Could it be possible that the effectiveness of a mission as far as length goes might be related to editing/betaing time just as much as it's related to the length of the mission in pages? That'd also serve as a good point of comparison between a high-effort mission, an MST, and just nuking something.

I can't believe I'm getting to read one of your missions, that's just so neat! Your mission was lovely and you are perfect in every way! I hope one day I can write missions like that! And then everyone will like my missions and they'll like me! ((deep breath Charter above, I've been writing as my mirror self for two posts and I already feel the sugar coating the entirety of my mouth. I enjoyed the mission quite a lot- the idea of EPC agents getting irritated by parody fic brings a smile to my face. And seeing a Sue get rescued hurts my poor heart. By the Seven, he ruffled her hair!))

((I've been chewing over the idea of Mirror!Zing since this thread went up. So far, I've come up with just a little bit, to the effect of 'speaks her mind more frequently and with less worry about phrasing things correctly (apart from to get the best result for her--other people's feelings or misunderstandings aren't her concern)' and 'knows she seems innocent/harmless/sweet/friendly and, instead of trying to somehow shatter that image, which would probably be kind of difficult to do properly and annoying to keep working at, figured that the better way to go is to use it as much as suits her'. Basically, she's fine with being manipulative and frequently doesn't actually care much about how other people perceive her or react to what she says/does unless it's going to really inconvenience her.
...okay, looks like that's a more complete character than I'd thought. I may have even somewhat figured out how she talks now; we'll see, I suppose.
(Also, emoticons. Many emoticons. Overuse them. I left excessive punctuation more or less behind after early teenagerhood, but I could see mirror!me sticking a small handful of emoticons in everywhere.)
Re: the mission, I feel like I'm missing a joke with the Morrigan, and it's kind of jarring to see Agent hS not speaking, y'know, actual Tolkien languages, but that was very amusing and a fun read. The clones got me grinning right off, too. All in all, nicely done!

((You're not missing anything with Morri/Morgan. Morgan's big thing is /not/ being an arrogant Gallifreyan (often), so going full Pretentious Name for her Mirror counterpart seemed appropriate. Morgan I chose to name herself after the Battle-Crow; Morgan III doesn't really live up to it. But she's a /mean/ drunk.))
And I liked how you developed the EPC (and the theory of how missions work) more.

((But holy moley, this is a lot. I barely know where to start. I love all the mirror canon titles you created, and the implications for how those stories are different from what we know. I love the general shift into an entirely different perspective, and the missioning of a goodfic to show that perspective off. On that note, am I reading this line right? "'Like, the only way to permanently destabilise a fictive spatio-temporal line is to entangle it with an EPC agent's personal event-line before you make any changes.'" Is this the opposite of how PPC agents have to keep hidden and not interact with canon? You're saying EPC agents actually have to get themselves involved with canon characters in order to finish their missions? That is just such a weirdly intrusive detail to include; it fits perfectly, both with their modus operandi, and their general egotism and self-importance.))

That line is a theory (well, hypothesis) about why PPC/EPC/TCDA/etc agents actually have to spend time in the story. I mean, they can read the words on the screen and learn literally everything, so why do they need to go in there in the first place?
Hence, the hypothesis: agents have to make themselves part of the story to change it. In the same way that a long and detailed fanfic can alter the canon (at least according to the PPC... but this is how we get fanon, actually), a long and detailed 'story' - ie, a mission, a linking of event-lines - allows the agent to directly alter the badfic.
It is, of course, Only A Theory (probably out of Analytical Sciences), but it handily explains why some fics wind up being missioned twice: the initial mission wasn't entwined sufficiently for its effect to last. The destabilising effect is proportionate to both the scale of the intervention and its length; we can conjecture some examples:
-Normal PPC mission: duration = 3 (bulk of the story), scale = 3 (the Duty): effect = 3x3 = 9.
-MST: duration = 5 (full length), scale = 1 (just snark), 5x1 = 5.
-Lazy PPC mission: duration = 2, scale = 3, 2x3 = 6.
-Nuke it from orbit: duration = 1 (in and out), scale = 5 (bye-bye world), 1x5 = 5
Throw in the fact that too large a scale can ripple back to the canon proper, and you find the best result is a mid-scale intervention (eg, killing a Suvian), taken after as much of the fic as the agents can stomach.
Which is what we see. :)
But mostly, Morri was just technobabbling.

I like it—it explains why missions to Legendary Badfics tend to tackle the whole thing, or close to it. Gotta have that ripple back to canon to undo that kind of damage. I fear that, taken the wrong way, this might encourage long missions that don't NEED to be long, but then some of us (read: me) never needed an excuse to run long. ^_~
What say you of the TOS rule that the agents have to wait until the particular moment the canon and/or the baseline quality of the fic is well and truly broken?

The principle there is that before a major change, the badfic isn't all that strongly entangled with the canon. If you kill the badfic before it's entangled, there's a belief that the entangled portion won't be affected - it'll 'break loose' of the section you killed, and actually affect the canon all the more for not having the dead weight of the part you killed.
Or something.
Anyway, 'length' is just one way of describing the process of entanglement. The EPC love it, because it makes their mission reports torture to read (plus the agents get to spend more time out of their HQ). The PPC would rather you find another way. :)

On the Discord, we were having a conversation about our mirror selves, as in, our opposites. Now, we're role playing as them.
a version of ourselves that's twisted in a way that is very much not us, but could have been us. Not quite opposites.
I've always ( = maybe two years?) felt that the Mirror Universe in Trek, and by extension the Mirror Multiverse, isn't the place where good is evil and evil is good - it's the place where everyone kind of sucks. Their stories are broadly the same (hence Kirk and Picard both wind up as captains of the Enterprise), but their progress through them is the path their worst selves would take. It's the universe where people give in to their worst impulses, rather than trying to be better.
(If this makes you think that Warhammer 40K is an escaped Mirror Multiverse canon, well, I couldn't possibly comment... ^_~)

My favorite shows are Naruto, SAO (sao haters are so stupid), The Irregular At Magic HIgh School, Madoka Magika, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Trinity Seven, Akashic Records, Kotoura-san, Black Clover, The Familiar of Zero, Asterisk Wars, and Darling in the FranXX (ugh people complain about the ending but it's a masterpiece), Inuyasha, Danmachi, Lost Song... oooh there's too many to list! But Hatsune Miku all the way!
