thing I thought of.
And I have no plans to murder you.

Hello, I'm Shade, and I've decided I should introduce myself before losing myself within TOS and the mission stories. I generally lurk in FanFiction.net, but have dipped myself within AO3. My fandoms are; Harry Potter, Merlin (Tv Series) LOTR (Do you accept abbreviations?) Skulduggery Pleasant, Fate/Stay Night, Percy Jackson and Avengers. I’m a student in Australia but I have American roots, which makes for a horrible accent.
I love games, and I’m currently hooked on For Honor and the Witcher 3. I got here from browsing fanfiction.net and saw a reference a ‘Tenth Walker’ and ‘Mary Sue’. One thing led to another and now I’m here.
On a side note, please don’t murder me.
(Please note Australian English is different from American and British English)

I actually had that exact thought regarding Nume being cast as the shrinking violet all the time. I didn't go that way for this fic, for various reasons.
If I still have time, I'll see what I can do about it. ^_^

We should be able to come, but will have to bring the kids along. If the Gathering takes place at a museum-y-type-place, Kaitlyn has offered to split off with them once they get too antsy. So... how does the Science Museum sound? It's free, it's easy to access (right next to the Natural History Museum), and it's the one we were going to do last time if we had time, but didn't.
Also, y'know... science.

Y'know, I'm actually going to give you Dúros Black. by

I considered him early on (he would've been in with Architeuthis and Kyaris), but decided instead to de-adopt him; I've only used him a couple of times, and the DIA has moved on a lot since then. But, since I didn't actually edit the Wiki to reflect that, your find is valid.
Dúros Black and Irvine, DIA
(A recreation of the original Artemis Black & Irvine image, part of which is used as Black's pic on the Wiki.)
As for ignoring the explanation... which one? Dafydd thinks it's the Universal Translators, Peter says it's him, the Ghosts say they were responsible (or do they?), the Weeds say it came from outside HQ, and multiple people think it's an excess of rhum. Much like the Joker, the best backstory is one that's not fixed in stone. ^^
(I mean, my assumption is that Dafydd was right, and the Ghosts corrupted the Universal Translator software. But how does that account for Ramwe, whose speech isn't translated?
Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^^
